Love the brunch here!
Our waiter was so attentive and friendly. He made our experience a great one!
It was definitely a fun experience but I don't think I would pay to do that again. The food was mediocre at best but the tea tasted great. It was an something I enjoyed during my time in the city.
25 mn waiting to get a bad granola and two eggs. Outrageouly expensive for insignificant breakfast. A pure frauf even if the place l9oks quite nice.
Absolute rip off. Avoid Avoid Avoid. Love afternoon tea and have eaten it in many wonderful places. This was not one of them! Like eating in the middle of a busy transport terminal. Sandwiches poor and not replenished. Scones over baked. And cake selection very unimaginative. Expected much more for the cost.
It was my birthday
High Tea with my sister
It was the best breakfasts my girlfriend and I have ever had. We were very excited before we went and it didn't disappoint at all. Of course it is on the pricey side, but you get great quality of food and great service for the price you are paying and the ambience is amazing.
Amazing service love the little touch for birthdays couldn’t have asked for any more
An elegant way to spend an afternoon. Not for every day, but a real treat when you want to celebrate a special occasion.
The place is very beautiful. But the lady at the front desk was very cold, almost rude, so we felt unwelcome at this place. They seated us at the very end of the room (we made reservation at least a month ago and during all the time we were there the room was half empty). The food was average.
Lovely afternoon and experience. You are paying for the location thou
I live In the city and had my mom and her friend visiting. I had a reservation for three at noon. We sat down, we’re admiring the amazing decor, ceiling, art, etc. 10 minutes later, with 90% of the restaurant empty, they sat 6 children under 6 years old at the table directly next to us. While the kids were cute, it was not the experience we were hoping for and when we asked if we could move they said no and the server literally backed away from the table and never brought it up again. It was a fun 1 time thing, but I won’t be bringing anyone back.
There used to be a charm about the Plaza Hotel, especially the palm court high tea. I sensed that the charm is no longer there. It all looks and feels quite similar on the surface, but something has unfortunately changed, or missing rather. I still had a good experience with my dear friend, but I won't necessarily go out of my way to recommend the palm court.
We had a wonderful day celebrating our moms birthday. Service and food was great. Cant wait to go back again!
Go because it's a classic. Go because it's The Plaza. Don't go for just the food. Not much value in the afternoon tea and way too much sugary desserts vs food.
My husband and I went for afternoon tea at The Palm Court at The Plaza for a date, thinking it would be a pleasant and relaxing experience. He later compared it to lining up to go to the top of the Empire State; an iconic part of the NYC experience but over-hyped and too crowded.
We had a 3:15 reservation but didn't get seated till 3:45. There were about 20 other people waiting with us, so clearly they had overbooked. It was very loud the entire time we were there, and very cramped. I witnessed waiters with champagne nearly spilling their trays about 5 times.
We both ordered the $83 New Yorker Tea. The scones were great, and I enjoyed the Darjeeling tea as well as the cucumber sandwiches. Everything else was mediocre. In addition, we paid $8 for a sencha that I did not realize was not part of the package, and that left me rather disgruntled.
For an experience of a high afternoon tea, I will recommend it. But the service is disappointing. We waited for 30 minutes past our scheduled reservation. Guests crowded in front of the dining entrance waiting to be seated. There should be a better way to treat guests specially for a venue like this. The servers should be more accommodating and cordial to guests as well.
What a special experience. The food, the champagne, the service was impeccable. Only complaint is that we arrived early and were told we would be seated on time but it was over 20 minutes after our reservation by the time we were seated. When you have a late lunch planned, to go that late after a reservation without appropriate expectation setting was disappointing. Particularly for a little girl excited to have her Eloise tea.
We had a reservation for afternoon tea and still had to wait 30 minutes standing to be seated. Overcrowded and little attention from the server. Our food ( scones, sandwiches and sweets) came out way before the tea. We had to wait another 10 minutes for the tea. We were 4 people and only got 3 pots of tea. One of them was a tea we didn’t order but the waiter thought we should try. We didn’t like it and did not understand why the waiter didn’t bring us what we ordered. We had little sugar, and one small tiny cup of milk. We kept trying to get our waiters attention to ask for more milk and sugar, but it was near impossible. Next the restroom. The line is unbelievable. There are only 2 stalls. We waited forever in the line to use the restroom, about 15 minutes, and the restroom smelt bad. For the amount you are paying, it is ridiculous that the bathroom line is so long. Food was average. Overall the place is overcrowded and not worth the money for the poor service.
