The iconic Palm Court at The Plaza hotel with a complete renovation helmed by Master Architect Thierry Despont. The Palm Court showcases classic American savory menus from morning to evening, while Despont has brought the grand feeling of Central Park indoors, creating an ambience that feels warm, private and glamorous. Bespoke furnishings provide a relaxed, yet elegant setting well-suited for either a professional breakfast meeting or an evening of cocktails crafted by mixologist Brian Van Flandern. Afternoon Tea truly shines with custom tableware and china, a tea list with worldly depth, and of course, a bit of Eloise too. Pastry Chef Matthew Lambie creates unique dessert experiences that effortlessly combine both classic and modern elements, while staying true to the Palm Court grandeur. This elegant room marked with its stained glass dome and impressive height adds a touch of old New York to a very polished and modern sense of hospitality.

I was looking forward to coming here with a friend for Afternoon Tea before visiting an exhibit. We arrived about fifteen minutes before our reservation time, and our host was very accommodating and kindly sat us. Unfortunately the pleasant experience ended there. The woman who came to take our order was harsh, abrupt, and looked less than pleased to be serving us. When some confusion arose about the per person nature of Afternoon Tea and sharing a tray versus receiving our own, we received a withering look and no helpful information. Only after we decided to share were we gruffly told there would be surcharge to do so. The sandwich fillings were too salty, the desserts too sweet, and our tea did not arrive until we were more than halfway through the tray. Only when it came time to pay did we see more of the woman who took our order, who had the audacity at one point ten minutes after receiving our check to step next to our table and flip open the ticket booklet without even asking whether we had placed credit cards inside. We felt rushed and disappointed with the whole experience and decided we would be much better off going somewhere else in future.

Wonderful setting food and service for Eloise Tea

Food was good. Venue outstanding. It’s The Plaza after all!

I thought the staff could have explained things a little better. We had to ask for a coffee top up twice. I’d expect to have to do that in a lesser rated establishment, not the plaza!

We were there overall about 90mins and I felt they were trying to hurry us a little.

Would go back for the macaroons alone! Lol

I really liked this restaurant. The food that I ordered was just ok but the service was absolutely wondering. I would return in the future and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Nice Place for a once in a while. Good for evening snacks but not for dinner!

Tea at the Palm Court is one of the most delightful things you can do with your time in New York. Our server, Kazi, was an absolute dream, and the food is delicious and light.

The Sunday brunch at $48 consisted of runny scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes with some pastries and fruit. It was so not worth the money.

While the ambience was great and the rest of our stay at the hotel was phenomenal, our brunch was sub par. When checking the restaurant out and making our reservation, we were under the impression that we would be served the full menu. Upon arriving, we were informed that it was just a buffet that was very limited as both me and my guest have dietary restrictions. They said that during their peak time they do the buffet but only half the tables, at most, were seated. The food we were able to eat was cold and the eggs were runny. I am very disappointed as we were expecting a fancy brunch when we received what is typically offered for free at many other hotels that are way less expensive. I would have liked to been informed that we would be having a buffet at the time of making my reservation. We could have just ordered room service and got the type of food we expected for the same price. Over $100 for a cold, small buffet is just a scam.

The staff is HORRIBLE. They seat tables directly beside the busy Sunday buffet line or by the kitchen, when the entire restaurant was empty for an 8:30 am reservation. I made a reservation weeks in advance, then a walk-in diner gets the better table. I was furious. The Palm is severely in need of new management. Such a shame because the space is beautiful...wish the attitudes of its employees were.

Breakfast was very good, but the service was really lacking. I expected more from the Plaza. The sick person hacking away at the table next to ours didn’t allow us to have a relaxing breakfast either.

Gorgeous date location. Recommend for anyone looking to spoil themselves and indulge in what can only be described as the most luxurious high tea in New York.

Me and my mum had a great time. They knew it was my birthday and brought out a special arrangement.

Perhaps I expected more because this was Tea at the Plaza. I’ve had high tea all over the world and I would rate this experience as simply average. Tea? Average. Scones? Average. Sandwiches? As a vegetarian- less than average. Sweets? average.

It IS the Plaza, so at least the floor show was entertaining! Everyone should have the experience once, and decide if it is special enough to come back again.
