The Oven - East
Dinner: Sunday - Thursday: 5:30pm - 9:30pm, Friday & Saturday: 5:30pm - 10:30pm
Our waitress was a gem, very attentive, had a great attitude, and answered all of our questions on gluten free food.
I've eaten there dozens (many dozens) of times and and only had a few disappointing meals. A few times my food has been too salty. Once, our take out meal was extremely spicy. Our most recent meal there was wonderful. The food was perfect. We ate outside, which I prefer because it is quieter. When a sudden rainstorm kicked up our waiter and another waitress moved us inside with amazing speed and efficiency. The Oven is one of my favorite restaurants in Lincoln.
The food was tasty, but dry. The server was attentive.
Everything was fine except for the timely service. Not the servers fault, she was excellent and always friendly. However, restaurant seemed to be way under staffed that evening. There were 4 of us for dinner- took full two hours with most of it on second hour waiting to get check, paying and leaving. The restaurant was fairly full, and most of time didn’t see wait staff on the floor serving. We loved the food. We would recommend the restaurant for food and atmosphere.
Always delicious and particularly good tonight!
Great food and service from the staff! Also, a great atmosphere that can accommodate small or large groups.
Great Waitress Server, Very professional.
Reservations got me right to the table, upon entering.
I booked this restaurant because my date had heard good things about it.
The good: The location is very nice and modern in feel. The lighting and decor was very pleasing to the eye. The staff was very friendly and provided good service.
The bad: We both ordered a chicken dish but two different kinds. Both of us thought the chicken was dry and seemed a bit overcooked. The redeeming quality for my dish was the sauce but it only covered a bland chicken that was dry. Both of us did not finish the meal and actually went to Buffalo Wild Wings after the meal, we had better chicken there. Another thing that was a problem was the noise level. It was very difficult to talk due to this. This was on a Tuesday night so I can only imagine how loud it would be on a weekend.
We live 100 miles away and always look forward to the oven. They never disappoint!
I have always been a huge fan of The Oven, as is my young goddaughter, so I took her there to celebrate her birthday. I had made reservations for 5:30 and we got in promptly and were initially served promptly. However there were a series of long delays in getting our food out, our waiter appeared to also be acting as bartender, awhen I received the wrong order it seem to take them a while to find him before they could begin to make it right. When our server did show up, he agreed to put the order in for my original request, which was vegetable curry, but suggested that I busy myself eating the entrée that he brought by mistake and that I could have it and wouldn’t have to pay for it ( I should hope not! ).
The restaurant, meanwhile had become incredibly busy, and loud, we seem to have been overlooked all together. Once the correct entrée arrived, they again forgot about us. The meal, which was usually to die for, was mediocre at best. And the service was nonexistent. I had to get up and go get someone to get the check so with that we could make our performance. My entree was not comped, in fact, an apology was barely made. So disappointed in The Oven, I’m afraid we won’t be back.
Everything was great.
Maybe a bit less speed on the food - we had appetizers, soup/salad, entrees.
Just needed a bit more breathing room between each.
The homemade Indian breads are amazing! My wife had Shrimp Madras and I had Chicken Tikka. She had wine, she choosed from a large selection and I had the real Chia Tea! The service was fast. It was New Years Eve and they were packed! With that said we’re were in and out in less than an hour. Greets food, enjoy!
Always a top notch meal, a person cant go wrong!
Almost everything was as excellent as past experiences. The only shortfall was the full Tandori chicken order. The chicken was overdone and very dry. Because it was very busy we did not send it back although we had reason to do so. It will not affect return trips but just want to make note.
When our adult children come home for visits we always have to go to The Oven. Staff is friendly and professional and the food is always excellent. The mulligatawny soup is the best!
Super food and ambiance. Service was a real disappointment: slow and unfriendly. This hurts my chances of returning.
Thanks for making our first time a great time!! Food was good, great atmosphere and staff!