Arrive on time but still have to wait for another 30 mins to be seated. Won’t come again
The service was absolutely awful. We sat there for 20 minutes without being greeted by our server. The bus boy had to ask him twice before he came over. We did not receive our tea for over 45 minutes and had to ask the manager to check on it. Our waiter did not check in once to see how we were doing. I will not be going back as the service was awful and not worth the money. Disappointing experience to take my family to who was visiting.
It was a lovely brunch with great service as they didn’t hover or interrupt conversation but were attentive and accommodating. It was my moms birthday, they surprised her with macaroons & a nice message !
Very overpriced breakfast. My $26 pancakes were not as good as homemade. You’re paying for the name of the hotel.
Buen ambiente y servicio
Having had afternoon tea at the Dorchester in London this doesn’t compare. Pen on the menu - not good enough. Fake flowers as opposed to decadent fresh flowers replaced every fortnight at the Dorchester, not good enough! Food was lovely but I would have preferred ‘proper’ sandwiches as opposed to delicate finger sandwiches. The bread was also slightly stale.
I was disappointed in the Afternoon Tea service compared to my first visit. The seating was fine but service only mediocre. The server did not explain what was on either platter until I called her over & asked & then she only explained the savory plate not each dessert. The tea was so weak (we chose King’s Breakfast tea i think was the name) that my British guest had to ask for another teabag or 2-3 to be added to it. The savory food was tasty and most of the desserts were good but I was there for 2 birthdays & confirmed it both by phone & when we arrived but still the waiter seemed to forget & then brought out a plate that appeared hastily put together with only 1 kind of dessert on it & unfortunately the least tasty of the desserts (the dessert looks like a tiny hamburger in different colors with cream inside). Very disappointed & really wanted to treat the birthday ladies to a great experience.
Staff was rude. We sat for atleast 10 minutes with zero service besides water. You would think that the plaza had better service but I guess not! Definitely will not be back!
Excellent for a treat. The place is amazing. As a Brit abroad, to have an afternoon tea that is gluten free is a rarity. This was out of this world for flavours. The teas were all described to us and we had a massive choice. The only downside is the Americans can't make scones like the Brits.
I would definitely recommend.
New Yorker afternoon tea, a good experience and New York treat, but would not repeat. Very expensive and not a patch on a London tea. Jam and cream arrived before we had ordered, first cup of tea was poured but then no more and no offer to top up or try a different tea, savoury items were very good and plentiful but the scones were dry and needed clotted cream (and small spoons to serve) not what we were given. Pastries were small and sweet and they looked beautiful. We were checked on once or twice during our trip but no more. Toilets were quite far away and through an entirely different area and then up two flights of stairs. Ended up paying over $100 per person which is more than many finer London establishments.
It's a quintessential NYC experience, but... it's expensive, for the price and history you expect to be flawless, but in reality is a sloppy service, where waiters don't leave you alone and spill drinks in your table. I had the afternoon tea, and the selection is a bit disappointing. St Regis is better.
The service was impeccable and the food and tea was delicious.
Rain was falling heavily and other patrons caused our table to be behind, however the host sit us by the bar and offered complimentary champagne and seated us at the next available table!
Service was not up to par with the price. They jammed two trays into one for their convenience and the server got annoyed when I was confused and asked for clarification on what was what. We also were left to fix our own wobbly tray of overpacked food once we told them it may fall over. The food itself was great. The tea was amazing. Overall, not worth it because ofprice, other options available.
Very disappointing service. Lengthy wait for our table even though we booked months in advance.
The tea had no flavor, taste like water. I feel like it was really over priced for the value.
I planned a joint baby shower for two expectant mother’s, for a party total of 6 women. We had high tea at 2pm. Food was frankly mediocre. Luckily service was very good. Waiters kind and attentive. Unfortunately, bathroom experience was appalling. My party spent most of the afternoon apart. Lineup for two bathroom stall snaked around the upstairs room. Between 6 of us, and 3 pregnant ladies, half of the table was missing for almost 30 minutes due to the long line. Toilets were disgusting, smelly and had no tissue paper! My guests came back frustrated and had lost their appetites. I am embarrassed to have booked the Plaza Hotel for this special event. I will not be coming back or planning other events at the Palm Court. Incredibly disappointing experience.
Delicious tea in a great location! It’s not the most affordable option around but a fun and yummy option for a splurge. The service was also fantastic-we weren’t rushed at all and had a lovely time catching up in this beautiful room. Highly recommended.
