Thank you Kabir for making this such a wonderful experience and a very happy memory. The three of us loved it all. Food so yummy and very pretty. The Pastry Chef who came out, brought us our favorite bites and then hugged me; a very special memory and we all got a good laugh. He was fun, Kabir was very attentive and all and all a perfect memory. Look forward to being back and making another happy memory. Thank you. Isabel Asher

The staff was very kind. But the food was mediocre. And, the atmosphere looked very tired and worn. I expected more from The Plaza.

Of course we were paying for the experience but the sandwiches were mediocre and tasted like they had been I. The fridge all day. The scones were also bland and not very big. They forgot to bring jam and cream until I searched out someone to get it. The desserts were very yummy. The best part of the meal. Still for $150 per person with tax and gratuity, it was not at all worth the expense.

It is a lovely setting and memorable thing to do, but we wish we had just gone to the lobby bar. The check-in took 15-20 minutes, the service was very slow, the food and beverage were not good, and the bill was high. One highlight was the people-watching!

Having tea at one of the best “tea spots” in nyc - Waiter too a while to understand what of the 3 different menus we wanted to go with. Being a very attentive guest, I find it weird that on my way back from the washroom my napkin wasn’t properly folded - especially after spending $350 for 2 teas and a very poor taste snacks. The hostess asked - what is the reason for your tea time today? And I mentioned it was our 1st year anniversary - didn’t expect anything but I know that every restaurant would do something for picking them as the place to go for such an important event. It’s sad seeing such a beautiful place, the charm, the history…going down for what is supposed to be the minimum requirement that it should be applied here. 1st and last time for tea

Disappointing for the price. Savoury items tasty but pastry was hard. Chocolate scones are wrong, as is lemon curd. The only alternative to chocolate scone was 2 savoury scones, so missed out on the jam and cream. Would never recommend, sorry.

I felt the service was okay. With the amount per person, I felt service would be more exceptional. No one explained the tea or the sandwiches, which is common in London. Be sure the waiters know your product and interact with guest beyond a “hello” and take your order.

We had awful experience during the tea. The service was severely unsatisfactory. Our waiter never checked on us. From our table we could see another section having great service ie: their server was pouring tea when there cups were getting empty, checking to make sure everything was going great etc. Not sure if I would recommend to anybody out of fear that their experience would be poor and ruin the experience. We had such high hopes and high expectations… what a pity.

While the food and setting were incredible, I must admit disappointment at a few things that occurred during our afternoon tea. First, one of the items on the tea wasn’t available and a substitute was used. That’s fine but there was no mention of this beforehand and was particularly upsetting when the item we wanted was the most we were looking forward to. You don’t order a lobster spaghetti and have them substitute crab without telling you and the same applies here. Also for a $400 tea, some of the service was a little bewildering. One server carried a used teapot so poorly that it poured all on the carpet as he walked. Later a knife was dropped in plain sight and 5 staff walked past it before it was collected. Our tea was given to the wrong individual. A birthday cake - though nice - was given to myself and not my partner (the birthday girl!) when she was identified as such at check-in. While we’re understanding that mistakes happen, I wouldn’t expect 5/6 mistakes to happen back to back, and hopefully not at the Plaza.

The ambiance and service was as expected, exceptional! However, we were a bit disappointed when we were not permitted the choice to select the various types of finger sandwiches we would like to have had with our tea. After selecting the type of tea service you wanted, the menu selection was all inclusive. If you did not like or fancy a foie gras finger sandwich, you could not substitute it for example, another cucumber sandwich. It appears to be a simple request, especially when the sandwiches seems to be premade and just need to be plated. I would definitely have to reconsider returning for afternoon tea.

Loved our tea at Palm Court. It is a fabulous tradition and we love having afternoon tea whenever we can. I am a true English lady and I wish the flavors were more afternoon tea authentic. We have tea at Harrods, the Fairmont in Quebec City, in the Cotswold.., so I love tea but wished for more traditional sandwiches and scones. Everything else was lovely.

