Overpriced charcuterie and cheeses! The food’s pretty good though.
Food and service were both great. This restaurant is especially good for people who love red meat and / or charcuterie. We started with a charcuterie platter then moved on to a steak and a pork chop, all of which were excellent.
Although our server (Andrea? Alexis?) was very attentive and appropriately engaging, the food was a letdown: wild boar ribs - $28; 12 oz ribeye - $42 both were poor values at their respective prices, especially as each came unadorned by any vegetable or other accompaniments. The ribeye, in particular, was a disappointment, as it appeared to have not been trimmed and the fat/flab to meat ratio was nearly 50-50. Plus, there was no discernable char on the steak. As for the "wild boar" ribs, any wild or game flavor was lost beneath spicing and sauce that could have come from a chain restaurant. So, they might as well had been all-you-can-eat pork baby back ribs from TGIF. Having been to The Partisan once before, I had left with better memories that, alas, were not validated on this visit.
We ordered the pork chop and the steak frites. The pork chop was well seasoned and hot. The steak frites were room temperature, not even the slightest warm. We talked to our waitress, and she took the plate back to the kitchen. I assume they reheated the food. On the new plate of food, the fries were hot but the steak was the exact same temperature and chewy. Not impressed. We received a dessert on the house for the food temperature issue. The restaurant left us disappointed and frustrated. I also wouldn’t recommend sitting at the high tops. It’s very noisy. Overall, I do not recommend for dinner and will not be returning. I will, however, return during lunch for the Italian sandwiches. We always love those.
Love the Partisan! Delicious pastrami hash with lemony arugula salad and a bloody mary for brunch! Fabulous. Wonderful staff who were so welcoming. Fun place! Great food! Reasonable prices!

The Partisan was everything we expected and more.
The food was amazing. The service was impeccable. We showed up early for a reservation but worse at immediately. The waitress and hostess were very helpful in breaking down the menu and the specials. We order drinks, charcuterie, appetizers, and a main dish to share for the table. We left so full and so satisfied.
I can't wait to bring my other friends here. Aislin and her crew are true professionals!
Run, don't walk, here and try the oysters and short-rib. I'm still thinking about it!

Hot dog with chili was excellent. Pimento cheese was mediocre. Service was slow - had to repeatedly hunt down waitress to request check.
I took a good friend for her birthday, we indulged in some pretty epic Belgian beer, boar ribs, beef short rib, a mushroom and a beat appetizer. This was on superbowl night so it wasn't too crowded.

We came in for a date nights and loved everything minus the baked oysters. They were WAY too bitter. We mentioned it to the server who came back from the kitchen saying it was the “umami” of the dish.
Listen, I’ve eaten at Eleven Madison park, mini bar, and many other amazing chefs table michelin star restaurants and not to say the partisan needs to uphold that standard but never have i tasted “umami” in the way of you way too bitter baked oysters. (We literally scooped the oysters out of the shell in an attempt to get them away from
the seasoning and breading in the shell)
I would change your baked oysters recipe for sure.

Experience did not start well when we were told that several items on the menu were no longer available. Then a couple of the ordered entrees had problems. The items were not cooked to order and were not fresh tasting. The problem items were taken off the bill, but it really should not have come to that. While the staff and manager were accommodating, it’s hard to overcome subpar food.

We arrived and were told that no seats were available due to reservations taking up all of the open tables for the night. We booked an apparently open reservation via the OpenTable app and went to the bar. The manager told us there was a discrepancy with the reservations, but that he would take care of us nevertheless...and he absolutely did. We were seated on time, he took care of our drinks, and the service was swift, attentive, and thoughtful. The food was incredible (particularly the beef fat fries and one of the rosemary salami we had). Excellent evening all around and I highly recommend the restaurant. I commend the professionalism and understanding of the manager in particular.

Good service and excellent pastrami sandwich. Steak frites very small and disappointing and Less so the burger. Worth going back to for the pastrami, but not sure about the rest.

Service was great. Food was not superb. Portions small. If you like tough meat, order the ribs. We would probably only do back for drinks--good selection.
We have season tickets to Georgetown basketball games at Capitol One Center, and we've been coming here a couple times a year since The Partisan opened. The menu always offers interesting new dishes along with some old favorites. The quality of ingredients is really good (Red Apron meats are a draw in themselves), tables are comfortable, and the overall noise level is OK for conversation. We've had unfailingly good service, too. Penn Quarter has lots of good restaurant choices, but this is still the stand-out for us.

Drove about 40 minutes to restaurant and it was worth it! Food was delicious- particularly the lamb dishes and the meatballs. The baklava crumble for dessert was super yummy! Will definitely go back. Also enjoyed the ambiance. All in all, a delightful experience!
The four of us had a wonderful experience at the Partisan! The drinks were phenomenal and my favorite was the charcuterie board. Our server certainly knew exactly how to answer our questions and took great care of us!
We had an amazing Charcuterie tray with cuts selected by our server and one of the best pimento cheese appetizers I’ve had anywhere. Our server was very helpful with my gluten allergy. My entree of Wagyu steak was amazing and my husband had a gnocchi that was as authentic as if it came right out of Italy. This place is a keeper for us.
I happened to mention to the hostess that I was conducting an interview over lunch...and she thoughtfully seated me at a booth, so that I could have space for my notebook. And then she notified our server, who offered to take drink orders and then give us plenty of time to talk. Food was outstanding, but this was service like I’ve never experienced. The Partisan is the only place I will conduct lunch meetings in DC from now on.
The food was okay, but with so many good-to-great restaurants in the area, why return? There is a menu posted on the web site. I studied it in advance and settled on 3 items of interest. The printed menu didn’t resemble the online menu in any way. It was disorienting and challenging to figure out what to order. Also, some of the draft beers are served in their stemmed wine glasses, and the full pour I ordered didn’t come up to even half of the glass. The ounces might be right, but I felt shorted. There was a group in the space that was much too loud, and the loud sound affected our enjoyment.
Beautiful restaurant and friendly, helpful staff. The meat and cheese appetizer was fun to try and interesting. My dish with the pasta and meat sauce with ricotta was good but I didn’t love the texture of the meat. My husband’s steak had good flavor but a lot of fat. Fries were delicious....I know b/c I ate most of them. Our son enjoyed his burger ....but he’s not overly picky :) but it did look good. We are not alcohol drinkers so wished they had a fountain drink soda machine rather than bottled cokes. Overall a nice evening.
