I met my 3 sisters here for one of our regular Saturday lunch get togethers. We had the Open Table offer of a 5 course tasting menu with a glass of champagne. The hotel entrance to the restaurant is not impressive but once inside there is much to admire. The restaurant itself is small, beautiful and luxurious. The food was very good and we had enough to eat, which is not always the case with special offers. This is fine dining so the portions are small but the main course and the dessert course were sufficient and the bread basket was generous. We had Dover Sole and Lamb for the main courses and both were delicious. Desserts were also delicious and a perfect end to the meal. We were the only people in the restaurant so the service could not be faulted. Our Italian waiters Matteo and Silvia were charming and helpful. I asked for help in choosing wine from the least expensive on the list and I was guided towards a white and a red that were both acceptable to our pockets and our palates. My one criticism would be that the sommelier didn't take time to understand how we wanted the wine served, the white with the starter and the two fish dishes and the red with the lamb. Two white wine glasses were taken away by her before the starter arrived and we had to ask for them to be returned. Other than that we had a lovely relaxed lunch at The Oval and would certainly return. We could only book this deal for a 12.30 lunch. No other time slots carried the offer at lunchtime. The Oval is well worth a visit on this offer.
Orchids are my favorite flowers so the beautiful floral arrangement immediately elevated my mood.
Service was friendly and professional.
The thoughtful choices on the fixed menu catered to vegetarian and non-vegetarian.
The food was elegantly plated and delicious!
I highly recommend the Oval for all occasions!
Lovely small hotel in a super location. Staff very friendly. Elegant and sophisticated. Excellent value for the quality.
First time at The Oval restaurant in The Wellesley and not disappointed. Been tempted to go before but some of the reviews have the impression that the food was fantastic but the restaurant itself lacked atmosphere mainly because it lacked customers. Not on Saturday it was full . Our sea bass was excellent and only minus was the quantity of vegetables. But otherwise all good. Puddings were delicious especially the ice cream selection with sorbets. Staff were very good and professional. Gave us lots of time and didn’t rush us at all. Will return, the Open Table deal was also excellent with 3 courses from a set menu and a glass of Veuve each for £35.
Amazing experience, lovely intimate restaurant
Great food, attentive service - altogether very nice.
The service was very bad! Glasses were always empty, had to ask for top up! Dessert was not to my taste!
Lovely, made us feel welcome, food was excellent.
First visit to the restaurant for Friday dinner. Enjoyed starter and main at the gorgeous and (surprisingly) small restaurant, then moved to the Jazz Lounge for dessert. Very attentive staff and excellent food.
Just great experience
Once again a fabulous experience. Special word of thanks to the chef who sent out some lovely 'extras'. The Oval is one of my favourite restaurants in London.
Nice service and excellent food. Recommend the beef fillet and the duck!
Great place for a data!!
Expensive for the experience. Why do hotel restaurants always have piped music? It would have been so much better without
Excellent service and yummy food. We had the tasting menu which we enjoyed everything from bread basket to chic fondue desert... however the foie was the weakest of the dishes.
We also got to adjourn to the jazz lounge to wind down with our desert.
Impeccable service and lovely atmosphere (if you're into a laid back and calming feel) ! The food was tasty (and had lovely extras) and the set menu was great value for money. Sitting in the jazz lounge afterwards was a nice way to end the evening. Only downside (if any) was the restaurant itself was smaller than I initially thought.
Went for a friends birthday , just 3 of us , had pre booked , when we got there was shown to a table set for 4 people , they proceeded to remove 1 place setting .
My 2 friend sat facing in to the restaurant I sat the other side of the table facing some darkened mirrors so for me felt claustrophobic. The restaurant only had 2 other diners in so have to say lacked atmosphere although for us it was nice to be able to chat .
We went for the £35.00 set menu which included a glass of fizz. As none of us drink they changed it for us to soft drinks which was appreciated .
The food was pleasant , tasty and nicely presented . The service was attentive and the waiter friendly . It was a leisurely meal and suited our purpose but as I said previously lacked any atmosphere .
The whole experience was amazing, the cocktails, the nibbles, every course of the lunch was amazing, the service, the champagne, the amus bouch, the petit fours and the coffee. I would recommend this unreservedly and I will be back :-)
we went to the wellesley to celebrate our wedding anniversary. we were mad to feel welcome from the momnet we entered the door.
the staff we attentive and very helpful.
we will visit the Wellesley again.
An intimate Art Deco gem with the subtle sounds from the jazz lounge complementing the divine food. The OpenTable offer was exceptional value. Check it out for yourself.
