Afternoon Tea at The Plaza is simply a must! It's iconic for a reason. I’ve read the reviews that are less than positive, and I am sad that everyone else has not had the same experience as I have. Our food was delicious, and the service was perfect; friendly and attentive, but never overbearing. The Palm Court has been a favorite of mine since I was 17, and I am now a grandmother! Yes, it is not inexpensive, but for a special occasion splurge, it is perfect.
Great! NYC institution where you can get a feel for old NYC.
I had a fabulous birthday celebration!
For $75 per person, I was expecting fresh sandwich bread. Sadly our finger sandwiches were very dry from being prepared early sitting out for hours.
The fillings were not to my taste. Salty cucumber. Low grade sandwich meat.
Oh well lessons learned.
Good environment to have good conversation with friends and family
Also good for business meeting
We enjoyed our breakfast and wanted to spend time enjoying the atmosphere. However when we paid the bill they seemed keen for us to leave even though we hadn’t finished our tea and the place was empty.
Service was good but it is pricey. Some of the staff in the lobby and surrounding areas seemed less polite and hospitable as they did not recognise us as guest. Considering it is a hot spot due to the Home Alone 2 movie, I feel they should embrace that more and at times be more courteous as we were still paying customers.
The food was varied and we enjoyed our meal.
Great service and attention to detail. Atmosphere was unique and quality.
This had to be one of my bucket list opportunities...high tea at the plaza. Perfect in every way.
Very, very expensive but very very good.
Kabir was a fantastic waiter!!!! Amazing service.
My only wish is that children be seated in a separate section from those of us who don’t want a group of 5 year olds having a meltdown at the table next to us. Ruins the whole experience. Completely kills the vibe of a champagne high tea afternoon
We had afternoon tea at the plaza and it was amazing, treated like royalty from start to end, didn't have to lift a finger they couldn't of been more attentive. Brilliant service and can't wait to return in future
Our waiter was, Feliz and he was incredible! He was friendly, polite, thoughtful, and an overall delight! We truly appreciate his genuine care for our spectacular experience at the Palm Court!!!
Had breakfast with my grandchildren. Everyone enjoyed the experience. Food and service was excellent. Would definitely do it again.
Great experience having breakfast in The Plaza. Definitely recommend if you don't mind paying that bit extra.
Great place for a special mother/daughter lunch or outing with friends.
The Palm Court dining experience was lovely. Food was delicious and service was exceptional---superior.
The restaurant is smaller than I recalled and could use some upgrading.
However, the impeccable attention to service detail, the server and overall clean/neat appearance definitely makes up for the tired decor.
I highly recommend
We had a great time in the Palm Room for Afternoon tea. Everyone was really nice and helpful. Our waiter would ask if we wanted pictures taken and checked in at all the right times. There was plenty of food and we were even able to pack up our leftovers, which was a great surprise. They gave us a surprise gift and it was completely unexpected and above and beyond. Totally recommend.
My wife and daughter have wanted to try Afternoon Tea here for years. We finally booked it on this trip. Very pleasant ambiance, but otherwise ordinary. Service was slow to non-existent at times, portions were small and sweets only so-so. Great teas, though. It was a nice experience to try.
Fabulous food in a refined ambience - fantastic choice to celebrate a special occasion
Was quite disappointed. The food was subpar, not at all what it should have been for the price. The service was abrupt and not nearly polite or attentive enough for the caliber of hotel that the plaza is. It is a beautiful space but is diminished by the lack of quality of the food and the service. Will not come back again.
We were late to be seated even though we arrived early. The waiter did not interact with us and was arrogant. When it can to the bill he made a point that we had not tipped enough even though his service was terrible. Food was average.
Beautiful atmosphere. Overpriced but definitely enjoyed the experience.
New Year’s Day!
New years brunch
We went to have Brakfast on jan 1st. It was the worst choice we could make. There was a very, very poor selection of every kind of food. Only 2 types of bread (even no so fresh an not tasty), few selection of fruit, only 2 types of chease, only one of ham.
It realy was a big disapointment. You can find much bether brakfasts even in BB and 3/4 star hotels.
The person attending told us that only buffet was available. buffet is the most expensive option. when we realized that all table was ordering from the menu, we asked another person and we ordered from the menu. we were charged both buffet and menu. not worthy!
Presentation was lovely. Teas were all delicious and served with style. Sandwiches were delicious too. However, the scones were crumbly and the desserts were disappointing. Overly fussy and not terribly good.
Granddaughter to NYC first time
Birthday New Year’s Eve
Had Afternoon Tea at The Plaza on NYE to celebrate my 30th birthday and it was absolutely wonderful! The service, ambiance, food, and atmosphere were without a doubt unparalleled!
Always a beautiful location for breakfast. Service was good, but the meals took forever to come. Unsure of the hold up as they weren’t super busy. Also very expensive for what it is.
Amazing breakfast with tea. We have stayed here in the past but didn’t this visit. However, we just had to make a reservation for breakfast because it’s so special and delightful.
So disappointing for such an historic venue.
Service staff lacked the knowledge and attentiveness you would expect in such a place.
Surroundings were messy-tables left uncleared, wipes and wait staff things in open view. Waitress hardly came over and they weren’t very busy. No apology when food arrived late and after other tables.
Table not cleared properly after mains.
Just not what you would expect for such a place and prices.
Go if you want to imagine history in reality.
Might be relying on their history and film reputation too much?
Amazing experience of afternoon coffee especially if it’s your first time in NY. It was so good that we went there twice during our four-day stay in New York
I had tea and scones, really nice ambience with the palms, very luxurious hotel, perfect serving by our waiter, huge selection of teas. Not cheap (!!) but so worth it on special occasions. Loved it
Beautiful room. Service ok but not five star. Value justified only based on the venue not the food/beverage offerings. Do it as an experience but don’t expect wow..
The Plaza is trying its best to stay relevant and beautiful; however, the restaurant and tea service have gone downhill, especially at their exorbitant prices.
Food is decent. They didn't have standard teas available like lapsang souchong and were out of other black teas. The little sandwiches were bland and boring. The scones and pastries were the best part and very well done.
Ambiance is a struggle, but with so many running frantic around you and tables being cleaned with zero attention to noise (it was like I was watching Dennys clear a table) it's bad.
The worst is the service. It took 15 min to seat us and the front desk team made the KGB look warm and friendly. Our waiter was kind but rather incompetent. Tea came at different times. Food came out 10 minutes ahead of the tea. There was no white sugar on the table. When the food came the server describing the items was like a bull in a china shop. When we asked a question he said, "just wait for me to finish...." like we were interrupting his very stressful speech.
If the cost were $40 per person, I'd have less of an issue. At over $100 for Tea at the Plaza per person.....this was a HUGE disappointment.
