I love The Palm and have been there many times prior to the pandemic. This was the first time since and it was great except for the steaks themselves. Everything else was top notch including the service, but both steaks were below average and far below the high standard previously set by The Palm. I truly hope this was just a bad night and not a change in quality somehow resulting from the change in ownership.
Decor is beautiful, waiter was decent food was meh!
Way overpriced fir the quality you receive and most if the poor quality was in the preparation or lack thereof. I do blame the waiter for serving us coffee that was lukewarm and old. Would never go back, ever!
It was our third visit there and the food and service are consistently good! Two of us had the Wedge salad and one had the Gigi salad. All of them were large salads and delicious!
I had the lamb and was surprised by how many ribs there were on the plate. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. One person had the Chilean Sea Bass that he had the last time and found it just as delicious as the first time. The third person had a seafood dish ( sorry, can’t remember what it was called), but it had Clams, shrimp, scallops and lobster in a marinara sauce. She said it was divine and will be dreaming about it for quite awhile. I’m thinking of having that the next time we visit Boston. Yes, we intend on returning to The Palm! The service was great as it was the last two times we dined there, ( but it was a weekday, so it wasn’t very busy)but the staff has always been very personable and efficient.
The prices are $$$$, but to be expected for a fine Steak and Seafood restaurant and won’t stop us from returning. We are from out of town, and did not have “fancy” attire, but they aren’t a stuffy establishment and made us feel welcomed nonetheless.
Thank you The Palm Boston for another delightful experience.
We did the power lunch and everything was excellent and really good, very tasty. This was my first time here. A few things however I did not like.
1. we saw bread baskets on other tables and were not offered any
2. I was never asked for a refill on my soda and would have liked one
3. the waiter assumed we wanted a second bottle of sparkling water and never asked, then charged us another $19 for it
4. it was not busy at all, the server was nice but had no real care for our visit and seemed uninterested in our table, he made no suggestions, was very blah and disappointing for a high end restaurant. nice person but almost felt like fast food as we felt incredibly rushed
5. desserts to go took a very long time two people had to leave so I took care of the bill.
Our bill was $150 with tip for 3 people so we spent quite a bit for a lunch. Food was amazing, service could have been ten times better.
We love the Palm. We eat here as often as we can when we are in Boston.
Amazing lobster and perfectly cooked streak! The service was flawless!
Excellent food and service. I will be returning again in the near future.
Outstanding place for food and drinks.
Our server, Rachael, is terrific.
Food was amazing. Our server was great - appreciate that they have Covid safety measures in place. I know it’s hard for them to wear masks all shift and appreciate that they respect the need to do so. Loved the food - only regret was I could not fit it all in my stomach. Great flavor and cooked perfectly.
The food was very good and the service was even better.
Boston Restaurant Week is supposed to entice you to want to go back to the selected restaurant. Not so with our Palm experience. Some of the food selected from the special menu was not up to the quality of a high end restaurant. The filet was fair, and the two tiny bites of lobster were mushy and laughable. Some of the food items were very good, but one expects consistency.
Now, on to service......again not up to a high end restaurant. Waitstaff were pleasant, but not well trained in the nuances of a fine restaurant.
Was disappointed by the service at the Palm.. The food was excellent, but waited for our entrees for more than 30 min after the appetizers were cleared. They participate in Dine Out Boston, but did not bring the special menu until we asked for it. If you don't want to offer the program, don't participate in it. We spent more than $75 per person (with wine and upgrades) - so it's worth it for the restaurant.
Very enjoyable Restaurant Week dinner. Top quality dish choices for a moderate price at such a usually fairly expensive restaurant. Good drink and service as well.
We visited for restaurant week. Food was excellent, service was pretty good. Waiter didn’t really seem into it but was nice enough. Ambiance is great!
Rachel was a fantastic and attentive waitress.
Steak was undercooked. While it was medium rare the fat was not completely rendered and parts were close to inedible.
Excellent food and service
Celebrated a birthday!!
Server approached with a little more ambition than I would’ve liked when we sat down. I didn’t even have a chance to decide what to drink! She was very complimentary of the girls & had a special mock tail made.
