The Oven - Downtown
A traditional Indian soup of pureed lentils, flavored with spices and garnished with rice and fresh cilantro.
Fresh spinach baked with paneer, cream cheese, and Indian seasonings, served with naan crisps.
Tender chunks of lamb simmered in a spicy coconut milk based sauce.
It was nice to have good service. So many restaurants are short staff and not able to provide good customer service.
Great food, even better location, so happy we found this!!
The Oven never disappoints, the service was great, the food was delicious, as always! And we have leftovers for dinner tonight.
The wait staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The food is amazing in some of the best Indian I’ve had in the United States. Our bill for two people and a bottle of wine was only $85. We go often and I highly recommend this restaurant.
In addition they have a full wine bar in the basement where you can also order the same food for dinner. The wine bar is amazing and they have selections from around the world.
We always enjoy The Oven. The outdoor dining was awesome on such a gorgeous night.
We had an amazing night at the Oven. Our waitress was super sweet, the food was great, and it was super affordable for the quality. Would definitely recommend!
A really lovely celebration at the Oven last night. All the servers were masked and the tables far enough from each other that we felt safe. The food was exceptionable and service very good.
Indian food always has a great taste.
Prices could be much better.
Need more authentic ambiance music decorations and such.
But overall satisfied.
Perfect evening with family. We sat outside … and the street noise is LOUD. However, the food and service were outstanding! The Indian Oven has been consistently perfect for over 25 years!
Waitress was slow
Wine was good for the price
Humus appetizers great
Food was priced reasonable
Food was just ok
Lamb Rogan Josh had beef in it. It also bore very little resemblance to a Rogan Josh. British Bisto gravy with something in it as a sauce. Did they forget the onions? Chicken Tikka Masala would be best described as Chicken Tikka Salsa. Warmed up a jar of Mexican tomato salsa poured over the Tikka. Tasted like no other Tikka Masala I have had in 40 years of the same dish across the globe including the tourist version in India. Terrible terrible service. The waiter took forever to come. When he did he went straight to asking us what we wanted. No menus, no hellos, no discussion. We asked him to go get menus. We also had to ask him to come back to take a drink order. When he returned, he didn't want to take an Iced Chai as a drink choice and went on to explain why it was so hard for him to make. We asked for some chutney for the poppadoms and it came about 10 minutes after we finished the appetizer. Food from the previous party was on the floor (shrimp shells). When we asked the waiter to take the chutney back (as not required now) and also to remove the old shrimp lying on the floor, he entered the kitchen, and in full view of our party swore about us to his kitchen buddy. No attempt to even be out of view. The manager was polite in discussing this issue with us. The owner came out also however gave the impression he was believing his waiter who denied all charges. Food was comped and we left with an uneaten package of Chicken Tikka Masala which we decided to dispose of later as it tasted even worse the second time around. With no hint of a lie, this is possibly one of the worst meals I have ever eaten in my life. Supreme disappointment as I was so looking forward to some decent Indian food. The ONLY thing that tasted remotely like Indian food was the naan bread, unfortunately. Even the rice and the poppadom sauce were unrelated to the authentic article. Absolutely awful.
Delicious dishes, great choices
Food was amazing as always! We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful evening.
We've been to the Oven dozens of times over the years, and normally it's very good, but last evening it didn't measure up to the standard. The masala sauce was runny and not as flavorful, the chicken was dry, and the aloo gobi was thin on potatoes and cauliflower, and the cauliflower was a little underdone. The paratha, however, was better than usual. In spite of all that, this is generally one of the most reliably good Indian restaurants I've been to (and I've been to a lot all over the U.S. and abroad), and I'll chalk this up to post-pandemic adjustments.
The food and drinks are always fabulous Best Old Fashion in town, and the wine is wonderful
Had a family dinner for my son’s HS graduation. They were ready for us when we got there! Our waitress was excellent. Food was delicious!
Oven consistently provides excellent food and service
Food is always delicious and the wait staff works hard to please. They might still be struggling to find enough staff; it was 90 minutes after we sat down that we got our food! We're used to the wait, though, but it might be too much for others.
We have been several times. The last we took some friends who have never tasted the cuisine. Everyone had a good experience. I would recommend to another person.
Went here on the night of my bachelorette party. Gave us a great, quiet corner in the wine cellar area. Impressed my out of town guests!
Wonderful experience the servers were so amazing, food was excellent! Will go again!
Waiter forgot veggie substitute for rice.
Service was slow but I think that is due to post-pandemic labor shortage. Seems like they need more stafff.
Great variety. The waiter did a good job directing us to what items to choose
Best food around. Cant find it in Colorado. !!! Great service. Delicious. Can count on it each time.
The food at the Oven is incredible. It's known to be a pretty pricey restaurant, but for the food you get (quantity and quality) I don't think it is. We got two appetizers, two drinks and split an entree and our total was $40 including the 20% tip. It helped a lot that we split an entree—but still!
Only complaint is the noise level in the patio area where we sat. This is no shade on the Oven itself, but the Haymarket as a whole has been super loud lately with people revving engines and cranking their music with their windows down. We were laughing at ourselves when talking about it because we sounded we were already super old and crotchety (we're 30), but it was so freaking loud and pretty constant!
If you're going there on a weekend night, I highly recommend sitting inside, no matter how nice the weather might be, lol.
My server was awesome! I wish I remembered his name. He was very informative in helping know what to order.
Always a phenomenal meal!!! Great cocktails as well! So sad to see your old market location in Omaha close!
The food and atmosphere is beyond awesome. We had great service with Dilean! We will be back soon.
Sat for 20 minutes with no service. We ended up leaving after a friend who was also dining shared they had been there for three hours and also had slow service.
Excellent, as usual! We really enjoy the ambiance of the Cellar. The cocktail continues to grow and evolve. Many interesting and Unique drinks that you can't get anywhere else.
Great food, great wine, great service and great ambience. It really wouldn't be fair to give them less than 5/5.
Our table was too small for even two people and all our dishes but had a little candle and that was nice. Our server was friendly. The saag was not as good as other restaraunts.
The Oven is always fantastic! From the food to the service, everything was great!
A great local Indian restaurant. We celebrated my wife's birthday there - masked and carefully. We've been to the downtown and east location many times over the years and always have a wonderful meal.
Outstanding food, amazing service from one of the best restaurants currently in Lincoln, NE. The butterfly shrimp appetizer c overed in a red lentil coating and deep fried is so very very good, the shrimp goa was quite good and the Safed Mas lamb dish was exceptional.
We sat in the wine cellar for our dinner. Great atmosphere, our waiter was amazing and so friendly. Would definitely recommend eating at the Oven!
Always amazing food and good service, no one was there for an early dinner on a weekday.
