Fantastic service and food, will definitely come back
Perfect as always!
We were sat behind the bar. You feel isolated and not part of the scene.
We had 8 pm reservations & the restaurant was out of 2 of their main dishes.
The waiter was lovely.
Not sure I’m running back to eat there again.
Not horrible. Just not memorable.
The service was prompt and well timed. The gumbo was spicy good. Always a good choice
Great experience, server was attentive but not over bearing. She was friendly and knowledgeable. Liked the tasting notes for the wines and descriptions on the oyster menu. What impressed us most was the server stopped by to check on our entrees she immediately noticed a side dish was missing and quickly retrieved it. Interesting venue!
Great meal and service at The Optimist, as always! We really enjoyed the roasted oysters in addition to our usual favorites.
Food and cocktails were phenomenal. The service was impeccable. There’s literally nothing negative to say b/c it was a perfect night!
Everything was fantastic from the appetizers to dessert. Best seafood in Atlanta!
The food and drinks were delicious, service was impeccable.
Great food and great service. Also, the best oysters in town.
The optimist has never disappointed our guests in town!
Great birthday celebration for my niece and I. She tried oysters for the first time and loved them! Wonderful food, cocktails and dessert. Thank you for a great experience as always.
It’s a unique dining experience with well developed, if slightly diminutive dishes. The staff was very cordial and knowledgeable. It’s a special restaurant, and certainly priced accordingly.
Definitely one of the best restaurants that Atlanta has to offer if you enjoy seafood.
Most of the appetizer dishes was way too salty.
Food was just okay. Oysters and kale salad were good, but everything else was poor quality. Portions were small, and especially for the price. We have never had fish entrees this small. Wanted desert but had a basic desert menu. We left unsatisfied and wanting a good meal.
Food was very good. Had the spicy kale salad, octopus and red fish for entree. I wish I knew the servers name, but she was awesome and very patient with us. Everyone I encountered was nice.
Simply wonderful in every way
Excelente service, very good food
Delicious. Well thought out flavor combinations. Excellent cocktails and wine selection. Fresh seafood. A little loud inside, due to voices echoing around.
Great dining experience. Food was amazing and service was outstanding.
The Optimist is one of our favorite restaurants in Atlanta. The seafood is unmatched, and the drinks, ambiance, service, and overall experience, is outstanding. It does get more expensive when you order sides and appetizers, but I do recommend it for date nights and special occasions. If you’re going, make sure to get the mussels as an appetizer (and ask for some extra rolls to go with it!).
It was a wonderful experience from the food to the server. Nicest staff I’ve encountered in some time.
One of the best meals we’ve had in a while!! The halibut was incredible. I already booked our next reservation!
Everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish! Can’t wait to return.
Perfect meal, great service, fun atmosphere. If you want amazing oysters and delightful fish, this is one of the best available
Great variety of tasty oysters!
The mains; Maine Lobster, Sword fish, and Chicken were well prepared and tasty!
Service was attentive and engaged.
Only call out, streetlights were bright in the front room.
Overall, a great experience!
Great food! Can get a little noisy as there's nothing to dampen the sound bouncing around the large dining room. Portions of fish are on the small side but the flavor is wonderful!
Favorite Seafood spot in Atlanta. Great place for date night
Wonderful service. Good food.
Location not so good. Parking was atrocious but thankfully one of the attendants was a dream and helped us tremendously
The food was so good and my waitress was on point
Great service and incredibly delicious food. Worth the money for a special night out!
Shrimp was overcooked and very tough. Octopus had a pungent smell (perhaps old). Wine was 14 or more a glass. Definitely better food and drinks for the price elsewhere.
We were sorely disappointed in the Optimist. We will not come back, and we will not recommend it. The service was lacking. We waited 20 minutes to be seen by our server again after we finished eating oysters to place our order. Additionally, he did not refill wine glasses or water glasses - we had to serve ourselves our wine due to his inattentiveness. He told us he would “be right back” but did not return for 10 minutes. Also, another staff member told us she would search for a standing wine cooler, but never came back. We were seated at a small two-top and did not have enough room on our table for both wine and dishes. Moreover, the portion sizes cannot justify the high price paid for entrees that do not include sides. I am frustrated and disappointed we spent so much money on entrees that were small, and to be completely honest, nothing special. Atlanta has much better dining venues that offer better service, value, and taste. We wish we had left like other diners who left before they were even able to place an order because, like us, they had unacceptable bad service for a restaurant of this stature.
Fantastic night out at the Optimist. This place never fails to impress. Our server, Jonathan, was ridiculous awesome. When I'm in the ATL I ALWAYS make a rez here.
12/10 recommend! Top 3 best restaurants in Atlanta! Food was divine.
Our server picked the perfect bottle of wine for us!
Never disappoints. Always exceptional. Every bite and drink is pleasure packed.
Food and the waiter was fine. What was absolutely horrible was parking. The valet service lost the keys to my vehicle. I go back home without my vehicle and an hour after I left they advise that my keys were found by another customer and that they had been in a different customers’s vehicle. They offered to drive my vehicle to my house and then proceeded to call back and said they couldn’t drive my vehicle to my house. I ended up having to go back to the restaurant to get my vehicle. This was supposed to be my birthday celebration so probably one of the worst I’ve had.
All of the dishes we had were very flavorful. They always have a great selection of fresh oysters and Dona great job describing each type to help you select the ones you want to try. The braised greens side and the shishito peppers side were both outstanding.
