Great views of the park .very peaceful great service!
Made a reservation and show up only to find out there is an event. they are closed for the event
Amazing views of the park and very attentive service.
We made reservations online for 2:00pm. It was one of the choices. When we got to the restaurant we were turned away and was told that the kitchen closes at 2:00pm and they no longer take customers.
Salmon was over cooked, ordered medium rare and it came out very well done. Coffee wasn’t hot. And the wait staff not attentive. The view of Central Park is lovely. The hotel needs to pay more attention to the restaurant.
Excellent food and service
Open Table accepted my Park Room lunch reservation for 3people at 2pm Nov. 27th in the Park Lane Hotel on 59th St . My husband and I arrived at the restaurant on time with, our out of town guest who had just arrived and hour earlier. We were hungry and looking forward to a delightful lunch with our guest and enjoying the beautiful view of CP.
We were greeted and told the restaurant closes at 2pm. I explained that Open Table had accepted our reservation for 2pm. He left and returned with the same answer. We were told to go to the bar and that the bar had the same menu. We proceeded to the bar. (Hum, same menu? only thing missing was a nice table....)
Not at all what we had been looking forward to: we were seated looking at the bar waiter station and a TV screen. The meal was very good but our guest's French fries were cold - they were replace with hot ones. We paid the bill and left a very nice 25% tip. The next day after looking at the bill we found the bill was tip compri. We live in Manhattan we always leave a tip. I guess I should have know not to go to a tourist destination.
I feel it is uncouth to make a fuss: Therefore, I did not whine, cajole, or make a scene when I was told there was no service. After all we were there to enjoy our guest.
My expectations from a 4 Star hotel restaurant: I expect that under the circumstances, our reservation would have been honored. Regardless of the Open Table mix up or whatever the existing circumstance may be. I would also expect that Open Table would have the correct time available when a customer is making a reservation. I would expect that we would have been told at the time of the check being presented that it was tip compri.
Sad to be so disappointed.
Spectacular views of Central Park from nearly any table chosen. We had brunch here twice. The food is very good & there is something for everyone. Although one may feel it's pricey, it's all about the view here!! Will definitely return.
Unfortunately it wasn’t up to par and is severely outdated in decor. This could be so much more and comes way short. Such a shame to have a glorious space like this and not even come close to its potential.
Wonderful staff, food was delicious and portions very generous. Excellent views of Central Park. Would gladly return.
We booked a Sunday brunch for holidays. On our arrival, there was a crowded event happening at the location despite our reservation. We failed to find a manager to discuss the situation, a guest participating the event asked us to leave. We called the reservation number, a lady informed us that all reservations moved to another place at the hotel. She was extremely unhelpful and failed to understand we wanted to eat at the specific place we booked. She did not offered any real apology. We had to find another spot for brunch last min. I say, this place does not live to any of the expectation, staff is not classy. Stay away!!
VIEW AMAZING.Ambiance wonderful.Food very good...BUT the restaurant was empty 12 in the afternoon..Maybe 20 people..At noon upon arrival..The place was a little in disarray..SERVICE BAD..CONSTANTLY asked for cooffee refills and water..The few times ive been here in the past 5 years..Its ALWAYS this way. I go for the view..Mostly..Central Park is pictiresque
Amazing view. Great staff. The ladies room was under construction so that was a little annoying. But probably why could get a last minute seat. I'll be back!
Despite being able to book it on OpenTable, the restaurant was CLOSED!!
Allowing for a 130 reservation when they close at 2pm. The server was great. Everyone else made us feel we were imposing.
Mediocre, not worth a visit
The food is terrible. For $75 on Mother's Day, there is no fresh Juice or fruits like in most hotels. Cold cuts and hot food are very limited. The room is nice but the food is the worst I have had in this price range.,
We had a great lunch! Beautiful view! Friendly and attentive staff! The food was fantastic! Lovely hotel and restaurant!
Beautiful day to enjoy Central Park view. Lunch included a delicious Park Room Hamburger, and a tasty Steak Sandwich. Very pleasant and professional staff. Wine prices a little steep, try their signature cocktails instead.
