I ate there Thanksgiving morning (2017) with my daughter. The Waitress kind of convinced us to have the buffet., as the best value. The 2 fried eggs were good, ( I had to remind the waitress to get the eggs) but all the rest of the food was frightening. The food just wasn't good. The melon was uneatable, and not ripe, the sausages tasted Very dry and old, I toasted some breads, rye, banana, As I was eating, I noticed that a piece of wax paper was still on a slice of bread. another slice of bread was still frozen. The high-priced croissant came out much later than the eggs. The waitress didn't seem to understand or care, and she charged me extra for it. 'It WAS Thanksgiving morning', but....you would think someone in the place would care? the food in this place is pricey, and I left hungry, and you would think that the Crowne Plaza Corporation would want their guests catered to and treated well, not crapped on. It was as if they had some old food to get rid of, so they put it out on a buffet. I will never go there again.

The restaurant has a 50's kitchen theme, with Julia Childs playing on the TV screen, stacked rolling pins making up the back wall, a chandelier made of eating utensils and finally a display of 50's style aprons. It does make it fun and unique. There was only one other couple dining on the Sunday night we were there which made it very quiet. The food and service were great. The price is $$ so it is not an inexpensive place to eat.
Wow, is this place bad. I mean aggressively, shockingly, almost comically bad. It's inside the Verve Crowne Plaza hotel, FYI, but it's not the bustling bar off the lobby - it's the oddly brightly lit square space at the far end of the lobby. I cannot understand why it's so bright in there. I mean, it was a Friday night at 7 or so; why is it lit up like a mall store in the middle of the afternoon? That was our first clue that the place was off. The next was that no one came to greet us or seat us for at least 5 minutes. Eventually a harried looking waiter glanced at us and we sat. Ignored for many minutes.
Ordered a vodka martini, extra dirty, and a beer. A very clean martini arrived. I flagged down the waiter - now setting up for a large party - and explained it was supposed to be a dirty martini, which meant olive brine. Asked for some olive brine. He said sure...a few minutes later a different guy came by with a glass of lemon juice. I explained that was not what I needed, and he slumped over the table, laughing sort of, in that oh my god my night is such a horror show kind of way, like I should be feeling for him...off he went, exhaustedly, in search of my olive juice. 2 minutes later a different guy comes by with it. Then 1 minute later, the first guy comes by with the large squeeze bottle labeled OLIVE BRINE from the bar. I told him I was good now, and he made a big "AGGGHHH! Are you kidding me!"kind of gesture...I squeezed some more brine into my martini just so he wouldn't kill himself.
The "Confused Buffalo Wings” were pretty good, though not terribly confused.The Scallops were really good, nicely cooked and the lardons (bacon) were perfect, the Brussels sprouts soft, the corn puree sweet. My spouse’s Steak Frites were ok but the beef was not a hanger steak - more like the end of a random sirloin; much too thick and chewy. Good Frites though.
Many lifetimes later, we flagged down some other dude to please, please bring our check. Oy.
We have been to The Pantry several times. It is inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Natick. While the food and waitstaff are excellent, and the pricing reasonable, they have GOT to do something about the ambiance of this place. It is decorated in "retro" kitchen decor, with Julia Child playing on one of the screens. The restaurant has extremely bright lighting. They could improve on the ambiance of this restaurant by killing the Julia Child/retro theme, changing the name of the restaurant from "The Pantry" to something else, and giving the place a more romantic, warm feel. We almost considered eating our meal in The Violet Thorn, which is the adjacent bar, because it has more atmosphere. Also, why not hook up with TCAN in Natick center and give patrons a discount on dinner if they show their ticket stubs...might attract more clientele from outside the hotel.
What a great place! Decor is simply adorable. Cooking shows on TV, utensils adorning the light fixtures, rolling pins on the walls...just preious! Food is delicious, portions are large and great for sharing!
I was attending an all-day meeting, and wanted a good breakfast to begin my day. The Pantry made it happen! A nice omelet made-to-order, was served without delay. The server and host were friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable as well.
Skip the buffet and order from the menu.
While the restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night (maybe b/c there was a Pats game on?), we had a very nice meal. The ambiance is unique and fun, the service was very good, and the meals were served with an interesting flair that we both enjoyed. I had the scallops and my husband had the steak. As I mentioned the restaurant was slow but there was a reception going on in the hotel and that got a bit loud but also created a festive atmosphere so we did not mind. Also used a Group On offer which gave us a great value for our meal. I recommend!