Always love the Oven. Tonight we sat 90 minutes to eat. Our toddler did extremely well considering our wait. Just couldn't get waited on in a timely fashion.
The oven as very good! Perfect for a date night! I would go back for sure!
Food, service and atmosphere was great as always! I had the salmon madras and my husband had chicken tikka masala. It was delicious.
The Oven - both East and West - are usually top quality restaurants. My experience this time was a little less so. We made a reservation for 7:30 but did not get seated until 7:50, 20 minutes late. Table service was slow, apparently due to an unexpected rush of diners. As for the food, the mixed appetizers were quite good as was the naan, but the papdum were oily and limp. The entrees were pretty good, although my companion found that the rogan josh was not to her liking. The staff prepared her a second entree, the lamb korma which she found quite tasty, and did not charge us for the rogan josh. Finally, the design of the restaurant seems to amplify sound so that it was difficult to carry on a quiet conversation. (This is not the case at The Oven West in Lincoln's Haymarket.)
Overall, despite a disappointing experience on this occasion, I will happily return to The Oven West as my dinners there have always been excellent.
Food is always good. You don't feel overly welcome by the guy at the entry area who seats you, however the service by the other servers is good but sometimes a bit rushed.
I just go here for the food. Otherwise I'd go elsewhere where I feel more appreciated.
It took us a little while to get seated even though we had a reservation, then it took a long time for our table to get waited on.
Food was EXCELLENT! We ordered so much for variety and were very pleased with all of it, as well as happy to have leftovers 😁
We brought 2 Indian natives to eat for lunch, and they thought the food was very well prepared. I enjoyed how flavorful every dish was!
I have not visited this location of The Oven but I have to say we all really enjoyed it! It was a party of 12 people and the service was great! Everyone had a great time and the food was on point! Francisco was a wonderful waiter! Could not have been happier! Thanks!!
The thing I love about the Oven is that they consistently serve the same great food visit after visit. One of my favorites!
This was our first visit to The Oven. The food was delicious and the service was good. The only negative is the phone was ringing off the wall (extremely loudly). throughout our entire dinner! It drive us crazy!
I've never been to an Indian restaurant before- and I'm not big on "new things". But the wife likes Eastern food, so we went. It was great! The food was delicious; and the server was very helpful!
Wonderful food and service. We have enjoyed meals here several times before. We are never disappointed.
Food was expertly prepared and delicious. Our waitress was phenomenal but over worked. She worked very hard! If they added some additional staff it would help the flow and reduce the wait time for service.
It's one of my favorite places and I drive from Omaha just to enjoy the delicious Indian food.
We had a nice table for two. The food was fantastic and the portions were large. We enjoyed a nice, kid-free evening.
Both Oven restaurants receive consistently great reviews. We did not like the food the first time we ate here; however, we loved it this time. Before, we did not really know what to order, but this time, the waitress (who knew the menu thoroughly) gave us really good advice. I had lamb, very spicy (but not too much for me). It had apricots which were great and a great sauce. Hubby had chicken: spicy but good. We both enjoyed it. I did not like the house soup. I had some type of martini, it was fine but nothing special. Have had better martinis.
We did not order dessert. Naan was good as well.
Food was excellent. Service slower than normal and unattentive at times.
We Love the Oven! We love that it is local and that it is outstanding.
One of our favorites but did not recognize Open Table reservation.
Both Oven locations always have great food. Unfortunately, we had to wait more than 10 minutes after being seated before we were able to order drinks. After our server knew we existed, the service was on par with my normal Oven experience.
Very good service. Nice atmosphere.
The chicken was extremely dry. I don't know if it was overcooked or warmed over from the previous day, but it was terrible, it tasted like it had been reheated in an oven, too many times, and for too long. For that reason I gave it two stars. I would have given it 3 stars if the chicken wouldn't have been so bad. Otherwise the food was good.
Too many restaurants in Lincoln to settle for mediocre. I probably won't come back.
Out favorite restaurant-always great service.
