The Oven - East
Great food and very accommodating when our meeting went well past the reservation time.
Requested a table in shade. Seated in the sum. We were the only ones there as they just opened. I even called prior to request this. When I questioned it she commented eventually all if the patio will be in the sun.
Because I enjoy sitting outside I knew at 530 the back side was shaded for hours. She only offered to move indoors.
Nearly 2 hours later my colleagues in work attire were sweating in the sun, nack tables shaded.
Service was slow. The table that arrived after us, also shaded the entire time, had apps, drinks, dinner and left before we even finished our meal. They had equal amount of people with a different server.
Also added gratuity for 5 of us eating.
Is this norm for 5? Not 8 or more? 6 or more?
Food was good.
Great food and great service. My friend even ordered a dish for lunch that is normally only on the dinner menu. No problem!
I tried a new dish which was much too dry for my taste. Maybe chicken tikka is supposed to be like this? 2 of us had this meal & both thought it was too dry. The other 4 diners loved their meals & gave the food 5 stars.
The service was excellent. We appreciate the pleasant atmosphere at The Oven (East location) & go there because parking is easier than downtown location.
Food was great, as usual. However, they were obviously understaffed for a Friday evening. It took a LONG time for our server to respond to our table throughout our visit.
It took about 90 minutes for our order to arrive. Loud, unpleasant place.
The service was really quite good-our waitress was "top flight."
Nice evening out.
It was our first time eating at The Oven, great food and a helpful suggestion from the waitress with picking out my meal. My wife and I ate our leftovers the next night and wanted the whole meal all over again!
We moved back to Lincoln this past June. This was the first time we had been to the Oven in 7 years. Our return was a very happy experience. Our meals were excellent and plentiful and delicious. The spices were delicious and the spinach bread was very good. The service was excellent and not overwhelming. We will definitely return and the Oven is in our top 5!!
Made a reservation for 7:30, and wasn’t seated until 8:15. Brought my entree out with the appetizers and acted like that’s the way it was supposed to be. My dinner sat in front of me for 15-20 minutes until everyone else’s came out. Worst experience I’ve ever had there. Embarrassing because we had people here from Ohio and told them how great it was. No comps, no apologies.
All of the food was well prepared. My dates meal was said to be delicious. I got the chicken tikka Marsala and was disappointed in the sauce. It tasted bland and like tomato sauce. I would have appreciated a creamier sauce with more flavor. The naan was delicious. The rice was great. The chicken was cooked well.
The staff was very accommodating and friendly !! The food was excellent!
Great food!! We decided to go to this location due to the concert in the Haymarket. We've been to The Oven in the Haymarket many times before and it is nice to know that if you are in a time crunch there is another option.
Great food. We really enjoy the atmosphere. Have been there many times and plan to be back again soon
I was certainly skeptical because I had never had this type of food before. My girlfriend persisted and we went. I can safely say I will be returning, great food and service, and the ambiance was a great touch.
We ended up not eating at the oven that night so my rating is based on previous visits. We left before our table was ready because The greeter gave our table to a group that arrived after us. I know they did not have a reservation because I talked to them while we were waiting for a table. Long wait for a table on a busy Friday night I can understand. Getting the seating order messed up is inexcusable.
Our waitress was great and the food delicious! We like to go there each year for our anniversary ❤️
Always a great experience! I cannot pass up the spinach naan as an appetizer.
We had reservations for Valentines Day. Even with a busy night the service was excellent and the food was delicious as always. They had a lot of carry out business so I know the kitchen was extremely busy which made our visit even more impressive because we didn’t feel slighted in the least.
One of our all time favorite places!
As always, our meals were excellent. Everything came out in a timely manner and was fresh and flavorful. The Vegetable Madras is wonderful! The breads are always good and it’s hard to choose one from the great selection. The entrees are varied and the menu describes each dish to help you make your selection. One minor negative was a less than engaged server.
The food was OK. We were disappointed in the slow service throughout the evening.
Server was stretched thin it seems, slow service as a result. Food was delicious!
Extremely poor service and food was mediocre at best. Would not recommend this location (east) and more than likely not return to the business. If I was a food critic I would have walked out!
Shared a sampler meal. All meat selections were too dry. Drinks tiny for the price. All else was great. Will give it another try.
The noise level is s bit loud but I realize it was a busy Saturday night. The food and service were excellent!!
We always have great service & the food is consistently amazing! Favorite restaurant in Lincoln!
Waiter was very nice. Was patient with our ordering as the other couple had never been to The Oven.
Super place to celebrate special occasions. Service was excellent and food is always amazing!
Service was slow but the place was pretty busy.
The Oven is one of my favorite restaurants, esp during the colder months because of it’s warm atmosphere and mulligatawny soup. Tonight the soup was not as hot as usual but still yummy. We love mixed tandoori grill but tonight the shrimp were chewy, way over cooked, but the meat log and chicken were exceptional! Love to add korma sauce! Also ordered the spinach naan, another favorite, but it was greasy and burned. It was a busy Saturday night and we usually go Friday night, also busy, so perhaps there was a change in chef that night. Will go back and hope for their usual perfection. Perhaps an off night. Service excellent!
Seemed like quality ingredients but no real wow factor.
The Oven never disappoints!
Love The Oven-East! Always great food and perfect ambience! Perfect for cool evenings with wonderful soup and mildly spicy food and great wine selections!
I have friends who travel the world and for whom The Oven represents “home town food.” They tell me the food here is some of the best ANYWHERE. I was already confident that it’s the best from my own experiences here. The menu has great variety, Chad at the bar knows his wines and all of the wait staff are clearly engaged and determined to ensure you have a great dinner.
Great meal. Spice was just right. Highly recommend.