View from the windows were great and quiet Sunday afternoon.
Where do I begin . We went here expecting a nice holiday brunch. What they failed to mention was they cut brunch off at 11. Who ends brunch at 11 on Christmas Eve ?! Pictures were deceiving , only two sad ornament displays in the entire dining room of shabby furniture , and un-set tables. The mirrored doors were shut until our 12 o'clock reservation time when they were unceremoniously opened by a waiter who said " all right , you can all come in now " and then walked away. No one brought each group to a table , no one checked for reservations . The waiter then gave us two menus because they didn't have enough menus for our group of 4. We asked for a drink menu and we're snarled at. Most unprofessional service I have ever encountered for a $300 bill. Don't just walk away from this restaurant , RUN !
The location for viewing Central Park was good, but there was a hair in my food and two items I tried to order were unavailable because they were out of ingredients. I would not return for a meal there.
I received a confirmation for our reservation, but when we arrived there was no one around and the restaurant was empty. We had a hotel employee do some investigating and were told that the restaurant was closed due to a private event occurring later. Needless to say, we were not happy about the situation and our waste of time.
this place allows reservation for lunch / brunch time on Sunday, but it doesn't actually stay open after 12PM. And the team acts like you are crazy to even mention that you have a reservation. Huge #fail for OpenTable, unfortunately.
The place is very nice! Beautiful and peaceful! But we didn't like the dishes! It was not tasty! The service and the people who work there were really incredible and very kind!
I suppose must one be suspicious of restaurants with great views. The view was a ten out of ten
and the Dining Room elegant and quiet. That's where the good news ends. We arrived on weekday at 1;30 and was immediately told that we needed to have our order in by 2:00.
The menu though not unreasonable had what I thought to be an odd selection. They had one of there specialties as vegetable ravioli. It was overcooked pasta in a soupy sauce. My guest had a pastrami sandwich that was bone dry. The service was cold and unconcerned. Fortunately the view was good along with the company. From now I will view Central Park from a different location.
Dont go for brunch as they dont serve it. It is only regular lunch
As usual, food excellent, wait staff friend & efficient.
Beautiful view just over the treetops of Central Park. Service was top notch food was very good as well.
Badly needs a decor update
A scene in the new TV show "Vinyl" was shot in the Park Room...which seems great, except that the show is set in 1973 and the producers didn't change a thing. Sarcasm aside, the place seems very, very dated. Service was not horrible, but wasn't good. And the waiter wasn't friendly at all. My food was bad, although my friend said his was okay. So there are all the negatives. Any good news? Yes...the view is amazing. I was there in winter so we could see into Central Park. I suspect in summer it's a nicer view, although you probably can't see as much when the trees are covered in leaves. The dining room is quiet with large tables and a lot of space...which is very hard to find in NYC.
So if you don't mind old furniture and grumpy waiters, you'll enjoy the view. I suspect if you set your expectations correctly you'll enjoy your meal, but if you have high expectations you will definitely be disappointed.
Very slow business. Furniture and Décor very old. Friendly Waiter. Very restricted hours open.
Lovely big windows overlooking Central Park.
Great food, fantastic service and wonderful view of Central Park.
Fantastic experience. Great service, good food , wonderful view and quite.
We went back!
The view of CENTRAL PARK was fantastic. The food selections were great for lunch. The service was not that great. We had to eventually get up and stand near the door in order to get or check.
No crowd and very nice view.Server very attentive .
Incredibly unprofessional staff, run-down facility, indigest food
Disapointing overall. Service was horiible, selection for Thanksgiving meager to say the least. View is only the trees, Has a run down feel.
An excellent ambiance, with 20 foot windows. ....
Good was very average. The cost was reasonable given the location and ambiance.
The strawberry, mango and blackberry sorbets, showed up as lemon, berry and coffee. Had we known, we wouldn't have ordered it.
The Park Room is rated 3.7 stars by 222 OpenTable diners.
Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting reservations at the moment.
