The Parlour still does the best Sunday lunches, but we were disappointed that the nut roast had been replaced with a Wellington (Wellingtons are everywhere). However, while not as good as the nut roast, this Wellington easily ranked as the best we've had.
Heard a rumour that the Parlour serve the best Sunday lunch in Manchester, and we weren’t disappointed!
I believe the management has changed. I did wonder when we dined a few months ago and it wasn't as good as it had been in the past. The bread I ordered had mould on it, and the meat was so thickly cut we couldn't chew it. My Mother in law literally couldn't eat her pork roast. When I reported the bread, they didn't even apologise, and when I pointed out how thick and inedible the meat was - due to the cut, they shrugged. However we liked this place so much, we wanted that to be a one off and give it another try. This time we felt that what they offer for the price was much less, and not quite to the standard as before. Also there was a grub in my friend's salad. The waitress laughed when we told her, and she also pointed out it would be sterile because it would have been boiled. She didn't really apologise or take it seriously. She cleared the plate and then a manager came and said my friend's dessert would be free. Her husband was not impressed by that and went and had a quiet word. They removed the cost of the lunch - apparently quite happily. For me the bigger issue than something in the salad - which happens, I get that, is that in both cases when something was quite wrong with the food, there was a complete lack of interest on the part of the staff or management. Anyways long story short we won't be back, and we are quite sad because we used to go for Sunday lunch at least once every other month for the past 2 or 3 years.
A very disappointing visit. I booked on line and under special requirements asked for peas as there are few vegetables I eat. No peas available on arrival so no veg with my meal. Why ask for dietary requirements then ignore them. When I visited before for Sunday lunch they provided peas no problem. Ruined my meal. This has been my fave venue for Sunday lunch for a long time. Not any more.
Friendly staff and excellent food, not too expensive, what more do you need?
Very nice pub grub. Very welcoming staff. Great beer/ale options available.
50% off deal... great value and good quality food but horrendous service. We ordered mains only. Took over an hour. Kept getting told it would be 5 mins, then told it was our fault as they thought we would have ordered starters.... I really do love this pub and want to rate it better but the service was atrocious
Food was excellent and a steal with their 50% off for January deal. Had the short rib and a steal, both really tasty, well cooked and hearty portion sizes. The food has really improved since they were taken over in June last year, it was fine before but we've really enjoyed it the last couple of times we've been.
The waitress recommended a Spanish Bobol wine which we really enjoyed as a change from the more obvious choices.
The only let down was pudding which we suspect was bought in and not homemade but for 50% off we'll let them off!
it was awesome - LOVE the 50 per cent off such great value for such wonderful food
Excellent food, great service and atmosphere, only reason for 4* due to the starter I had chosen was sold out at 7.45 on a Friday night!
Really enjoyed the food & great value with the 50% January discount, but the place was cold and had a really strong smell of dogs! Not being a dog owner myself, I find it really unpleasant that a large no. of bars & restaurants now allow dogs & encourage it by providing dog bowls - sorry not for me!
Forgotten how good the food is here!! We had a great evening with friends catchig up over some great food and drink. Thanks for looking after us on my birthday.
The Sunday roasts are very nice, the staff are really friendly and the service is really fast, I would recommend this to a friend.
Always lovely - one of the best Sunday roasts in Manchester!
my favourite for Sunday dinner. Lovely food and good service. Shame that two of the desserts had run out!
Delicious Sunday roast. Couldn't fault the service. Lovely atmosphere
Great place if you love dogs.
Tasty Sunday late lunch - lamb cooked perfectly with ginormous Yorkshire puddings and plenty of gravy. Will definitely be returning.
Not as good as usual. Slow service. Tiny steak - what happened to the big Frosty rib-eye? No mushroom or tomato either. Flavour good but not enough for the money (£20). Burger better. Still pretty good, but not up to usual high standards.
Nice food in a good atmosphere, it's a little more expensive than I'd like to pay in terms of bar prices.
However, it's a really nice place and always good to eat and drink there
I came with the family for a Sunday roast after friend recommended it to us and I'll happily recommend it to everyone. One of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had! Great location, great athmosphere and great food!
We were really looking forward to enjoying a Sunday Dinner that is referred to as the best in Manchester. We dined at 6pm on Sunday 10th September. The ribs for starter were tasty and delicately seasoned. My husbands lamb was tasty. The stuffing was very tasty and 3 of us enjoyed the lovely Yorkshire puds. We were bitterly disappointed with the beef. My daughters and I ordered beef and despite it being lovely and pink it was very tough. I dosed it with the gravy (which could have had more depth) and added a good spoonful of the horseradish which was perfect with just the right amount of kick. It was a meal to celebrate my husbands birthday and it was a let down with the beef which should have been the star. Also there were only two puddings on offer...one with pine nuts and the other with courgette. Needless to say the children opted to go home and enjoy dads chocolate birthday cake and we joined them (but married it with Floralus Moscatel wine). I wonder if the fabulous Sunday Dinner is experience only between 12-2?
