It was a friends birthday! And the plaza went out of their way to make the afternoon a very special one! Our waiter Kazi was fantastic. He added so much laughter and made the whole tea experience a truly enjoyable one..... was a wonderful afternoon and such a fun place to have a ladies afternoon!
I have been waiting YEARS to experience afternoon tea at The Plaza Hotel. Though the experience was wonderful I was a bit disappointed in the service as I felt somewhat rushed through it.
Lovely hotel, wonderful waitstaff. Our reservation was for a Special birthday breakfast at the Palm Court restaurant and we were blown away by the attentive service and delicious food.
The Palm Court was beautiful in regard to the décor, however contrary to the reputation of The Plaza Hotel it was a bit subpar. I expected a more sophisticated clientele and No pets. Patrons wore baseball caps and ripped jeans. For the money that was spent I expected much more ambiance.
Celebrating with Mom and Sister - birthdays
Wonderful venue of course. Service was disappointing. I had to remind staff for the missing beverage order...and then they forgot about my cappuccino refill and side dish. Delay in eating our meal due to missing cutlery.
Food itself was good.
I am sorry to say that thew tea at the Palm Court has a lopt to be said. I guess we remember what it uased to be before but this expirience was regretful the food specially the sandwiches were miserable like from a fast food counter the Tea we had no list of what choice we had , the scones 2 were not real scones.
In a few words we were all very disappointed and to top it off when you needed to ise rest room facilities you had to walk miles past a food court to find rest rooms not clean and full of people buying souvenirs or food. very disappointed
Setting - The setting was stunning however the furniture and fabrics where tired looking compared to The Palm Court at The Ritz in London. There where seats with backs that had no covering just bare wood and chairs and sofas that had passementerie hanging off them.
Service - All the carry on that happened when we went to pay at the upright counter, the person waiting the counter said nothing to us about having to pay at the table and then we were ushered back to take a seat at a table to pay...I mean what a clumsy finish to what was meant to be a polished establishment.
Value - Four people each ordered a side of bacon which was $11 per side which is up there but when four pieces of bacon arrived in one dish I though surely it’s not $11 for one piece of bacon. I question the inadequacy and another dish with four pieces arrived confirming that it was intact $11 for one piece of bacon.
We had the Afternoon tea. Impeccable service.
A fabulous experience in a beautiful environment. Staff were great and pleasant. Will definitely return for special occasions.
Fantastic place to celebrate a birthday!! Our waitress Ursula was outstanding.
Food and ambiance were amazing as always. However, the service was subpar. We expected much more from the Plaza hotel then waiting 10+ minutes to have our waiter come to take our order, bring our coffee/tea, and pay the bill when they were not busy. We had to search for our waiter multiple times to even take care of us and most of the staff was standing around talking to each other. Wonderful breakfast food but the service left this experience feeling lackluster and overpriced for nothing special.
We had a wonderful time celebrating my daughter's birthday! It was an amazing experience and the service was amazing. Thank you!!
High tea for my daughters birthday celebration!
Terrible experience. Waiter was extremely rude.
Everyone on the staff is charming. This was a return for our traditional 3 generation birthday celebration. This time for my daughter. My granddaughter who is very at home at the Palm Ct. at three, is treated with tremendous respect.
We would have preferred lunch menus as had on past visits. 12:15, is much too early for formal tea with no options.
Our experience was lovely in the most beautiful space.
We went for tea. I chose the champagne option. I would have had more than one glass of champagne had our waiter ever come back to check on us. I had to ask another waiter for our check. We went 20 minutes without anyone checking on us.
Great experience. Was all we had dreamed about.
Best three hours of the day!
Wonderful place and a classic in New York. The vegan afternoon tea was good. There is some improvement potential in providing vegan alternatives for butter and clotted cream accompanying the scones.
The food is a bit overprized though we found it worth to pay for the ambiance.
A big compliment to the young "chef de service" from Dallas, who connected to us in a natural and inspiring way, making us feel very comfortable.
May his young talent flourish further and inspire the Plaza culture.
I booked the Plaza for Champagne High Tea for my daughters pre wedding party . 10 ladies all from Australia. I sent out invitations and asked the girls to dress up. This was a great experience and everyone love it. The food was amazing, good service and attentive staff. It is expensive, but a once in a lifetime treat for us.
I highly recommend this for a girls special event.
