We had high tea and it was extremely expensive and the food was bad. The sandwiches were ehh.. no egg salad, no ham and gruyere.. There were no plain scones like there used to be- the scones they gave were one cheese/chive and one chocolate.. and yet they still gave the clotted cream, lemon and jam… but for what? To put on the cheese/chive scone?? Ewww no thanks! This experience was super expensive and the food was straight up mediocre/bad. The ambiance and service were beautiful, but for that expense I would go elsewhere like Tiffanys. So sorry to write this bad review, but it was super disappointing.

The food was really mediocre, nothing refined and surely didn't justify the price. The service was terrible, sloppy and impolite, they made us leave after 50' of being there, the, probably what was, manager was saying things out loud like "table x has been here for two hours, they should leave". A really poor experience for a hefty price, to be avoided, since the only thing that was good was the building itself.

I have dreamt of going to the plaza since I was a child and was so thrilled to finally have the opportunity. I’ll start off with the positives. The hotel itself is beautiful and the Palm Court Restaurant is stunning. The details are gorgeous. And the tea we chose was so amazing! I was a bit disappointed that the tea did not come out that hot; but that was fine. Our service was nice, but nothing exceptional. It felt like basic service and not what we would expect for the plaza Where I feel like the experience fell short was the food. There was not one savory item that was good. There were 2 that were okay, but the others were not even palatable. It didn’t feel fresh, and the bread was stale, and the flavors were SO lackluster. With the desserts the flavors were a bit better. But we could taste the refrigerated smell on the chocolate and a lot of the desserts were “sweating” which means it was not set properly. It truly was a disappointment. For the amount you pay, there was nothing special about this experience. I have gone to many tea houses and all of them exceptionally cheaper, but with a better experience and better food. Save your money, do not choose to experience afternoon tea here

Listen, our service at Palm Court was exemplary (and I know I’m supposed to be reviewing this place exclusively), but the Plaza management needs to get its act together in terms of its security and staff’s snotty treatment of guests. While we were waiting for our $500+ table at the Palm Court, I was BERATED by some snotty security guards about picture taking — because, I assume, I wasn’t wearing Dior and toting a Louie. If it were wise, the Plaza staff would recognize that every single person who walks through their doors has a VERY good chance of being someone influential who could lose them their jobs if they hear the wrong tone. They’re lucky that’s not me (even though I ASSURE you I make more than both guards’ salaries COMBINED). The attitudes of the people who work in places like this and the Beverly Hills Hotel are getting so exhausting. JUST BE NICE TO PEOPLE. Sure, they might just be overexcited tourists. But if they’re not putting anyone in danger, LEAVE THEM ALONE. And if someone REALLY doesn’t want to end up in a photo, they sure as heck had better not be eating lunch in a WILDLY overpopulated hotel lobby. Good grief. I didn’t see a SINGLE person not snapping photos in and around the Palm Court, so I can only assume I got the sharp edge of these two gentlemen’s tongues because I didn’t “look the part.” How utterly boring and uncreative for an overpriced hotel. Shock me next time by treating EVERYONE with respect.

The ambience is great. However, the food and tea presentation is as not as it was the last time I was here 20 years ago. The savory scone was delish but the valrhona chocolate scone was hard as a hockey puck. Tepid tea and loose leaf strainers equals no presentation.

Great experience. Was ok. Felt rushed the min I walked in by the server asking me to pick my food selection now and to pick for my friend who was 10 min late. The waiter though was very polite and kind and told me to take my time. The ambience is relaxing and the food was great. Overall I would give this a 7 out of 10. It’s great for all occasions.

The food was dynamite and everything was spectacular. Kudos to the chef. But it was too much sugar. While we were enchanted we would do tea more often if there were more savory options. Or even just not SO sweet. When i make scones i use less sugar and recipients can ramp up the sugar with jam, lemon curd, etc.

This is an extremely expensive experience. The food was good, but I’m not a lot of it, the table was way too small, and the service was OK. Because gratuity added, there’s a little effort to earn your gratuity. I was expecting more effort to make it feel special.

This is a total scam - value is not there. Nothing like a proper afternoon tea at a luxury hotel in London for example. Overpriced, you can’t get refills on any food or tea (standard for this price typically). Server mumbled, barely talked to us, explained nothing about menu or food once it arrived. So stupid.

I was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the well known Palm Court at the Plaza Hotel. First of all the lack of knowledge on the servers part. Not explaining what we were getting on the afternoon Tea menu and not knowing the ingredients in a food item is very important . Not mentioning we could change an item if we did not like something. No attention to detail or customer questions at all. The food was tasteless and cold. Not room temperature as some of the tea Sandwiches should have been. What happened to elegance and quality??? At 150.00 per person I would expect that! As someone like many others who work hard for a living and cela special Birthday this was a BIG disappoint.

The Palm Court may have been the single most disappointing experience in fine dining I’ve had. Long story short, because our waiter automatically added a gratuity to our table of 4 - we never saw him again after taking our order. I had to go to the hostess stand to ask for our check. I finished my tea and was not offered another. We got 1 refill of water from a back waiter. The general consensus at my table was that the cucumber sandwich was the tastiest of the entire tower,. The lamb tasted like a bologna sandwich. Sub par food aside, at least the tea was good. Would have loved to had more. Being “that kind of waiter” is extremely tacky in an establishment like this. You go to the Plaza for the service and ambiance. The service ruined the ambiance, and I will gladly spend my money elsewhere in the future.

This does not come anywhere near to an afternoon tea experience in London, UK. Insanely expensive - $600 for 4 .. small selection of sandwiches (bread was not fresh and sandwiches appeared to have been pre-frozen), tea was tasteless and scones were very small. Expected far better for the money - I almost feel ripped off!

The Plaza is more about the experience than the food but gosh has the quality dropped. Stale bread, low quality product, and cooks who must be in their first year of culinary school (or the kids who didn’t make the grade). What a huge disappointment. The tea tasted mass produced. The service was mostly ok, but not exceptional. This all really detracted from the experience that a trip to the Plaza should be.
