This was a horrific, overpriced experience. The waiter did not want us to pick our own tea flavors, was not friendly or attentive, made mistakes on food, and more. When we told the manager, nothing was done except the waiter coming over to explain defensively why he was not wrong or doing anything bad. Not what I expected for the price of this tea or the reputation it has. A terrible experience for what should have been a wonderful occasion

Although it doesn’t look like a lot, the signature tea meal was very filling and we especially enjoyed the salmon and caviar. The sweets were mostly very good although some were a bit sweeter than we like.

The food was ok , the staff did the minimum nothing more, there was a tacky party going on with a girl lying down with a glass of champagne and her feet prompt up on a couch … hardly what I had expected … the English tea was fabulous , the cakes disappointing … I was underwhelmed and felt it over priced . NOT the experienced we were hoping for … pass this one by …..

The Palm Court at The Plaza was a wonderful. A friendly atmosphere and beautiful accommodations. The staff will certainly make you feel special. The afternoon tea service is well worth it. The servings of tea are delicious. The food was beautifully plated and tasted just as good as it looked. Our dining experience was a pleasure.

Service was quite disappointing, especially considering the 50% service fee included on our bill. While the food and tea were fine, the service overall was just shockingly poor. One example: I had a big fly into my champagne and the waiter watched me try to get it out, even coming over to see what we were looking at, and as I explained that a bug had flown into my drink he just replied with “oh okay” and walked off - no offer to assist or get another glass. Overall I was disappointed with just how much the experience and service has deteriorated over the years. I have always loved bringing visiting guests for tea at The Plaza because it was a special New York City experience, but after such a disappointing visit I will look for alternatives in the future.

Sadly the Palm Court has lost it’s elegance of the past - most guests are wearing shorts and t-shirts, and the ambiance is very touristic. The tea was over steeped, and for 430 dollars (for three people) that is an issue indeed. The tea sandwiches were nothing special, sadly. The renovation that was done looks a bit tacky, especially the lounge where you might have to wait before being seated : blue lights covered in disney-esque motifs. For the price, it is definitely not worth it.

I have been going to Palm Court tea for 30 years. Before refurbishment and new management, the food quality, decor, and pastry serving dishes were better. It now feels crowded with bar in middle and tables squeezed together. No longer gives the feeling of Versailles as it once did. Food quality is not as good as before. Is overpriced for the quality of food and ambiance.

The palm court has a nice ambiance. That said, the tea has gone downhill -- the food simply wasn't up to standard. The sandwiches were dry and not freshly made and the desserts were not tasty - either too sweet or just tasted bad. The tea water wasn't hot or refreshed.

The Plaza Hotel is iconic, as is The Palms for Afternoon Tea, so it would be difficult not to be impressed. Having said that, for me and my party, there was something missing in the experience. I think it was the waiters. They did not smile. They were not particularly welcoming. Somehow, they made the experience less than. A pity for it truly is something that should be superb, especially for the price.

Cream tea eliminate of the afternoon tea is no good in my opinion. Double cream instead of clotted which is a new one on me. Scones been messed about with to much, why they have to try to put a twist on things I never know. 1 scone was unknown to me but came with a unpleasant aftertaste and the 2nd scone was chive flavour which was strange all-round. It was greasy and tasteless. Total cost was $274 dollars which was far to expensive for what was served up. I booked the plaza knowing it was expensive but expected a premium product, sadly it didn't deliver. Even had an apology from George the manager who said he had allready received complaints about the scones, but obviously there not worried as they know I'll never be back as its an 8 hr flight for me. Wish I had booked some where else, was part of my wife's 50th celebrations. Will be remembered alright.

Everything was perfect. Took my mom for a special ladies tea and the Palm Court did not disappoint. The sandwiches and sweets were fresh and delicious, and we each got a different tea menu so that we could try everything. We went on a Friday - highly suggest going during a non peak time. We were there for over 2 hours, and were not rushed out because they needed the table. Yes it’s pricey, but it was so special and well worth the money. My mother has wanted to do this for years, and she was so happy/ touched she actually got a little teary a few times during while we were there. * if you are considering taking your child, there was a little girl there with her parents and sister for her bday. The staff sang (quietly) happy birthday to her and just made a little show of her bday. It was so sweet and special!

I've been having High Tea at The Plaza for many years and always loved it. I must say that the finger sandwiches you USED to have were by far better than what I got yesterday. They should be small and thin, as they are in The UK. Yesterday's were too large and clumsy and it was just too filling. We ended up bringing ALL the pastries home, along with some of the sandwiches, because we just couldn't eat any of them. I don't think this is the intent of "tea". The finger sandwiches were like small club sandwiches, with 3 pieces of bread and too much filling. Really a bad decision to change what was so fabulous. Please go back to what you used to make. It was perfect and why change things when they work so well.
