Joined at the hip to Red Apron, Chef Anda's groundbreaking butcher and charcuterie shop, the restaurant and bar draws heavily from Anda's line of house made products and relies on the meticulous sourcing that has made Red Apron the first and only butcher shop in the nation to use 100% Animal Welfare Approved pork. Anda and Chef Aaron Schmude's charcuterie program at The Partisan draws from 100s of cured muscles, pates, and sausages, showcasing over 30 different products on any given night.

I remember when their slogan was “a candy store for meat lovers. “It’s still one. Our server was very helpful in giving us advice. We ordered several of the small charcuterie items, each of which was delicious. We then had the WAugust brisket and fried chicken and a salad and french fries French fries, which should not be missed. We shared everything among the five of us. The only thing we didn’t absolutely l e was the polenta pound cake, which was a tad dry.

Excellent lunch at The Partisan. Best meatball sub I've ever had. Amazing beer selection. Tons of beers -- and I know my beer -- that I've never heard of before. Local microbrews too. I'll try the burger next time.

A B- at best. The hashbrowns were creative yet made from frozen hashbrowns. The brussel sprouts were frozen then over roasted. The white wine had to be chilled is the speed cooler. Expected more for the price.

I thought the food was fantastic. The main drawback was that the food was a bit cold when we received it. I think not enough people realize this place is here. Delicious food so give it a look. I went on Sunday brunch and got a reservation without an issue and the place was not that crowded.

Good small plates. Tiny tastes run about $4-6. Food was good. Drinks were good. Music was loud so it was hard to hear people at your table. We were there on a Friday night at 7 pm.

Super tasty. Service was really slow but I believe that our server was also the bar tender so he was quite busy. He was very friendly and did a great job but I think he was quite busy.
The fries were excellent! I've never left a review about fries but these beef fat fries were probably the best I've ever had. The meats were excellent, too!!!

The price/portion equation is off. Essentially it is overpriced for the amount of food they are putting on the table. An easy fix, but not a good value right now for your dining dollar. Tables are very close to together as well, so be prepared to be social if you don't snag a booth. Bottom-line is that there are other "meat-centric" restaurants in town that do it better.

Poor service - ordered some starter dishes which all came out fine, and then main entree came out two minutes later. Main entree - a brisket dish - was 95 percent fat. Very disappointing experience.

Meat-lover's dream meal. Choices were great. Brussels sprouts were seriously good. Shishito peppers and Beef fat fries were fantastic. Charcuterie options were endless and delicious. Service was good but a little scattered. Drinks were really good and creative. If I lived close-by, I'd go there daily.

Really liked the décor. The bar area is the best. Warmest spot, not very warm where we sat, had to get coat during dinner. All of our food came with heavy sauces, really hit bottom and didn't feel that great when left. Service was very attentive. We ordered a half of bottle of wine and it came in a very small craft, had to ask for a real half. Probably better to just order by the glass or get a bottle since the half didn't measure up.

I think this would be a great bar experience, since so warm and cozy in the bar. Good spot for a glass of wine and cheese platter! However, even the bread is heavy. Need to add something light for the cheese, the bread over powers it all. But definitely worth a try!

Unfortunately, the service here has declined with each visit. We've visited her four or five times during peak and non-peak hours. The last three times, our food arrived at the table well before our wine. Worse, when the wine did arrive, it was warm. In addition, on this particular visit, our server seemed annoyed when my wife informed her that she avoids dairy. We did appreciate the server going over the menu to ensure our choices were gluten-free, but she became short when my wife asked about dairy. Finally, while this did not bother me as much, my dining companions were bothered when someone came over after we had cashed out and chatting, and informed us that they needed the table for a large group. While we were offered another table to continue our talk, I have never been asked to move for that purpose before. Nor when I was a server (for 5+ years) had I ever witnessed such a request. In retrospect, the maniacal clearing of our table as soon as we were done with every single item made sense after the ask.

We are not difficult guests, as I used to be a server and understand the difficulty involved. This trend of service is sad because we enjoy the menu and ambiance.

I've had nothing but excellent experiences here before, but this last one was a little underwhelming. I ate Sunday brunch there and ordered the Steak and Eggs, with the meat cooked at Medium and the eggs Over Medium. The steak was definitely underdone and had to be sent back (the eggs were fine-ish). My plate when it returned--which to their credit was an entirely new cut--was better, but the new eggs were as Over Easy as they come. I'm assuming they were trying their best to get everything back out to me as soon as possible, but these two directions aren't terribly complicated. A chef worth his salt knows when meat will be too bloody and eggs will be too runny. It's probably an anomaly, but they should be careful with things like that considering their prices, which are a touch higher.

Food was good, but service was slow although we had indicated we had theater tickets and arrived on time for a 6:15 reservation with a performance at 8.

Just way too much meat and not a single salad or any vegetable that was light and not over prepared. We felt like there should be something less heavy to offset all the meat. Greens in one dish were tough and unchewable. Portion sizes for charcuterie were odd - some tiny - the pate - some a good amount - the bresaola. The cheese portion also very small and not something 4 people could even taste. The charcuterie was served without utensils. We had to use forks we had already had in our mouthes or our fingers - neither a good idea in flu season. Also the beer sampler was a fine idea until the server told us they were out of one of our choices and talked us into a beer we hated - something with pineapple -not a logical suggestion given that our other choices were stouts.

Portion sizes very hard to grasp - bowl of pasta was teeny although we were told it was entree size, the fried chicken was teeny - told the small size was enough for 3 with the other food we ordered. We were told we had enough food for 4 and all left hungry and we are not crazy overeaters. Might go back to the butcher shop because the flavors were good, but the restaurant was hard to figure out.

The food was absolutely amazing! They had some small plate classics, each with a unique twist that made it something bold and new, but not anything too risky that would cause one to question if it would be good. The food was perfect the drink list was abundant, and the service was excellent. 10/10 will be coming back here next time I'm in DC.

We wanted a non pretentious date night place. This was perfect. They were accommodating when we wanted to change seats twice but it was also quiet and not busy (5pm on a Wednesday). Really enjoyed the food and our waitress was lovely.

I had heard great things about Partisan so decided to check out the place. While the food was really good I was underwhelmed with the service of the front desk. There was no one present when we arrived and saw a line waiting to ask questions. The waiting staff was good and offered good recommendations. We went with our 2-year old and it didnt seem to be too much kid friendly. They didnt have a separate menu for kids.

Brunch on Sunday has a limited menu, which was still quite good. The maple butter on the triple burger was a great touch. We were sorry to find out that they do not offer any of their meat and cheese trays during the brunch meal.

A busy and somewhat noisy restaurant. Luckily, the host asked the sound guys to turn down the music or we would not have been able to talk! (Thanks for the courtesy; we really appreciate it.) The food was unusual and fun. The small bites were a nice selection of cheeses, meats, and pates. And the main courses were substantial enough with a variety of choices and ingredients. The brussels sprouts had, in my opinion, too much garlic, but that just may be me! But overall the food was interesting, the service was very good, and the wine list by the glass short but good choices. Interesting cocktails and beers too. We'll be back.

Overall, a nice evening. Charcuterie was good but pricey. Most of the small plates were very good. Loved the fries, lamb, and butchers cut steak. Brisket had good flavor but was very salty. Only real complaint was the value. Small plates are small, and $14 for the tiniest pour of rose was disappointing.