Don't waste your money. The gluten free tea choice was absolutely horrible. The scones were like sand and the bread on the sandwiches were made out of white rice flour, so they got stale as they sat out. The fillings were spare. The service was fair. Never again will I go there or recommend anyone.

I was really excited for this experience as my daughter and I LOVE high tea. I figured the high tea at the Plaza/Palm Court would be something really nice and elegant and we were disappointed. It was okay but for the price it was not okay. We spent $470 (gratuity was included in this price) for a 3 person tea with NO alcohol. We had a vegan tea for $120, a vegetarian tea for $120 and my husband’s tea must have been around the same or a little more but he is an omnivore so his would have had meat (maybe). I am glad we did it because now I know but if I had known what the ambiance was, the food tasted like and the cost would have been, I would not have gone. I have been to way nicer teas at half the cost. The tea selection was also very unimpressive and we had to send back two of our teas because they tasted almost like water. This experience was “meh” at best but at the price they charge I would say do a different tea. We really like Lady Mendl’s. The Palm Court didn’t even have sugar cubes. We were very disappointed.

To be fair, I did already know this was going to be an overpriced experience but I thought the food would at least be outstanding. Caveat that I am gluten-free so had a modified menu but I was not impressed with a single item. Service was lovely, as is the setting, but wanted to be wowed by the food.

We attended Easter tea at the Plaza and it was lovely! Incredibly expensive, but at least the food was worth the price. And the ambience can't be beat. There were scones, sandwiches, and various bite-sized goodies -- both sweet and savory. The best Earl Grey tea I've ever had. Plus the Easter Bunny! We had a wonderful time.

Quite disappointed with the food, flavors not correctly combined, even for me as a sweet tooth person. We went for afternoon tea. It is true that I went with high expectations, but we left things uneaten. Not good sweet or savour. Flavours were mixed with no delicacy. Lacking balance in the food. I am not one that typically leaves reviews, but this time I feel something went wrong with the cheff choices. Maybe a better place to go for dinner or a drink, but not for afternoon tea. Sorry, but I have to say it was the worst afternoon tea I had, and we are a quite experience family in having tea from 5 star hotels to on a real budget.

We had contacted the Plaza to confirm a booking for The Central Park afternoon tea which they confirmed for us. However, when we arrived we were told that the only available option was the Easter tea. This, at no point was explained to us beforehand. We then had no choice but to have a more expensive afternoon tea with items that we would not have eaten. We asked could something be supplemented instead of the items we don't eat and we were told no. We compromised on picking a few things from the savoury menu that we would eat and they duplicated these for us instead. The food itself was lovely but we should have been told beforehand that the option we booked was not available. The courtyard was very busy with people in and out all the time and not the atmosphere we thought it would be like. It is also quite overpriced for the overall experience received.

I wanted to treat my adult daughter to something special for her birthday. I knew this was a splurge but decided to go for it for the experience. When I booked my reservation there were three levels, the lowest was $135 per person and it went up from there. When we arrived they only offered a special Easter menu that was $150. (I’m not including kid menu in this.) I’ll admit the Easter themed foods were cute but taste-wise they were hit and miss. The service was very average, for instance I’ve been to places where they quickly clean off your sugar packets as you’re dining - not here. They basically took our order, brought the tea/food and left. At the end of the day it was a $400 tea for two after taxes and tip. No alcohol, no extras other than the $12 bottle of Evian that we didn’t know we were purchasing when we agreed to still water. The Plaza is lovely, can’t deny that. So to sum up, glad we did it for the experience but wouldn’t do it again.

Underwhelming from start to finish. Nothing was explained. Told we had one choice ( no trouble as we like trying all foods). Food arrived and was left without any explanation. Didn’t realise scones were wrapped in a serviette. Smothered one with jam and cream only to realise in eating it that it was onion or some other savoury scone. Tea wasn’t refilled despite promises.
