The Palm Boston Ratings and Reviews
This is not my type of restaurant. Music was geared towards 20 somethings and it was very loud. It was Valentine's Day and I was expecting to be able to converse with my husband. I asked the manager to change the music and he said he couldn't because it was a "corporate decision". Finally we were moved to the patio where it was cold even with the heaters blasting at us. I really liked our server and she stayed with us through the entire meal. The main dining space is too noisy for us and too over the top. We were give a gift card otherwise I don't think we would have picked your "corporate" restaurant.
the lobster bisque was spicy "flavored with cayenne" it was returned for clams casino;
the booth we were in felt cramped with us sitting across from each other;
the bread basket was fine and flavorful but it was COLD;
again picky items but which detract from the otherwise excellent meal.
I have been to the Palm in NYC and the Palm in Las Vegas. I never expected the Palm Boston to be so mediocre. The bartender was very nice during our cocktails. The table waitress was terrible. She had an attitude. Barely showed she cared and was inattentive. She left empty dirty dishes in front of us while another person in our party was working on their steak for 20 minutes. The salmon was not very good, not only poorly done, it was small for the price and caliber of restaurant. The filet mignon and 32 oz prime rib were very good. The side dishes were also very good. We were there for a birthday. While there was a birthday card on the table, they didn't even acknowledge it with a piece of cake. Unfortunately the experience did not measure up to the beef. Especially spending $130 ppl. I recommend finding other steak houses in town.
My mother Birthday became more special at the Palm Boston. Kristen our waitress did amazing job and made everyone feel special and welcome. The food was great and served in timely fashion. Even the hostess was very nice and welcoming especially to my little five year old. Great experience that will be repeated again for sure.
Great ambiance . Great drinks. Food is very similar to most high end restaurants in the greater Boston area. I have 2 criticisms about the palms. 1 are crab legs supposed to be cold?
Our waitress was awful. Slow. Inattentive and truly zero personality. Honestly my wife and I wanted to enjoy our night. We ordered drinks and wanted to take our time and enjoy. The palms was not particularly busy at the time. Any way I think our waitress server asked us on 2 occasions if we were ready to order. Both times we had said not yet. On the third time I think her words were ‘ so are you guys ready to order yet?’ We were not impressed. We typically tip in the 25 to 30 percent range however this time I left 15 percent with a note at the bottom “awful service”. I hope she got the message. Please go and enjoy hopefully this was an isoltead incident. Too bad for a first time visit.
Went there for dinner on Saturday night and had a great experience. The service was outstanding in every way, thought the menu was outstanding, and the food simply great. Steaks were especially good. Wine list was also A+. I would certainly recommend it to all. It truly is a great dinner experience in the evening, wonderful atmosphere.
Will definitely go back again, for sure.
décor is the inside of a mausoleum, with very high ceilings, and very dim lighting. Noisy, with some music that belongs in a sports bar, not a "fine restaurant".
view is of the traffic getting into one of our finest Boston tunnels...
soup of the day was chicken noodle; filet mignon looked good but had no taste, other than that of flour; creamed spinach was all cream, with a couple of shreds of spinach lost in the mix.
service was average and without any finesse (other than the host/hostess at reception who were very friendly and welcoming/professional).
Having the wait staff congregate for 5 minutes a few feet away from the table (s) while they check their phones is NOT entertaining....
This is not on par with other Palms I have visited.
Manager needs to tighten up that ship....
The Highest and the Lowest (sorta)
Lowest - Our server left in the middle of service without saying a word. So for 20 minutes I was keeping my eye out for him.
Highest - I reached out to a passing server and asked her to to send our waiter over since I had been waiting for some time and wanted some coffee. She immediately said she’d get it and said she’d also try to get some cookies which we had requested. There weren’t any cookies so she ran next door and got some from Starbucks. Unsolicited. At her own initiative. Impressive.
Always a great dining experience and servers are best around. One common issue.......I realize this location has 20' ceilings and there is a lot of glass. However, we frequent this location more in the winter than summer (Christmas, NYE, Valentine's Day) and even with a sweater or button down shirt, I have actually been tempted to put my down coat on during dinner. My wife, son and I enjoyed dinner on Christmas Eve but all three of us were freezing. We'll live but you'd like to drop $500 on dinner for 3 with tip and be comfortable.
We had terrible service from start to finish. We sat for a long time without anyone coming to the table. We had to ask the first waitperson we saw for drink service. Then we waited an extremely long time to order lunch. We again had to look for someone to take our order. My chicken caesar salad had no chicken. After 15 minutes someone brought my chicken on a side plate and the chicken was very undercooked. We had to search for someone to pay the bill. The manager came over to apologize but said he had no excuse for us. It would have gone a long way if he had offered a drink or dessert, but he didn’t. Unfortunately, not a good experience.
Fabulous meal, pretty what you expect from a restaurant like this.
Waiter was outstanding very informative without be pushy, very attentive. Great Christmas atmosphere and buzz without be too loud. Waiter informed us of New Years Eve menu and this restaurant be came a real option.
Coconut Scallop app was perfect and with a few more scallops it would have been a great meal. My new fav now. Steaks New York Strip and a Waygu Rib-eye cooked perfect and delicious.
It's in the Financial District a very short walk from the Boston Harbor or Intercontinental hotels. Again fabulous meal premium price but well worth it. Can't wait to return.
