Our table was close to the kitchen. Awful. It is not worth the time and money.
The afternoon tea was amazing. Beautiful, luxury setting. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend!
Afternoon tea at the Palm Court in The Plaza was everything I dreamed of and more!!
"Afternoon tea" was definitely a lifetime splurge for us and it was worth every dime. Our server - Kazi - was amazing. If you decide to splurge too - be sure to ask for him! He made the experience even better!
The Plaza is a beautiful place, very magical. I took my daughter there for lunch, which turned out being Tea. The Tea was a fun experience, but pricey. It was $75/person, but you got a bunch a sample size desserts, mini sandwiches and scones. In addition, you received a pot of tea per person. A Proper Tea is Definitely a fun experience, but it is not something I would do every weekend. It is nice for a special occasion. I recommend visiting the Plaza and having a Proper Tea if you have not been to tea before.
It's high tea. At The Plaza! How can you not recommend it? It's beautiful and it's everything you expect from The Plaza - impeccable service, delicious food. There was even an "Eloise Tea" for small friends. It was beautiful and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
We reserved to go celebrate our engagement. We loved the ambiance, it is pricey but it was worth it. The food was exquisite and the tea excellent
It was my 8 year old nieces first time visiting The Plaza for Eloise afternoon tea. Our day started at the Eloise store where we purchased 2 adorable jackets and some other cute finds for my niece. It was a girls day out, and the five of us truly enjoyed our experience for afternoon tea. My niece was over the moon with her Eloise afternoon tea and all the sweet treats that are included. The food was good, our waiter was prompt, kind and unobtrusive. It was a fun girls day, and I would highly recommend The Palm Court at The Plaza for afternoon tea.
The food was good - the pumpernickel sandwich with salmon was especially tasty. Our server was over the top for us - checking in way too often and smiling in an overly friendly manner - he didn't seem genuine.
Fue mi cumpleaños y me regalaron un plato con macarrones y vela!! Divino!!!
Wonderful experience, on the expensive side- it is the plaza- needs more restrooms though. Waiting for 15 minutes is not pleasant. Had the New Yorker tea and everything was delicious.
Not cheap but a truly iconic NYC experience and something that everyone must do once!
Perfect setting for afternoon tea for my wife’s 40th Birthday
Food was fantastic and the setting was perfect
A relaxing afternoon experience. This is a must!
I took my 9-year-old daughter here for afternoon tea as part of our mommy daughter weekend. This turned out to be one of the best highlights of our trip.
We came for afternoon tea at the plaza on Thursday 12th April we had got a little lost on the way there so we arrived 5 mins late. We were shown to our table and told we only had 4 mins to pick what we wanted as we had arrived late. We picked the New Yorker afternoon tea which was quickly brought out the food was delicious but the staff kept hanging around and when my mum had barely finished her last mouthful of scone her plate was whipped away. Then they kept coming to ask if we had finished did we want the rest put into boxes to take away. When I booked the table it said the reservation was for 1.5 hours but after barely an hour we felt we were being rushed out the door. I do feel after paying including tax and a bottle of water $307 this wasn’t a very acceptable service. The concierge was extremely helpful in helping me with some tickets that we had left behind and if it wasn’t for this we would of complained. Overall the food was delicious but the staff and the way we felt we were treated was very disappointing.
Food and service was great. Would have like to have been seated before our last person arrived since it was not full. That was irritating. Very expensive but fun for a special occasion.
Afternoon tea is a splurge but a total pleasure
Arrogant service, very nice atmosphere, food ok but nothing special, too expensive
Went to the Plaza for afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. Was very accommodating about a nut allergy. Wait staff not what I would have expected for the Plaza. They kind of rushed to take your order and were a bit impatient when deciding on what tea to have. Presentation of tea sandwiches/scones/pastry was nice. The Plaza is a beautiful setting but I think I’d go somewhere else for afternoon tea.
The service really is terrible for such an iconic place. The NY Plaza should be exceptional- it’s not.
celebrating our honeymoon what an amazing hotel fantastic staff and fabulous food.
I enjoyed a beautiful tea time with my friend Maggie. The tea was exquisite. The service was spectacular! The ambiance of The Palm Court is so regal and absolutely lovely.
The staff member who seated us was not very welcoming. Our server, who was very attentive, efficient and friendly, was run off her feet. There didn't seem to be enough servers. We had to wait 20 mins until we got any attention. The staff member bringing food from the kitchen was also very attentive and thorough explaining our meals. The cocktails were fantastic. Leftover food on plates piled up behind us which was a bit unsavoury.
It's such a shame as this place could be great with a few service-related changes.
Amazing experience. Thanks for the personnel touch.
I had a wonderful afternoon tea at the Palm SFO and so i made a reservation for two through opentable to the Palm here in NY and try their Sunday breakfast buffet . Home alone the movie was on my mind too the moment we entered at the main entrance. The place and staff were great, the buffet breakfast selection was good too, the freshly baked mini croisssants/bagels/danish pastries, i think there were 4 kinds of cheese, bacon and sausages, scrambled egg, sliced fresh fruits, some cold cuts, freshly squeezed orange juice, your own coffee pot in your table and my favorite the oh soyummy smoked salmon.I have dined in other hotels with greater buffet breakfast selection and although the selection here was a but a few, still we had a wonderful quite breakfast in a beautiful place with a beautiful crowd. Would come back with my family and other friends.
The service could not have been worse. It took an act of god to get someone to pay attention to you and when they finally did they acted like they were doing you a favor.
A most unique and wonderful date spot! Mostly female customers. Beautiful escape from the hard streets of NYC.
Great spot for tea! The Plaza is beautiful of course!! The. Bill was very very expensive!! $275 for 2 adults and 1 child.
We were not informed about portions and how things can be shared. When we chose to share you could tell the staff wasn’t thrilled with that and they then treated us accordingly. We learned how to order after the fact, just wish they were more upfront with how it all worked.
Great experience
Beautiful and great for special occasions! We had a great time.
Great experience for a special Daddy/Daughter (10 yrs old) trip to NYC. Brunch at the Plaza and Hamilton the play. Wonderful food and amazing service.
Breakfast was very expensive, which I expected. Service was very bad. - which I did not expect.
Although the food was delicious and teas were excellent, our long-anticipated "High Tea at the Plaza" outing was disappointing due to the service. Although we had a reservation, we had to wait to be seated. Although there were only few tables occupied, we were put in the back by the serving station, with our food & dishes crowded onto a two-top, when four-tops were empty. Neither host nor waiter seemed to have sense of class expected of The Plaza, especially related to gracious communication with us. What was missing were the following: Politely telling us we would have to wait for our table and why; Being informed about the menu and attentive to our ordering needs at the outset; Graciously allowing us to leisurely finish our meal without veiled prodding to finish up; Clearly indicating the location of the ladies room with helpful directions/guidance.
Very disappointing
Loved all of the tea sandwiches. The desserts were lacking. Great service and a fun tea experience.
The dramatic setting is the draw, not the food. Servers abound and are attentive to your every move and need in this beautiful atrium of overpriced, decent food. Even the impeccable service is unable to compensate for the fact that the prices are absolutely ridiculous, even by New York City standards.
Really special place to have a delicious breakfast with helpful and friendly staff at hand to provide a brilliant service.
I had a reservation for March 30. I received an Open Table confirmation. They called me a week before to say they'd be closed on that date, and I called back to make it for another day, April 2. Since all was done by phone, I called the morning of April 2 to confirm (2 at 3:30). When we arrived, they said my reservation was for 2:30 and gave us a table near the kitchen. BAD experience.
