Afternoon Tea
The iconic Palm Court at The Plaza hotel with a complete renovation helmed by Master Architect Thierry Despont. The Palm Court showcases classic American savory menus from morning to evening, while Despont has brought the grand feeling of Central Park indoors, creating an ambiance that feels warm, private and glamorous. Bespoke furnishings provide a relaxed, yet elegant setting well-suited for either a professional breakfast meeting or an evening of cocktails crafted by mixologist Brian Van Flandern. Afternoon Tea truly shines with custom tableware and china, a tea list with worldly depth, and of course, a bit of Eloise too. Pastry Chef Matthew Lambie creates unique dessert experiences that effortlessly combine both classic and modern elements, while staying true to the Palm Court grandeur. This elegant room marked with its stained glass dome and impressive height adds a touch of old New York to a very polished and modern sense of hospitality.

The food was excellent, but the service was sub-par. Other tables with other waiters seemed to have great service, but our waiter was kind of clueless. Never checked on us, we had to ask another member of the waitstaff to find him, etc.

Afternoon tea was wonderful, shame we had to get in a long queue even though we had booked. Would have been nice if they had opened 15 mins earlier to welcome people.

Recently visited the Palm Court for the afternoon tea with a girlfriend. We had an excellent experience. The service was great and the food was so good. It was a little pricey, but definitely worth a visit if you have never been there.

This is a beautiful restaurant in an iconic hotel. The service was flawless and far from snooty. There was plenty to eat even for the 2 men in our group. The sandwiches and sweets were delicious. We were provided with containers and bags for leftovers. Be prepared to spend about $115 for each diner.

This was a great experience in a lovely atmosphere. Glad we booked as the line to just have a drink as massive and outdoors in the NYC cold!!

I was very disappointed in this visit to The Palm Court. There were many seats open and available in the larger more open areas of the dining room yet we were crammed into a small table behind the bar and very close to other patrons. No egg salad sandwiches were served as the menu indicates they will be, yet the waiter never pointed that out. The sandwiches were not good at all this time and were not served in the usual format. Servers were just average. Overall it was a very sub par experience and we will not go back even though we have been regular patrons over the past five years.

For the price the service was NOT GOOD and the bathroom situation is terrible for the amount of people in and out of the hotel.

We had the most attentive staff. They also heard that it was our 10th time being there. This is a special celebration of my daughters in law and myself. They bent over backwards to make it even more special. We will be coming here forever

I would recommend the Palm Court as a one and done experience. I was happy that we went and had a great dessert. We had a reservation and they were hesitant to sit us even though there were many open tables. The server seemed annoyed by us... maybe because we were just getting dessert and drinks (9:30 PM at night). I thought it was a cool place and our son loved his huge sundae. Glad we went but will not be back on our next trip!

Birthday afternoon tea. Was ok, the hostess didn’t even tell us we could have a drink at the bar while we wait. Server was a bit rude. I’m pescatarian and I and asked for no mean just more of the fish and egg sandwiches they brought me peanut butter and jam which i didn’t like. The toilets were out of order so had to go downstairs. Was just ok.

The food and tea are worth it. My wife and I had the New Yorker with English Breakfast Tea and Jasmine Pearls. The hotel and Palm Court are beautiful. I do suggest reservations! As for the service, the staff was friendly, but once you got your tray and tea, that was about all you saw of them until you needed your check. You have to do tea at The Plaza at least once in your lifetime. We enjoyed it so much that whenever we are back in the city, this is a must do.

The assistance getting us to our table was very rude and unprofessional. The wet chair I was supposed to sit on was cleaned with a wet tissue so it ended up me cleaning it on my own. No excuse of the lady - she was not willing to help or do her job.
In my food I found a hair. Thanks for giving me this food for free in the end but even the manager did not apologised at all. He just wanted me to understand that there are a lot of people working on preparing the food and that things like this can happen. They can, yes. But not for a 125$ meal. Especially if the toast of the bites were not fresh at all. If you prepare the food ahead make sure to keep them right during the time you are serving. And in addition the hotel should check on the toilets more often. No toilet paper, it was smelling and the floor was wet. Unfortunately me and my family had a very bad time at your place

This was our second visit to the Palm Court. The July visit was fabulous. Outstanding service made the visit a day to remember forever. We could not wait to return to the city and come back for another Palm Court experience.

Unfortunately, the service this time totally ruined the experience. Our server was inattentive, only poured one cup of tea and was very difficult to understand. We had to ask another staff member to identify the food selections.

He disappeared throughout our stay and finally brought the check after three requests.

Based on this experience, I would not recommend the Palm Court. It was definitely not worth the $125/person.

Our server wasn’t attentive had to request the champagne add on. Requested hot water and never received it was never offered fresh tea. Waited over 20 mins for the bill only to be over charged and the server said it was correct, when we eventually got the waiter back after another 15 mins he corrected it and said it was a system mistake! Unfortunately we won’t be back. We was at blue box by Tiffany the day before and the food and service was 110% better and 50% cheaper x

It has been my dream for years to come along to the Plaza Hotel. It came true on Wednesday 4th Dec. I loved every minute of it. We choose the New Yorker afternoon tea with Champagne. It did not disappoint. All the sandwiches were fresh and tasty as well as the scones. Cakes were yummy. Our server Feriz was lovely and very hospitable. Couldn’t do enough for us. I will be back for my daughters 16th birthday. Just a shame it’s 4 years away.

Arrived at the plaza and was shown my the door man to the restaurant, once we checked in for afternoon tea we were left waiting and the lady whom took are name was very unpleasant and didn’t bother to tell us to do anything. We then asked someone who then assisted us. however the rest of the staff were fantastic, explained the menu well and specially the teas on offer. 3 of us had the New Yorker and one of us had the champagne tea. It was perfect. We then went to the bar afterwards and had a few cocktails. The plaza is a beautiful hotel and was a lovely experience. The afternoon tea was pricey but worth it. I would highly recommend anyone to try it.

Going for afternoon at the Palm Court was a wonderful experience. The service, food, and ambiance was great! It is pricy, but you pay for the name. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas time and everyone was so polite. I will say that the area we were sat in was quite crammed even though I had made a reservation far in advance, and there were plenty of other open areas.

The Palm Court is definitely a special occasion and kid-friendly way to have afternoon tea, especially at the holiday season. This is our second year doing it and likely our last. The cost is very dear for what it is, which is essentially not special enough to warrant the prices.

We waited nearly 40 minutes for our seat even with a reservation. The hostess didn’t give us any information while waiting other than our table was being set up - nearly 6 parties sat before us. For a location of that caliber, I would have expected much better service. Would not return.

The service was terrible. They were 30-45 minutes behind with reservations. The hostess was clearly over worked, but extremely rude. They forgot to find us when our table was finally ready. Once seated it took over 20 minutes for anyone to come speak to us. Tea and sandwiches took another 30 minutes. We didn’t see or hear from anyone else on the wait staff until our bill just appeared at our table. For the price, location, etc.; I would expect a much higher level of service. This is terrible service even if it was a diner in the middle of nowhere. Terrible.

The star attraction to attending the high tea at The Palm is their ambiance. Our party all ordered the Holiday High Tea. Our lead male server took our order and only returned to settle the account. Their savories and sweets were eye catching and delicious. Over all, due to the lack of service it seemed more like a 3 - 4 star experience rather than the 5 star I would have wanted and expected to provide.