One of the best meals we have had on Open Table
Had high expectations when booking and the experience was even better expected. The atmosphere, service and food were just top notch. Being the birthday girl, I even got an extra birthday treat. Thank you to the staff there for making me feel so special.
Absolutely beautiful! From the minute we walked through the front door to the last petit fours, everything was perf ft for our special occasion. Highly recommend the set menu, great value!
Superb. We moved from the Oval to the Jazz Bar and it was AMAZING. Music perfect compliment to delicious food. Service perfectly attentive.
I booked this for my wife . The restaurant was quiet but it still took nearly 30 minutes before someone offered my wife either a menu let alone a drink ( she thinks they could have been waiting for someone else but booking was for 1 )!
My wife was not offered the set menu and when she asked about another dish she was told it was on that menu which she was not offered
Overall she liked the restaurant and food but service experience did not match the ambience
Excellent service and the food was great, enjoyed the evening with the girlfriend I will definitely be back.
Very nice atmosphere, especially when dinning with live music. Expect an expensive bill though
We took advantage of a deal : 3 courses and a glass of nv Champagne for the princely sum of £35. Four starters to choose from including a chicken dish and an unusual 'mock pasta' dish comprising mandolin slices of courgette. We both opted for bate of steak served with potato and other seasonal veg. Puddings were a tad disappointing although the brownie / cheese cake sounded good, but i reality, the cheese cake part of it was heavy, spongy and fairly tasteless. Half a bottle of Bordeaux at £30 was just affordable, but we shrank from having coffee, which was exorbitantly priced at £6 50 a cup ! This needed a rethink by the hotel since they brought us some delicious petit fours, served in a cigar box. Service was slick and attentive A good place in a stylish yet smallish dining room serving a maximum of 25 guests. Final bill, with service was a little over £100. Not bad for an evening at the right end of Park Lane.
Although we were the only table it didn't matter as the Oval room is quite small and we had a lot of catching up to do. Service was exemplary and the food extremely good
Booked for a girly birthday treat. We had the 3 course Open Table meal with champagne which was delicious. Setting in the Oval room was beautiful and intimate. Staff were very attentive and at the end of the meal, they offered us a table into the Jazz lounge for desert and music which was a wonderful treat, along with a birthday cake!
A perfect enjoyable evening! Thank you!
We booked through Open Table (£35 per head set menu) and 4 of us dined.
We were offered a glass of champagne once seated, followed by a bread basket x2 and oil for each person. The chefs complimentary dish came next, before our chosen 3 courses. The wine is available by glass, half bottle/bottle and the meal concluded with two trays of complimentary chocolates (which we took home!) The service is impeccable and the décor is stunning, perfect for a special occasion. I would definitely recommend!!
We had the lunch menu in the small but very smart Oval restaurant. Service was impeccable - friendly welcome and attentive throughout. The 3 course lunch menu at £35 was good value - with a glass of Veuve Cliquot, an amuse bouche and petit fours included. Wine by the glass was a reasonable price and good quality. Refined food - very pretty, but tasty as well. Mackerel for my partner and chicken supreme for me as starters - the latter in fact a very delicate chicken breast with truffle sauce. We both had ravioli burrata as main course, also tasty. And semifreddo and brownie with ice cream respectively to follow. The brownie was the only slight let-down - rather hard and chewy. Pleasant, not too loud music in the background. But we were all alone - I do not understand why when it is so good!
The quality of the food and the service were excellent. The place was very quiet and calm. Very good experience.
The Oval Restaurant is located in a very nice hotel with a lovely lobby and bar, but it is so empty. The dining room is indeed oval and nice but we were the only guests the whole evening. My friend and I had a great time chatting and the service was friendly but a bit rushed, even though it was so empty. The food was good but nothing extra special. I would not go back but it was OK.
The food and the servies are impeccable and we fully enjoyed lunch on Sunday.
Good menu choices for an opentable deal, came with all the extras & a nice little surprise treat as we were celebrating my friend"s birthday! We enjoyed our meal & the evening in a nice setting.
Booked their 3 course special with glass of champagne.
We arrived ahead of our 7pm booking, and were well received by the staff. The restaurant was empty - but it didn't matter that No one else was there - it seemed intimate and cosy just for us.
The champagne arrived, they do not skimp on the quantity or the quality.
Set menu was excellent value, the quality of the food was great, and the dishes were well presented.
Staff were on hand when needed, and very attentive.
Will be going back again for sure.
The restaurant was beautifully decorated in an Art Deco style, the service was outstanding and the meal was good value.
great place. modern art deco setting. very good modern Italian food. great service
amazing place to go to hear live music in a good surrounding with good company