We weren’t offered bread. I knew what they had because I’ve been here more than once. I had to ask although the busser had taken our bread plates away.
We ordered the porterhouse for 2-3 as med rare plus. A piece or 2 maybe; the rest was walking on the plate. Server didn’t stop to check on us. I tried a couple times to get her. Obviously the floor mgr saw something. Server saw it n said need it to be a little more crispy or something. Well it came back n honestly several pieces went to waste…there was this white stuff going thru it. We took a few pieces home.
When busser came we told him we wanted to take steak spinach n potatoes home. We got the steak 🤷♀️
Server comes about dessert not even acknowledging about steak. We ordered 2 n a coffee.
When check came she said dessert on The Palm because of special occasion. Well $20 of the $24 yes.
I can tell you the server had the whole part of the floor but she was more attentive to all of them.
Yep Gave her a tip of 20% but my taste of The Palm
Boston is not to return.
I’ve come up there 12 years multiple times biz n pleasure. Sadly this put poor taste in my mouth n ruined our evening.
Delicious great quality food and service! I booked last minute and it is probably the best restaurant we’ve been at so far this trip for steak and seafood!
Lovely dinner with the family. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious - steak and seafood. We sat at a window booth overlooking the seaport. Enjoyed the drawing on the wall of celebrities who visited there. A great place to go for a special meal with family.
Took over an hour from when we were seated to get our lunch.
Horrible food even worse drinks.. 60 dollar steak that came out cold and a 15 dollar drink that tasted like toilet water
Slow service when restaurant not very busy. Food was excellent
Friends from NY visiting & we all had a wonderful time at the Palm. Very pleased with the service, food, and ambiance.
Hostess did her best to find us the best spot that wasn't freezing. When the resturant filled up with Saturday night diners, the temperature evemed out. Very accommodating waitstaff, friendly end energetic. Incredible ribeye, sides and wedge salad. Highest level of service and quality of provisions.
Tim was excellent
Great staff, excellent drinks and food! So happy to see everyone eating out again.
Stephanie is one of the best around.
The service was very very slow . We were there for over 3 hours just to have dinner. When the food came finally out it was uncooked.
Terrible service, adequate food. Definitely not worth the money!
The Palm is running on reputational fumes, not exceptional fare or innovative menu options. While the location, setting, and service are still noteworthy, ownership needs to do some serious kitchen revisioning to compete with same tier competitors. It's not 1957 anymore, and while there COULD be unique ways to fuse the new and old, such efforts fell remarkably short on our visit Saturday. While the attempt at red wine infused sea salt to compliment the beef tar tar was commendable, it did nothing to mitigate the poor overall quality and antiquity of the dish..... let alone the mediocre raw oysters, aberationally creamed spinach loaded oysters casino, average steak cuts, or disappointing share-style sides. Most specifically, the 3 cheese potatoes and creamed spinach were remnants of a subpar past; when charging for $20 family sides, one should be sure to parallel the likes of Del Frisco's, or even Ruth Chris, not microwavable Boston Market. In fairness to Boston Market, their sides are actually much better. Sorry, but the Palm has a great history, and deserves a better future.
Our server Rachel was terrific. Friendly, and timed every course out perfectly for a business lunch. The bartender, (Julie?) came by and answered a wine question for my guest, with a beaming smile and one liner that had us laughing! Management checked in after our meals to make sure everything was to our liking. I got the Chicken Parm, and it gave my grandmother's secret family recipe the biggest run for it's money! Phenomenal experience. Can't wait to go back.
My guest and I each ordered small Caesar salads with shrimp and steak. We had tap water and one Coke. The lunch bill was over $65 before tip which is shocking and price gouging at its worst. Nowhere on the menu or did the server say that they were charging $6 per shrimp. I called the manager who said it is what it is. They will not get my business ever again or anyone from our firm.
Didn’t care for veal chop suggested by waiter. Wanted veal parm with the snap so was disappointed
A great place to have a nice family dinner or any other formal ocasions
Always great food and the service is exceptional.
Lobster bisque was ok , kinda watery with little flavor. Steak and the mushroom sauce was delicious.
What steakhouse does not have baked potato on the menu? The Palm