The food was delicious. I had seared yellow fin tuna salad as my entree and partner had pot roast. Each was excellent. However, had to ask for bread [which was great once we got it] and there was only one other party eating there. They didn't ask for bread so they never got it! We don't go out to eat for solitude so we were disappointed in how empty the place was. Prices were on the high side, my tuna was $15 and consisted of 6 1" square pieces. Each was barely a bite. With a little bit of marketing and more attention to service this place could be great.
This is the third time I've been to the Pantry. The food is always superlative, but the service is wildly erratic and very amateurish. This time half the main course food arrived cold, the waiter delivered coffee with no milk or sugar, the first courses all arrived at widely spaced times, as did the drinks. There were no little plates for the hors-d'ouevres, which we were sharing and had to just grab off the serving platters and put into our mouths. The waiter seemed not to have had any training and seemed afraid of his job, which he didn't do very well.
The decor isn't to my taste (kitchen-y), but the real problem is the over-bright lighting and extreme exposure to the hotel lobby. It has all the charm of a school cafeteria. What it needs is more intimate lighting and table placement, and better-trained waiters. The food is superb though, so I'll go back and be more demanding of the waiter to get it right.

The food is very good, the presentation is lovely. Unfortunately every time I dine there it's so quiet. I think it's because it's in a hotel, and it is subject to the variations in hotel guests' comings and goings. I know they do a lot of special events there that keep the kitchen busy but I'd love to see the restaurant get more foot traffic because it deserves to be patronized.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the wine list as well as the service.
not worth the money
Menu has drastically changed since they were on Phantom gourmet. Service was slow, and unknowledgeable. Tapwater in a milk bottle didn't do it for me. Ordered calamari as an appetizer, worst we have had. Left after that.
My daughter and I met at The Pantry for an early, light dinner - she came down from New Hampshire and I drove up from the Cape. I had read reviews of many restaurants in Natick online and settled on The Pantry. It was a great choice! Our appetizers of Pistachio Burrata and Confused Wings were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. For dinner, we split the salmon on risotto verde and it was just as terrific. The culinary decor was very upbeat and fresh, and it was fun to have the silent videos of Julia Childs playing on the screens. It was a quiet night in the restaurant and the service was friendly and prompt. We will return!
we were excited to eat here but unfortunately will not be returning. the service was not bad although we did have to ask twice for a couple things. the food was just not amazing and things were not to their best. As examples: a poached egg on the menu came out as a soft boiled egg, the arugula was wilty, the pistachio pesto was too salty, the flatbread was more of a pizza and contained other cheeses when it stated to have only goat cheese on it. The decor was also not impressing.
Our food was very salty! to the point that we could not eat even 1/2 of it. Out waitress was not a knowledge person about the dishes or food allergy. We mentioned to her food allergy. Our daughter is allergic to egg. Her food came out with a dressing on the side that contain eggs! We removed the dressing but was not offered a replacement. I don't think this is a place for kids. Very expensive kids menu ($12). Overall, not a good experience.
We were the only ones in the restaurant and the service was awful-uninformed, slow, unconcerned. The menu is appealing and interesting but the execution leaves MUCH to be desired. Then we were charged for 2 of things when we had only one (that was fixed but...). Do NOT go here, it is expensive and you will be sorry.
The menu selection was a little thin, but everything was well prepared, well presented, and tasted good.
Food was outstanding! Have been many times and will return again.
A tribute to Julia Child, the food was very good and the service was superb. The atmosphere was brighter than I had expected but you need the lights to see all of the cool decorations including the silverware lamps and the rolling pin walls. If you're a foodie, you should definitely visit this place.
food was okay to good. Servers seemed new but helpful and friendly. We would go again and try something else on the menu. We have been before and had the burgers, which were excellent.
We have been here many times for breakfast, very good menu and food. Nice to bring guests. We were were for dinner this time, and it was our second time dining. Sirloin strip steak was very good. Salmon not so great. Service has never been good, at any meal.
I stayed at the hotel for a night and decided to have dinner here. I was greeted by a lovely hostess who also took my order. Service was prompt and the food was delicious. Loved the decor of the restaurant, especially the Julia Childs videos on the tv. Definitely would eat here again.
The service was very good, the ambiance was sort of cafeteria-like even though there was waitstaff service. The food was okay. I asked for a medium rare hamburger and got it done without even any pink. The French fries were ordinary and tasteless. I won't go back.
