The Oven Restaurants specialize in Northern Indian Cuisine which is known for its rich colors, flavor profiles and a unique style of cooking in a clay oven, called the Tandoor. Chicken, shrimp and lamb marinate for several hours in a yogurt and spice mixture and placed on skewers while various breads are being hand made by our chefs fresh each day. The skewers and breads are then placed in the tandoor over an open flame where breads are cooked to perfection and the rich flavors are sealed in to ensure tenderness and quality of the meat. Over the last several years, the Oven Restaurants has expanded to two other locations and added space to the lower level of the Haymarket location. Whether you enjoy the historic Haymarket atmosphere and relaxed vibe of the Cellar, the beautiful sunsets and outdoor patio of the Oven East, or you’re in Omaha for the night to try Himalayas, there are many ways to sample the cuisine of India!

I have always been a huge fan of The Oven, as is my young goddaughter, so I took her there to celebrate her birthday. I had made reservations for 5:30 and we got in promptly and were initially served promptly. However there were a series of long delays in getting our food out, our waiter appeared to also be acting as bartender, awhen I received the wrong order it seem to take them a while to find him before they could begin to make it right. When our server did show up, he agreed to put the order in for my original request, which was vegetable curry, but suggested that I busy myself eating the entrée that he brought by mistake and that I could have it and wouldn’t have to pay for it ( I should hope not! ).
The restaurant, meanwhile had become incredibly busy, and loud, we seem to have been overlooked all together. Once the correct entrée arrived, they again forgot about us. The meal, which was usually to die for, was mediocre at best. And the service was nonexistent. I had to get up and go get someone to get the check so with that we could make our performance. My entree was not comped, in fact, an apology was barely made. So disappointed in The Oven, I’m afraid we won’t be back.

Everything was great.
Maybe a bit less speed on the food - we had appetizers, soup/salad, entrees.
Just needed a bit more breathing room between each.

The homemade Indian breads are amazing! My wife had Shrimp Madras and I had Chicken Tikka. She had wine, she choosed from a large selection and I had the real Chia Tea! The service was fast. It was New Years Eve and they were packed! With that said we’re were in and out in less than an hour. Greets food, enjoy!

Almost everything was as excellent as past experiences. The only shortfall was the full Tandori chicken order. The chicken was overdone and very dry. Because it was very busy we did not send it back although we had reason to do so. It will not affect return trips but just want to make note.

When our adult children come home for visits we always have to go to The Oven. Staff is friendly and professional and the food is always excellent. The mulligatawny soup is the best!

Always love the Oven. Tonight we sat 90 minutes to eat. Our toddler did extremely well considering our wait. Just couldn't get waited on in a timely fashion.
