Over priced, poor food quality, and under service. Good ambience, however, not worth the price. Open table rating of this restaurant does not reflex the reality. 3 stars from Yelp is more accurate.
Very over priced for food quality. Tea was excellent food was terrible
What a special treat for a mother-daughter outing. We will treasure this moment always!
Great professional and friendly service Greatful and amazed by the offering of vegetarian and vegan options by the server. We are definitely coming back again for afternoon tea or dinner. We had a great experience.
Lovely staff and great service. Cocktails pricey and were pretty average. Very nice glass of red wine though
One is paying for the architecture and the elegance. The food was alright but not close to the value of the price. For a special outing it’s quite nice. For an excellent eating experience for the price well, the atmosphere is the best part.
The afternoon tea is now a lovely mother/daughter memory.
Although it’s an expensive tea service, it was great! Food was more than enough, plenty of tea, great staff, and they even brought my mother a little happy birthday plate of macaroons since I put it was her birthday in my reservation. Overall, great experience!
Stunning venue with delicious food. Pricey but perfect for a special occasion
Amazing experience. Exceptional service! Will go again.
Manager seating people was a major jerk. Food was very overpriced and service at the table was ok when they were around. Just sort of treated like a number. Tea for 4 was over $400 and we were treated like we were at Wendy’s. Very disappointed.
Everything was perfect. We went for high tea and the food was amazing, our server was absolutely lovely and the location is perfect. If it’s not June at the Plaza it’s not New York!
It was an day to remember
I had breakfast with my father before we went shopping and touring NYC. Fabulous way to start the day. The service was friendly and professional. The food was good. The ambiance was beautiful. Best daddy/daughter date. Highly recommend it.
Server not friendly, which is disappointing for an expensive afternoon tea experience.
What a delightful experience! First class dining with superb service. The patisseries were incredible! Highly recommend!
It is a must if you are in NYC for a visit. They really know how to make it special for little girls. Read her Eloise first and it will have even more meaning. It's not cheap but Tea at the Plaza Palm Court is a once in a lifetime experience you'll never forget.
Food during afternoon tea was mediocre at best. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for what we had. I know the “Plaza” is all about being expensive, but the quality of the food is NOT worth the price! I wish I could go back in time and not have had tea there.
We had made a reservation over a month in advance for afternoon tea. Arrived on time and had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. While waiting, we ordered a bottle of wine at the bar, which we then had brought to our table. Once seated, the server was not welcoming and did not offer to go over the menu with us, go over the tea selection, and rushed us to order. That was the last time we saw him. No one checked to see if everything was ok, if we needed water, or poured the wine in the ice bucket at our table. It might as well have been a buffet since we had to serve ourselves. I’ve been to high tea at the ST. Regis and Four Seasons where they dote in you hand and foot and they make sure your tea cup is never empty and will pour it for you. For the price at the Plaza, the service was not at all what I expected for such a prestigious place. When someone finally checked on us, it was a different server who then later informed us that our waiter had left and gone home, and sometimes people did that. Maybe we should have left and gone home too. However, the food was delicious.
Written review cannot do justice to the Palm Court it must be experienced. My wife is a native New Yorker and had been dropping Subtle hints about having afternoon tea there on our Upcoming trip. We set a Sunday afternoon aside so we wouldn’t feel rushed while we were there.
The food was exquisite and the presentation spot on. The wait staff was attentive with out being overbearing . I highly recommend that you give the Plam Court a chance, you will not be disappointed.
There is still something magical about tea at The Plaza in the Palm Court. Took my two daughters for afternoon tea for a birhday celebration. The service was extremely attentive from start to finish and they even surprised the birthday girl with special macaroons. Not an inexpensive experience, but worth it for a special occassion splurge.
We took our daughter to celebrate earning her MPH. We had the vegan tea menu, which was just the right amount of food. I didn’t feel the uncomfortable fullness on leaving. I didn’t feel deprived by the vegan selections, but was impressed by how well they did vegan. It didn’t feel like an afterthought.
My three tween daughters and I had tea. It was lovely. Nice server. Food was delicious and beautiful.
So-so but very expensive
It was everything I would imagine! The service, food, location, room, everything was outstanding! I felt like I was treated as a princess. Yes it was expensive, but the whole package makes it worth it. And it doesn't makes it any less chic if you take a 'doggy bag'. They actually suggest it, because they give you a lot of food.
I went for the afternoon tea and I was alone. But I saw dates and friends and even families together. It is proper to dress chic and nice, but not a total must. I think they appreciate it more. You can take your time and enjoy the moment. I would recommend it to everyone who thinking about doing it.
Highlight of our NY family trip. We where treated with special attention. Everything was perfect.
It's nice that the Palm Court still does a traditional high tea for locals and visitors alike. And such a pretty setting!
The place is beautiful and ambiance is so catching. The food is not that fantastic for the price they are asking for it. It is set menu that you have no control over it. I was expecting more finger sandwiches than pastries that I could buy in any pastries shop. After all it is an experience that you would probably have once and will just talk about. It is not that cheap and expect to stop by at first available pizza place if you have your kids with you. By the way pizza from Angelo’s was out of this world.
Amazing experience present to my 2 daughters for graduation, we live in Scotland this was their idea
Been there before and will be there again and again!
We were very excited to go to the Plaza for high tea. We were disappointed with the service, which was unfriendly and rushed. The food was good but not spectacular. I appreciated the gluten-free option and the desserts and scones were great. The gluten-free bread used on the sandwiches was very poor.
Our waiter was probably one of the most dreary people we’ve ever had as a server. He slapped the water glasses down on the table and asked if we were ready to order, despite the fact we had just been seated. He sighed heavily when we asked for a couple of minutes to decide which afternoon tea we were going to have. We then observed him ask the four ladies at the table beside us if he could clear their table. They politely told him “no” as they still had food on their plates and also on the serving platters. He went away but was back in less than five minutes asking to clear the table again although they were still eating. He kept hovering over us waiting for our order. We asked to have a different server and that gentleman was very pleasant but overall our experience at The Plaza Felt rushed and not at all special which was very disappointing as we had travelled from overseas and this was to be one of the highlights of our birthday trip.
Beautiful setting for afternoon tea. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
first visit to the plaza and it was amazing. would recommend to everyone.
Me and my wife went there for breakfast. The place is very beautiful, it was really special experience. The tea selection was amazing, the food, however, wasn't as great (6/10), perhaps I expected more from a place like this. Had some business people next to us talking very loud and it affected our overall impression of the place. Would recommend to go once just for the ambiance, but as far as food, there are many places that are way better and cheaper that the Plaza.
Lovely Afternoon Tea at the Plaza! The Royal Tea was different & delicious!
I think that there may be better places for afternoon tea in New York.
Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The food and pastries are always wonderful @ the Plaza.
It’s always a treat to take tea at The Plaza! The scones were good and the sandwiches were good but the quiche and desserts looked and tasted like they were frozen from Costco. The biggest problem was I did not get my receipt or credit card back. Our server was very nice but I think they were short staffed.
The service was beyond terrible. At the Plaza, it should always be perfection.