It's a really nice kitchen themed restaurant inside a hotel with awesome food but their service feels like they were never trained and fresh off the street. Service was very slow (it wasn't even crowded at all!!), even the hostess acted as a waitress too. I would recommend this restaurant solely on their food but be prepared for the slow service!
The eggs were well seasoned, and it was a great value at $ 14.00 per person for the brunch buffet.
we reserved a late night dinner for two at around 8pm, i've been here before that's why i insisted my boyfriend to eat here. the restaurant was quite busy because of the big tables that were occupied by businessmen and women. we chose the tables in the edge that were high and private. the server noticed us immediately and asked for what drinks we would like. after giving a bottled beer and a glass of pinot noir, she took our order from appetizers to desserts. food was pretty delicious and unique. inspite of the busy night, the server always asked if we needed anything else. their manager also helped her serve the food to the big tables and also our desserts. the staff was so kind and good. we enjoyed our stay and wish to come back soon.
This restaurant exceeded my expectations. Great food and a the place is nice. Recommended.
My husband went to see a band that was playing at the hotel. When he said he wanted to eat at the hotel I was a bit skeptical. I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was nice and the food was excellent. We started with the Calamari which was cooked perfectly. The asparagus with the lemon vinegarette was a nice touch. We also split the watermelon/feta salad which was also very good. My husband got the Sashimi Tuna Crust and altho he said it was really good. I did try the asian slaw that was with the tuna and it was very yummy. Lastly he got the scallops and I got the striploin. He said the scallops were excellent and I thought the steak was amazing (potatoes-yum). Service was good too. I would highly recommend The Pantry.
we had a reservation for two in the pantry. the place had a nice theme and was really cool. we ordered a steak and a salmon which tasted really good. the host seated us in a comfortable table and the server served us some popcorn and water without us asking. service here was really good and with no doubt, we will definitely go back.
what i have imagined. i once ate at the pantry for a buffet breakfast last may 2014. but i noticed that there was only two servers. it took too long before we were sat by the servers in a table that was not yet been polished. we were so annoyed by that but when the server came into me and still gave a smile despite of the busy shift that she has. the server was so polite and responded to all my request. it took so long for the server to grant my request but i understand because the pantry lack staff that day. i think that service here was really good and food i think was great. then i went back this june 2014. i saw the improvement of staff service. the pantry had enough staff and was able to respond to all my request quick and flawless.
Thought the brunch selection would include more than yogurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes with bread selections especially for the price of nearly $30 a person. This is less of a selection you can get at Embassy Suites, and that comes with the room! While the food tasted fine it was nothing special and not worth the hit to the wallet.
Service was awkward, our server wanted to stand right next to our table while we decided what to order until I sent him away. Otherwise service was ok. I like that they leave a container of water at the table, but we has to ask for ice- the water was warm. Appetizer was good (Bruschetta). Our meals (we ordered the steak frittes and the sirloin. Both pieces of beef were over tenderized and came to the table barely warm. The one that was supposed to be medium rare was cooked grey, the one that was supposed to be medium was medium rare.

Made reservations for an early mother's day brunch on Saturday. Very disappointing. Staff seems clueless but friendly. They gave us the regular breakfast menu, but by the time we were ready to order they said the kitchen was closed for breakfast/brunch and then handed us the lunch menu, switching gears. Did not get any silverware. No butter served, bread only after asking. Not sure where the "Julia Child" theme comes in. I apologized to my wife since it was not special at all ....
Where do I start? Our table was not ready when we arrived. When we were finally seated, the table next to ours was covered with dirty dishes. We were told that the kitchen was very backed up and that we should get the buffet. We did so reluctantly because the only items on the buffet were scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home-fries, some dried-up looking breads and pastries and bowls of cut-up and yogurt. The buffet looked picked-over, and with the exception of the fruit, at no time was the food replenished while we were there. After being told that the buffet was closing, we requested our check, but it did not arrive until we requested it twice over a ten-minute period. Save yourself some aggravation and go to brunch someplace else.

My son and I had Easter Brunch there this year and it was delicious. There was a great assortment of food and the service was very good. We would definitely go back.
While a pot of coffee awaited us on our table, beyond that the service was not particularly attentive and slow. The food was disappointing. It had been a while since we had dined at the hotel. We will not rush back. The food looked nice, but had little flavor. All three of us had the same experience.
