Great first NYC breakfast!
Beautiful setting- worth seeing but everything else was so disappointing. The service was terrible, our waiter told us to be quick ordering as the kitchen is slow but it wasn’t. Asked to swap the type of bread, the waiter essentially said ‘no’ and asked if I wanted spinach instead (twice!)- the opposite of bread! He was all about the business with us and lovely to others around us. Food average, awful presentation except for the fruit and the actual table setting was lovely. And very expensive but I thought it would be worth it, it wasn’t. So disappointed.
Great service and good
This place is just Magical! No other way to describe it.
The actual experience was nice. But the front staff, omg. When I got their early before my friend I simply let them know that I was there and they were not. I was greated with a short "were seating by reservation". I told them that I understood and I was just letting them know. Fast forward, my other person got there and there was a long line but we let the staff know we were both there. The girls barely looked up at the crowd as it took 3 people to read what was on the computer screen. At one point my friend said "I've never felt so ignored"
They were seating people late and when I (politely despite starting to get a little annoyed) asked how long it would take (it was a little hot right there) the person at the front looks at the screen, then calls another woman over, they talk about how they sat someone before me, they say nothing to me although I just heard that then tell me "a few more mins" which is what they said before. I said okay. Then we got seated about 18 mins after our reservation. I completely understand things happen but it rubbed me the wrong way esp after the FIRST thing said to me was "were seating by reservation".
Despite that, the actual service, food, ambiance was great!
Had afternoon tea with my best friend and it was really a fantastic experience. Not cheap but definitely worth doing at least once. Food was delicious and service was amazing.
I would not recommend this place. I asked the server to pack the leftovers for me to go however, when I got home, I opened the box of dessert to something different. The dessert that I ordered was not in the box, it was someone else’s leftovers that they wanted to takeout. This shows their poor customer service and disorganization.
Overpriced for what you get very casual toilets poor not a patch on the ritz in London very disappointed booked for my daughters birthday but nothing said about same
We took our 10yo daughter for the Eloise afternoon tea. It was such an enjoyable experience. While she experimented with the sandwiches and tea she really loved the cotton candy. The service was wonderful and atmosphere was beautiful!
For 112.00 dollars per person, I would think that they would check and make sure ur tea was still hot, which it was not. Brought our champagne and tea at the same time, and when we asked for another champagne , we were given an additional fee. It was difficult to get the attention of our server. Could be much better and should be for the price.
The food was good, but maybe something to keep the scones warm. The deserts were hit and miss, the cheesecakes were good.
The best ambiance and service you’ll find anywhere. Two thumbs up.
Tea at the Plaza is a definite must in NYC. They absolutely do it right - from the food to the service! It is the best! AND....if you are lucky enough to get Kazi to wait on you you are in for a real treat! We will be back each time we are in NYC!
The Palm Court is looking tired. Chandeliers need to be cleaned. The service was very slow and waiters not familiar menu. Very disappointing expensive experience.
Very enjoyable dining experience - highly recommend
Overpriced and food was nothing special. Scones, cakes and sandwiches were not particularly exceptional given the amount we had to pay of almost 100 dollars per person
If you’re looking for the most classic and glamorous high tea, this is it! We were especially impressed with their gluten free/vegan options!
Attended Sunday tea with my 13-year-old daughter. Our server was borderline rude when I told him we would be sharing one tea tray. Didn't check back on us throughout the service until he dropped off the check. Very disappointing. Go to the Russian Tea Room or the Pierre if you want a high tea experience without the attitude.
Love the brunch here!
Our waiter was so attentive and friendly. He made our experience a great one!
Little over priced but everything was very nice.
Hi, we had an afternoon tea at the Plaza and it was a disaster from the start. Even though our reservation was for 1-30pm we were made to stand outside and wait for 35 minutes before being seated. Then the waiter we had was rude and rude could be, slamming things down on the mirrored table in an aggressive way and saying things like ‘what do you want’ in a shouting manner when taking our order. Then the tea....there was no tea bag or loose leaf tea in the pot so the tea was so weak like dishwater. I’ve had a better cup of tea at home with supermarket teabags. What a horrid experience and we won’t be back anytime soon
Girls weekend in the city
It was definitely a fun experience but I don't think I would pay to do that again. The food was mediocre at best but the tea tasted great. It was an something I enjoyed during my time in the city.
25 mn waiting to get a bad granola and two eggs. Outrageouly expensive for insignificant breakfast. A pure frauf even if the place l9oks quite nice.
Absolute rip off. Avoid Avoid Avoid. Love afternoon tea and have eaten it in many wonderful places. This was not one of them! Like eating in the middle of a busy transport terminal. Sandwiches poor and not replenished. Scones over baked. And cake selection very unimaginative. Expected much more for the cost.
We received a friendly greeting and seated in a timely manner. Our server didn’t really explain or discuss the menu, we observed other servers taking the tome to do this, and he was not very friendly at all.
It was my birthday
High Tea with my sister
It was the best breakfasts my girlfriend and I have ever had. We were very excited before we went and it didn't disappoint at all. Of course it is on the pricey side, but you get great quality of food and great service for the price you are paying and the ambience is amazing.
Amazing service love the little touch for birthdays couldn’t have asked for any more
An elegant way to spend an afternoon. Not for every day, but a real treat when you want to celebrate a special occasion.
The perfect place to start your day whether celebrating something special or just looking for a quiet place. Service was fantastic and food was exceptional.
The place is very beautiful. But the lady at the front desk was very cold, almost rude, so we felt unwelcome at this place. They seated us at the very end of the room (we made reservation at least a month ago and during all the time we were there the room was half empty). The food was average.
Lovely afternoon and experience. You are paying for the location thou
I live In the city and had my mom and her friend visiting. I had a reservation for three at noon. We sat down, we’re admiring the amazing decor, ceiling, art, etc. 10 minutes later, with 90% of the restaurant empty, they sat 6 children under 6 years old at the table directly next to us. While the kids were cute, it was not the experience we were hoping for and when we asked if we could move they said no and the server literally backed away from the table and never brought it up again. It was a fun 1 time thing, but I won’t be bringing anyone back.
There used to be a charm about the Plaza Hotel, especially the palm court high tea. I sensed that the charm is no longer there. It all looks and feels quite similar on the surface, but something has unfortunately changed, or missing rather. I still had a good experience with my dear friend, but I won't necessarily go out of my way to recommend the palm court.
We had a wonderful day celebrating our moms birthday. Service and food was great. Cant wait to go back again!