The venue was spectacular and the experience should have been great - unfortunately a nearby table of 3 mothers with 3 children thought it was McDonalds and their kids ran uncontrollably impacting the ambience for others. For $82US per person I expected better.
Our Waiter was Exceptionally nice and helpful! Food presentation was Very Well done and even if you were actually hungry, there was plenty to eat. The Plan Court couldn't be a better example of "Traditional New York" hotel dinning and Everything you would have expected from this pristine property from years gone by.
Loved the experience and we wail be back. THANK YOU!
Be warned. If you book the first reservation at 12:00....they didn't begin seating people until 12:10. Then they proceeded to seat one table at a time, every 5 minutes. We were the 2nd group to check in at 11:45 and yet we weren't seated until 12:35. No one even came to our table to take our tea order until 1:00, and that was after I had to get up and find someone. Very disappointing!! At that price point, we should have been treated much better than that. Also, only one working restroom available for hotel guests, upstairs. Only 2 stalls. There were 15 women in line. Would NOT recommend visiting the Plaza Hotel!
Our waiter, Fariz, was extremely pleasant and courteous. He made excellent recommendations, and his choice of teas was outstanding. We very much loved the day! Thank you.
Lovely setting but terribly disappointing tea service. The scones were delicious but the rest of the savory bites were quite mediocre at best. The dessert bites were cloyingly sweet. For the $100+ per person price, I would say this is a tourist trap to avoid!
It was a fun experience to wander the Plaza hotel! The service is amazing and the food was standard brunch fare.
My boyfriends mom was visiting for the weekend. We took her to The Palm Court to have dinner and she loved it. The atmosphere was nice and they played jazz music which she loved. The service was also great. The food was delicious. Their Cesar salad is amazing! Next time I want to go back for the Afternoon Tea~
This was an amazing tea. The service was impeccable, food awesome and champagne even better. A must. I cannot wait to go back.
Such a delight to be served by the most fabulous servers, Khalid and Fabriz. They knew what a treat it was us for to enjoy high tea at the Plaza and they made sure it was an extra special experience for us.
It was a fantastic experience. Fritz was amazing!!
Very disappointing. The food was over cooked. Salmon was dry and we needed a steak knife to cut the chicken. Lovely place and staff but I would only go for a drink.
Our server was fantastic. He overhead me mention that it was my daughter's birthday. He brought out a surprise and sang. Also, they have a Gluten Free menu for tea - that was very good.
Came here for afternoon tea for a friends bachelorette party. Loved the ambiance, but the desserts could have been better (too sweet for my taste). Also very expensive for what you get. You’re definitely paying for being on The Plaza. Beautiful nonetheless!!
We were sat down 30 minutes past reservation time. Waiter approached table asked if we were ready to order in a rude manner. Slamming of cutlery onto tables, abhors me service. Diner service with upscale prices. DO NOT go here!!!!!
What can you say? It's The Palm Court at The Plaza Hotel! It's a beautiful room where we had an outstanding brunch. I had the lobster omelet & my wife had the brioche french toast. Both great as was the pastry basket. Old world top notch service. After all these years it's one of the few places that you still get that kind of service. You won't get better treatment anywhere.
The service was outstanding especially from Kazi. He really went out of his way to make the event special.
Honestly, for what you pay it was a huge disappointment. This place is clearly living on its reputation that was earned a long time ago and is now far outdated. The food looked cute, but the sandwiches tasted premade, slightly soggy and stale tasting. We tried every kind but left most of them on the plate. The pastries tasted mast produced and left an unpleasant aftertaste. The scones were delicious but they were small and you only got two per person. The tea itself was also good quality (we had the earl grey). As far as ambiance goes, the table was on the small side and it was LOUD. Not at all leisurely and relaxing and civilized like I had hoped. And the bathrooms are quite far away from the dining area. The palm court does not have its own restroom. You need to walk through the hotel, up a flight of stairs and then wait in line because there are only two stalls for ALL of the visitors at the plaza and those having tea etc. Which is extremely extremely inconvenient and really ruins the whole experience. Considering that we payed over $100 per person, I couldn’t be more disappointed. I have no problem paying a lot of money for quality dining. The night before we ate at one of NYCs most expensive restaurants and it was phenomenal. But the quality of the experience needs to live up to the reputation if you are going to charge that much. It seems that the plaza is living off of past fame and young families bringing their daughter there to sip tea like Eloise. If you want to pay $100 for stale egg salad sandwiches and mini artificially favored eclairs than The Palm Court is THE place for you.
