The Patio @ The Freeport Inn & Marina - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Went to the patio for dinner. Our reservation was for 7:45 but we weren't seated until around 9 due to squatters at our table. At the very least, we should have been offered complementary drinks for the inconvenience of standing around for almost 1 & 1/2 hours. This was our first time there. Never again.
The food was better than I expected after reading mediocre reviews. The drinks are overpriced and nothing special. Was looking forward to happy hour specials but only beer was offered for $4.00. Overall just OK. Had it not been for the entertainment, I would not have gone.
Awful service awful food very expensive served spoiled milk never told there was going to be a band very loud had to constantly ask for things food was cold just plain awful. Was celebrating my daughters birthday and we couldn't even sing or talk and was told there would be a charge to cut the cake which we did ourselves! The bill was over 300.00 and to get charged for cutting the cake was ridiculous!!!! Then we had to valet park and when we went to get our cars the valet was no where to be found! I've eaten here before and never did I have such an awful experience!
don't waist your time, this is not on the mile, and is Way overpriced and the food is poor, and the drinks have no alcohol but still cost $15.00. Staff is so Rude. If you can avoid it, stick to the mile, better places, better food, This place was just a huge disappointment. New Owners really don't know what they are doing, and it will eventually hurt them.
The restaurant appears to be under new ownership and I was somewhat disappointed with the quality of the food. Last year they had a lobster bake every Wednesday. Not anymore. And the pizza looked like it was made with a pre-made crust. It's not as good as it used to be. I'll go back, but only when my friend's band is playing.
This place would likely be out of business were it not waterfront with a fairly nice view. I came to have dinner with my family and discovered that the cocktail menu they touted online was no longer available as it was past "labor day",;they could not make my wife a manhattan as they were out of those ingredients (?), and could not substitute any of the toppings on their pizzas (why? were they frozen and premaid? I was afraid to ask). The bar is a sad excuse for a bar...just one brand of gin (tanquerey), a few vodkas, and they totally ran out of bourbon; wine selection was so poor and low end they may as well as poured it from a box or a jug. My family left after hearing multiple excuses from a surprisingly rude staff as to how things are "different" post labor day. Anyway caveat emptor, I seldom write reviews but this place deserves to be slammed, at least for how I was treated. Also decor is more dated 60s than retro art deco. Could use a makeover. Not that I ever plan to come again anyway. Also please note this restaurant is not on the "nautical mile" and a bit away from all the action of freeport. Also a bit of a joke that they had almost no availability on open table the night before (leading me to the false impression this was a nice place), yet the place was not at all packed.
Great location. Very pretty view. Chef was not at all accommodating ... Wanted to order lobster roll with out bacon ... The waitress was afraid to ask the chef at first and later came back and said no! (the bacon was literally crossed on top of the roll) Also, one of our foursome asked for fries instead of the chips his meal came with. He was also denied. Even if we wanted to pay. Food was mediocre ... Chef was a bully.
Made a 745pm reservation for the all you can eat lobster bake. Started with a cocktail that was decent, although a bit overpriced IMO. Salad was nothing to write home about and the gazpacho was nice, but if you can't handle spicy, the black pepper can be overwhelming. Whole lobster, mussels, clams, potatoes and corn on the cob come out and its pretty good. Several clams and mussels aren't open so rendering them inedible. We order a "refill' on the AYCE lobster and half lobster comes out with a smaller portion of the rest. Again, unopened shells leave clams and mussels to be thrown out. We order one more refill, so we have a total of two full lobsters. This time, my lobster is slightly underdone leaving the meat a little mushy/slimy. My dining partner and I could have gone for just one more refill, but, it was not to be. We over hear the table next to us and they inform us that they are 'OUT OF REFILLS'. We ask the waitress and she tells us herself. AND this is not the first time. We went here because friends' went the week before and the same thing happened to them! Now, we thought that the week before was just a fluke, but now, two weeks in a row, the 'ALL YOU CAN EAT', is really, 'UNTIL WE RUN OUT'. So get there early (with a reservation because you can't have the all you can eat without one) if you really want the all you can eat experience.
They also tacked on the 20% tip to our bill. This didn't bother me since we would have left this anyway (its not the waitresses fault they ran out of lobster) but I know this is typically done for tables of 6 or more, but we were a table of 2. Guess this is a good way to make sure disgruntled patrons don't stiff the staff for not getting the amount of lobster they desire LOL
6 of us enjoyed ourselves tremendously! We'll be back in mid-August for sure. But after following the back Moondance, I see they are only booked until August 5th :( Hopefully, they will be back after that on Wednesday's too. The food was great and the service was as well....:) Thanks!!
We've gone last year and continue this year on Wednesday's for the $29.95 lobster special including an all you can eat lobster bake which includes soup, salad, and boiled lobster, corn, potatoes, clams and mussels. There is also a choice of a whole stuffed lobster or a steak dinner, but the all you can eat special is the best!!
We came in last sat which is 1st weekend since Labor Day and realize that menu you see on open table it's not the same. Spoke to manager about the limited menu (no more oysters, no more lobster roll, etc) and were told that they changed the menu starting that day since it's after Labor Day. I guess, people don't eat oysters after Labor Day:)Also ask the waitress about corking fee since we brought out own bottle, we told that's it's only $16($4 per per), we said it's ok that processed with dinner ordering. When we had opened a second bottle manager notified us that it's gonna be $25 for the second bottle since it's their usual corking fee. $9 is not a big deal when you're paying $200 for dinner but still... Unfortunately will never come back
The food was very good but had a 7:30 reservation didn't get done till 10:00. Didn't get main course at least an hour after arriving. Had a problem with an order and Manager very quickly resolved it. Would go back again but would plan on getting there earlier and hopefully get done sooner. Very nice outdoor location. We went on Wed. for lobster special should have more choices for non lobster patrons.
Went for all u can eat lobster bake. Was told u could either get q claw or tail not both. So for $30 u get corn potatoes clams and claw u have to finish it in order to put in another order for all u can eat. Ur choice was also a $30 lobster roll or 2lb stuff lobster. We were told it was stuffed with shrimp ans crab meat. It was all breading dry. Major disappointment.
We went to the Patio for their Wednesday night Lobster Special. It was an all you can eat lobster bake that included Maine Lobster, Clams, Mussels and potatoes in a both. The lobster was overcooked, tough and chewy, and they were very chintzy with the lobster portions. In each serving all I received was half a tiny lobster tail and part of one claw. One time my lobster "portion" was an empty clew, that's it. The clams were fairly large but they too were tough and the mussels were huge.
If you want to dine in a marina setting the view is great, but don't expect much from the food. Our waitress was very pleasant, but the hostesses were unfriendly and rude.
We went specifically to see the band 45 RPM but decided to go early and have dinner. It was lobster bake night. I did the all you can eat. It was about 20 minutes between getting the orders and that was only after getting the waitresses attention. We actually canceled the last order because it took so long. The food was ok, a little on the cold side. Drinks are over priced. We would definitely go again if 45 RPM was there but we will be eating somewhere else first.
We had been to the Patio several times but never for Brunch. We were out visiting family and brought the whole crew. It was a quiet day compared to other times we visited but everything was GREAT ! The Lobster Empanadas and the Coconut Fish & Chips were awesome !
