Service was very slow and food wasn’t as good as previous times. Waitress didn’t offer the buffet and was unsure when it was available. Not a great experience.
Ate breakfast buffet at the Palmetto Cafe but this wasn’t your ordinary ho-hum buffet. Let me first start by saying our server, Paul, was so congenial and tended to us with great care. Back to the food, from start to finish the food & coffee was wonderful. The buffet was nicely done with omelet station, eggs, bkfst meats, eggs benedict, French toast, caramel brioche, pastries, assorted dry cereals, warm oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt & more! The restaurant is beautiful and on a nice day the seating in the courtyard would be most enjoyable. If you come to Charleston, breakfast at Palmetto Cafe is highly recommended!
Food was excellent, as was the presentation. Service was excellent. But very expensive!
The Palmetto Cafe is VERY pricey and the food is merely okay but it's a lovely setting with gracious service and sometimes, that's exactly what you want. Average entree at lunch runs north of $27 -- be forewarned!
Excellent Sunday brunch. Wonderful buffet spread. Great menu options as well.
This restaurant is part of the Belmond Charleston Place hotel, which was charming and beautiful. I highly recommend staying there if you are visiting Charleston! I met a friend at The Palmetto Cafe for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. We ate in the outdoor enclosed courtyard. It was a pleasant day in Charleston and perfect for outdoor dining. The service was great. I ordered the Crab salad and it had lumps of pure crabmeat and no filler. It was on a tasty bed of avocado. Wonderful!! If I visit Charleston again, I'll be back at the Palmetto Cafe and ordering the Crab salad!
Had a great breakfast with good service. The pancakes were excellent. Enjoyable atmosphere.
Impeccable service with exceptionally well prepared food. Lily graciously seated us at a nice table overlooking the garden and all went well. Bravo!
Food is decent best part is beautiful atmosphere next to terrace.
Great seafood club sandwich and service very good
Service was excellent and Sunday brunch was fantastic.
Poor service and breakfast buffet was cold and overpriced. Waiter acted like he would be anywhere but at resatariant
Fabulous!! John was our waiter and truly made a birthday to remember.
Amazing service. Fast and kind. The palmetto omelette was absolutely delicious and FULL of crab and lobster. Even the side of berries were delectable.
Great service, excellent food, loved the fresh iced tea with peach leaves.
Great food and atmosphere. Expensive, but appropriately priced.
Very nice brunch buffet. Caramel brioche was a treat.
THE best brunch buffet EVER! Make sure to make a reservation!
Palmetto Cafe never disappoints! Lilly (whom I did not know) welcomed and greeted me by name assuming, I suppose, that I was on time for my business reservation (my business guest was impressed). Lilly then seated us at a spot that was consistent with my request (near a window overlooking the garden) when Ruthie (whom I recall from 4-5 years ago) did her magic. She not only welcomed us but was very responsive in all respects. The scallops and shrimp were wonderfully seasoned and perfectly prepared. The ambiance was first class, of course. You might be surprised to hear that my guest and I are both local. The fact that we chose a "hotel" signals that this one is where one finds not only a white tablecloth kind of experience with excellent chefs with consistently great food but also a place that treats you like you are a regular at "Cheers" even though you are only a twice a month person and the hostess has not ever met you. You really need to try this place. You won't be disappointed.
Delightful experience with Family.
Late Valentines Day lunch
Wonderful celebration for two valentines birthdays! Food and venue were perfect
We love the Palmetto Cafe.Their food is delicious and the presentation is amazing.I have never had a dish there that I did not like. They have a beautiful terrace where you can eat outside when it is warm enough.Everyone who works there is so kind.
The food was horrible...canned peaches yucky!
Best Sunday brunch in Charleston!
Very nice place for Brunch. Beautiful room and excellent brunch buffet with made to order omelets.
Great food, beautiful location, and great service. Ariana took care of us and she was very nice and helpful. Very pleased with this restaurant!
Great birthday brunch Celebration !
Norma Rae was our waitress and she was excellent. Very friendly and continuously checked to see if we needed anything. The food was excellent. We had the Palmetto Omelette and the Corned Beef Omelette which were amazing and were large enough to have been shared. The berry side dish was fresh and a sizable supply of various berries. We will probably return during this visit for breakfast. Hopefully we will again be waited on by Norma Rae as she made a great meal an exceptionally pleasant experience for my wife and me.
Waiter John was excellent. All the food on the brunch buffet was exceptional. Highly recommend for brunch.
The service (waiter) was THE outstanding feature of this restaurant. The environment was that of a typical hotel restaurant and that is not a compliment. Either the intent is to be taken seriously as a place for fine dining or be a high end diner for a high end hotel. It is not reasonable to be both. Since you seem to be doing well; it appears I am wrong in my assessment but I stand by it. If the entrance and exit were separate and the ambiance and presentation suggested serious food than I would have felt less hoodwinked. I dressed up to a level expected for the menu and my wife and I found ourselves at a pool side bar (again not a compliment). I think the food has some merit having tired a sampler plate of specialties. It was not cohesive and left me overstuffed (like one feels when they've over eaten at a cheep buffet). I think the chef/s are very good and I enjoyed the soup I had very much and would not change the food as much as the presentation. The hostess looked like she woke up from a long bender and again was hard to be taken seriously. I wondered at one point if she was family. She gave the waiter the wrong name and the poor fella was petrified when we seemed unexcited to be known as the "Calhouns" (a nice name just not ours). Great potential but needs some work!
Love Palmetto Grill for breakfast or lunch. Fun place to go. Never know who will see! Wonderful service and fantastic food.
This was our first experience at The Palmetto Cafe, and it was truly remarkable!! Our server was sociable, very attentive, and a great conversationalist.
We arrived 5 min after brunch officially ended, but the staff still allowed us to partake in the brunch buffet (a must try - the omelette bar is fantastic) and even offered to keep it open for us while we sampled the great cuisine.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was elegant, and the cocktails were on-point. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Charleston - either visiting or locals.
Service was SUPERB! Ate there twice during our meetings and both times, had a great experience. Had the buffet, which was expansive and really appreciate the choice of intensity of bottomless coffee and the to go cup! My only issue was the price; $30 for breakfast plus tip is really steep and there aren’t other options available in the hotel. Other than price, this was a wonderful option and I highly recommend it!
Consistently great food and excellent service!
Great food, great service, beautiful setting. Very good brunch selections.
The bellini was great and the shrimp tacos were good, but not great, especially for the price.
It was nice that I got a piece of cake for my birthday. The service was excellent.
Excellent service, good ambiance and delicious food.
Been dining at the Cafe since 1999...it's our favorite spot in Charleston...the She Crab Soup is divine...entirely appropriate for dessert...very fresh food, the subtle and simple elegance of the low country...excellent atmosphere for conversation and quiet, leisurely dining...sophisticated service...
