The Park Tap and Grill (fka Park East - Hazlet) Ratings and Reviews
The service was abdominal, it took forever to get served and once we were we needed to send back our drinks several times. The food we ordered didn't come out correctly. We had to ask over and over again for water, napkins, ketchup, soy sauce, etc. We asked several times for additional wasabi and ginger, it never came. Then they had the nerve to put a 20% gratuity on our bill, while telling us some of the meals were in special, and we should really tip on the full bill!
These new owners don't want to be in the restaurant business, why? When we asked to speak to a manager, no one came. It's unfortunate as it used to be our go to place.
We went to The Park before a concert at the PNC Bank Arts Center. The food was good! They offer a wide variety of cuisine: Sushi, Dinner entrees and Burgers and sandwiches off the bar menu. We had to ask for the Burger menu, however. I had the lemon chicken dinner entree. It was delicious; very moist and flavorful. My dinner companions had sushi -- The Park roll - it was enormous, and burgers. Everyone was pleased with the food. The service could have been better. We had to ask for things more than once even though the dining room was empty. However, all in all, it was fine and I would go back.
went for mother's day. was buffet style but, not a very good selection of options to choose from, whether it was breakfast, lunch, salad, deserts. would not go back for mother's day again.
for happy hour or to grab a bit to eat, maybe.
Staff very friendly and attentive. Sushi may be small on their sign; but it is HUGE in taste. MUST TRY: Rock shrimp and Calamari - You're welcome. Went with the beer menu and Stephanie's (server) recommendation - F L A V O R F U L L ! Meal was delicious. Service on point. Reasonably priced. My first visit - new to Keyport. We sat in the dining room, but did notice the bar scene was full and active - next visit. 01
Since this place caters to kids "Kids eat free on Tuesdays", parents decide to bring their kids on the weekends, so beware. Unfortunately some parents don't teach their children how to behave in restaurants. We had to rush through our meal on a Friday evening, because a couple of unruly kids thought they were at Chuck e Cheese. It was a terrible dining experience for us and everyone else. The waitress told management but they did not do anything. They should have dealt with the situation better.
This is the second time in a couple of weeks that I took guests here to eat and both times they all ordered burgers medium rare and they ALL came out WELL DONE. Also, the fries were cold and seemed as if they had been sitting there for a while. Very disappointing to have unhappy guests!
I would never go back to this place. We were a party of 2 people and finished our meal in 30 minutes. The bill was almost $100.00 with tip! The sushi was not good and the veal milanese looked like one chicken cutlet. And was served with a salad that took up the majority of the plate. This place is good if it is the only restaurant left on the planet.
We gone here many times be the last two sadly the service was poor but the food is great. Beside traditional menu items they have specials such as bison, duck and many more. They also do half price entrees and sushi on Monday night and on Tuesday's kids eat free!
Party of six went for Thanksgiving buffet. Food on buffet was cold. Bartender did not know how to make a drink even after several discussions....a Manhattan up on second attempt was served as an Old Fashion on the rocks .....and was even charged for it. Table service was good.
The restaurant is pretty run down. The booth bench seats were worn and ripped. There is no attempt at creating ambience, just a plain unadorned table in a brightly lit room. Our server seemed like she didn't want to be here. Our cocktails were boring. Just when we were regretting our choice of restaurants we were served our dinners. The food presentation was beautiful and exciting. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and delicious. The veal dish was imaginative and tasted wonderful. It seems the chef is the only person interested in providing a legendary dining experience. It's a shame there were so many detractors to our experience since the food was so good. We won't be returning.
Sushi was just OK I like my sushi to be chilled. $18 antipasti appetizer was awful! (cut up pickles... really ?)Hoodlums in the parking lot a little disconcerting. Took the grandchildren to dinner there. I hate giving bad reviews, but we felt ripped off by the obvious lack of quality.
I just recently heard that Park East had reopened under a new name, The Park Tap & Grill. I decided to check it out for lunch with a friend of mine. We were pleasantly surprised by the extensive beer selection, and the wine on tap! I've never seen that before and at first was a little skeptical but it was so good. I had the Yardbird sandwich and it was delicious in addition to a beautiful presentation. They also offer a $5 lunch special menu that I wasn't aware of. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!