The service wouldn't have been commented on if the food had been good but despite the very lovely and warm welcome we received when we arrived and we're quickly seated we were just as quickly forgotten and had to chase up menus and in the end felt like we were inconveniencing the waiting staff.
Such a disappointing experience for a restaurant with a wonderful reputation - perhaps we just unlucky!
we are regulars on beech rd and go at least 2 times a month and since the parlour has been taken over the food is definitely not as good as before. the sunday dinners used to be the dogs but we won't be dining on sundays anymore I'm afraid!! gutted really as we really liked it before !!!!!!
Went for Sunday lunch with two friends. I ordered the vegetarian roast dinner, which was mostly good but the portion size was pretty small. The main event was a mushroom wellington which when compared to the amount of beef my friend got on his roast, looked tiny. The roast potatoes weren't very good, i sent them back as they were hard in the middle and barely looked cooked on the outside. When the replacements came out, they weren't much better and I was given the excuse that the veggie roast potatoes are cooked differently than the meat ones. I think thats a poor excuse as i'm not a chef but can make good, fluffy veggie-friendly roasties at home so i'd expect to be served good ones when i'm paying £12.50 for a roast.
Also the only cubicle in the mens toilet didn't have a toilet seat, which isn't very hygienic!
This is one of our favourite local restaurants. Dependable cuisine with some style, delicious beer, personable staff and a lovely environment.
Nice evening however only serves Sunday lunch on a Sunday but wasn't made aware on booking . Meals had to be serve twice as was cold , however was tasty .
We met up with some American friends for a leisurely lunch before they flew back out to the US.
The Parlor completely suited the occasion as it was informal, relaxed, had a nice British "pub vibe" and we'd heard it did a great traditional Sunday lunch.
Service was cheerful, efficient & friendly, atmosphere was vibrant and buzzing, and the Sunday lunch was fantastic - beautifully presented, with a good choice of lamb, pork or beef roasts and very generous portions.
The roasts were all served with nicely cooked veggies, delicious cauliflower cheese, stuffing, yorkshire pud and crunchy roast potatoes accompaniments, with extra gravy brought to the table without us having to ask.
The only complaint was that by the time we ate (3pm) the pub had run out of the lamb roast choice and only had 1 lamb left.
It was tasty, but it was just all the crunchy end bits and not pink lamb meat.
Nevertheless, would definitely visit again, & it was well worth the drive from Chester where we live.
nice food, not sure about the beef dripping starter, not like any beef dripping I've ever seen or tasted. The table wasn't available for the booked time, 20 to 30min wait to be seated, Staff really pleasant and attentive.
Went for Sunday lunch for a birthday celebration, the food was exceptional, service was great and the wine bob on !!! Great time had by all !
Not as good as previous visits, less care was taken in the food delivery but every component was nicely cooked.
Nice vibe! Very chilled out meal with three friends. Friendly staff and lovely surroundings!
Fantastic British food obviously made with the freshest and best ingredients possible. I will definitely come back, especially to try the selection of beer! I had the lamb which was beautifully cooked and I stole a few chips from the burger and fish which were equally to die for. Small menu reflected a good range of well thought out dishes. Lovely service and The Parlour is the perfect description of this little homey restaurant.
We visited The Parlour on a Sunday and we had a perfectly adequate roast lunch. We were a bit surprised that there was a very limited menu - only roasts being served, with a veggie roast and small kids' roast option - but that was it! The chef was very kind and made a cheese sandwich for our 3 year old, who didn't fancy a roast, but this was a special request.
We would probably go elsewhere next time because we might want more of a varied menu. If a pub/restaurant you is going to ONLY do roasts, the quality really has to be exceptional and for us it was just OK.
Excellent night at The Parlour. Great service. Got a table with a last minute booking. Brilliant food. Only downside was that the music was way too loud and rock-like. I was there with my parents and that was a bit disappointing. We asked to turn it down and they did which was nice but it somehow went back up. Will definitely go back though.
Top one nice one sorted, fish sand chips were great
Had an astounding meal here recently. We had steak and they are truly the best steak in Chorlton if not Manchester! Sourced from the local butchers and cooked to perfection by the amazing chef(s). Followed by a perfectly sized cheese board. Lots of unusual craft beers on and plenty of new and interesting Gin and Rum. Fantastic music selection as well and the staff are lovely! We will be returning soon and bringing many more with us. Thank you The Parlour for a great evening x
Really can't fault this experience in Parlour. I've been before and it's always been good, if not with a slightly limited lunch menu. But the meal me and my girlfriend had this evening was fantastic and faultless. Would 100% recommend to anyone unsure about giving this place a go. Another one of Chorlton's fine eateries.
Arrived late for a reservation and expected to get turned away. Staff were friendly and efficient, finding us another seat by the window. We had the Sunday lunch which has to be one of the best available in Manchester. Great selection of beers too.
Lovely food. However a bit more food choice on the menu woul be good
very nice waitress, good wine and food, setting nice will return