What a wonderful time. Our waitress made wonderful drink recommendations. I got a glass of purple cowboy wine and my girlfriend got the watermelon mojito, both were so good we got another round. We shared the whiskey clams which had pieces of shredded pork in it! YUM!! For dinner my girlfriend had the organic truffle pasta. The pasta was made for edamame, it was amazing, but nothing beat my Ribeye steak
Took my family here for dinner. My daughter ordered the kids 2 sliders. One was cooked fine... The other was blood red. After flagging down our waitress she said she would get her another one.. Only to come back with the check. I was annoyed at this point so I just wanted to get out of there. I won't be back
To start, in all fairness, the food was very good. And that was it!
There was a singer that arrived after we were seated and blasted across a restaurant with only a few tables seated. Couldn't hear each other at our table. Asked the waitress more than once to ask him to lower the volume. Finally, after over 40 minutes, the volume was turned down. Thank you!
We ordered two bottles of wine. The white wine was poured and it was more than warm although the waitress insured us that it came out of the refrigerator. ?? The Franciscan Merlot on the menu was no where to be found so we settled on the St. Francis. When poured and tasted, it was as warm and almost as hot as the white wine was.
The Tuscan table was ok but only available with the purchase of an entree. It would be better if this could be purchased on its own, even at a higher cost.
The main bar looks sparse and cold. Park East may have a new name but the recent changes are not improvements. Too loud, disorganized and very unpleasant. I can see they are trying but in all fairness, it is not working.
The restaurant itself was very nice, but the food was pretty much terrible. I ordered the thai coconut noodles with chicken, The dish was $24! And it was not very flavorful and had way too many carrots. I could get a way better dish at a thai restaurant for $12.
Great food and ambiance. Can go out to dinner and not miss any sporting events (tv's in restaurant). This is our go to place for our nights out with the family. Food is excellent and the kids can get always find something they like and my husband can get great sushi. Never disappoints.
I booked a reservation about three weeks before going. I had seen that Odell Beckham would be there. Between the time I booked and the date of our res, Odell had the great catch... The place was mobbed. Parking crazy. People getting tix for autographs and pics. While in the parking lot, I called the restaurant because I couldn't get in. I had to wait on that long line to get in to eat... Tho I was previously told that I could get in with a reservation and was 'guaranteed' to meet Odell... Now I had to wait 2 hours (with disappointed kids and they would hold my reservation... Idiotic. I totally get the busy Odell thing.... But do Not take a reservation and not ensure that I do not get to my table close to the expected time! Perhaps not your average night but I will not go back because I feel a reservation is kind of a deal... And they did not uphold their end. (Also I apologize that I had to rate the restaurant for things that I am unaware like noise level etc... In order to complete the review everything must be completed)
This is one of our local go-to places. They have a nice drink menu and a well rounded food menu. The service is always excellent. Note that if you order the sushi, order sauce on the side. The few times I didn't, the rolls were drowning in sauce. Not a good look or taste.
Went for dinner on our 25th Anniversary, on 10/11/14. In a nutshell: 1- is it a fine dining restaurant, a sushi bar, a party spot, a sports bar, a nightclub or a family restaurant? It appears to be, (or trying to be) all of the above. Sorry, it doesn't work. Too noisy for a quiet evening meal, too small to be all of those above things. 2- Bar area is nice enough, especially with little sushi bar built in, but dining area is drab and tired looking. How about a contemporary Asian look? 3- Food is a bit pricy, menu is VERY limited, and most of the items are billed as spicy. There were far more appetizers available than dinner items. I would go again, but would stick to the bar and it's pub fare menu, as well as the excellent sushi menu.
My husband and I keep giving Park East a try even though we normally have awful service. Surprisingly this time the waitress was wonderful but the food was terrible. The drinks were inconsistent and not tasty, food was poorly made. They advertise a baked mac and cheese with crab and lobster. It turned out to be a mix mash of different pastas with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. No crab or lobster. When the waitress brought it back to the chef he claimed it was vodka sauce and the seafood was super finely chopped. Nothing should be so chopped that you can't see or taste it. The manager seemed afraid to even give us eye contact. NEVER GO TO PARK EAST!!!
My mom and I went here for sushi and had a great experience. They have a reasonably large sushi menu, with options for even the pickiest sushi eater (me!). I had the Three Musketeers Roll and my mom had the Asian Tiger Roll. Both were absolutely delicious (I tried some of my mom's too), and in-line with sushi prices in the area. Would definitely come back for sushi here, as well as drinks. Bar area is quite loud but if you like the energy it is a fun time. Also, I highly recommend their punk rock shrimp appetizer - yummy!
