The Olive and Grape opened in September 2010. The owner, Paola Corsini, is third-generation Italian Levantine, born and raised in Izmir, Turkey. Paola's distinct culture is represented in the menu at The Olive and Grape. Each and every meal served is infused with the traditions of Turkish and Italian cuisine.

We went to O&G for our New Year's Dinner, and as always, they did not disappoint! The food was delicious. We both got the Greek Salad with Feta, but I thought things were just a tad over seasoned, but nothing to the point of "crazy" - just a little less would make it perfection!
Our server was great. He helped us select a bottle of wine fitting for our meals, and even suggested some things because I was on the fence about two dishes.
We closed our meal out with two glasses of grappa. Absolutely fantastic!
I ordered a Polenta sausage dish that also came in a vegetarian version. The waitress brought me the latter. She never returned to the table to inquire if the food was ok, so I did not have opportunity to inform her. I ate what I was given. Our water glasses were not tended throughout the meal. There has to be more than good food and nice ambiance to earn a return visit. I can't recommend.
Olive & Grape was phenomenally authentic Mediterranean cuisine, exceptionally executed. Perfectly tender octopus, well-seasoned calamari, brilliantly balanced and prepared risotto, tender grilled meats, and amazing baklava. I can’t stress enough that the chef can cook as well or better than the best of Seattle. However, the atmosphere is not great for a date. If the ambiance were more romantic Olive & Grape would be one of my go-to spots.
My husband and I landed here because of its proximity to Taproot Theater. We absolutely loved it - cozy, small, hand painted murals on the wall, great ambience. They have a great variety of Mediterranean dishes, not just Italian and Greek but also Turkish - which we tried and liked very much. My only disappointment was that for my vodka martini, they only serve Smirnoff's - if they are going to have just one, I wish they would go for a higher quality. Unlike many restaurants, we could actually have a good conversation and hear each other. This was a delightful finid.
The food was very good. I think the only criticism I have was the speed of service, although it did not matter. Drinks were slow to arrive (and on the small side) and the taking of our dinner order was a bit on the slower side, but all the plates arrived at the same time and all were suitably hot... so no problem at all. This was our second visit to this restaurant prior to a play at the nearby theatre. I knew the service was not the fastest, so I gave myself enough time to fully enjoy the meal. I would go here again. The staff was very, very nice and accommodating.
Paola treats all her guests as if we are family. From the warm greeting upon entering the restaurant to the special attention on the person celebrating a birthday, the atmosphere is that of an extended family gathering. The food is absolutely wonderful, unlike any other in the city. Recipes passed down generations in Turkey and Italy are shared in Greenwood WA! Vegetarian and vegan friendly, with lots of meat and seafood to choose from too.
Met for a pre-theatre dinner. Didn't expect the open-to-the-street, wish I had asked for a table a little further from the street. Food was interesting and well-prepared. I had the lamb kebab dinner and the lamb was tender and flavorful. Would go there again for a pre-theatre meal.
We picked Olive and Grape off of a list of excellent restaurants near us. We crossed our fingers that we had done a smart thing. We had! Everything the four of ate was indeed excellent. No complaints. There was parking behind the restaurant. It was wheelchair accessible. All in all a great find.
It's cozy, with the feel of a sidewalk cafe, especially the warm night I visited with the front open to the street. The menu is wonderful. The hummus and eggplant mezza was the perfect starter and the kebab duo was just what I wanted. Altogether a lovely experience and I'll definitely be back.
My wife and I periodically usher at the Taproot Theatre on 85th and, being from outside Seattle, it is more convenient to hang around the neighborhood and enjoy dinner before having to challenge the traffic to return home. We tried several of the other venues prior to discovering the Olive and Grape, but had such a delightful experience that the O&G is now our go-to Greenwood restaurant. Paola's imaginative menu of Turkish/Greek/Italian cuisine never fails to excite our palates and leave lasting memories drawing us back next time to this culinary gem.
I normally have a great meal here and could have given it an excellent review, but this time it just wasn't as good. they did not serve the risotto I enjoy (I'm not sure what the rice side dish was, but it had a red sauce and was bland). The lamb was under cooked and tough. normally it is tender and wonderful. The grilled shrimp and greek side salad were excellent and there was a young man that kept our water filled faithfully. My friend had the mushrooms and said they were wonderful.
there is a bus stop outside and with the front window door open, everytime a bus left, we would get a gush of exhaust fumes to inhale.
I think I'll wait until winter to go again and check the menu first to see if they bring back their risotto (was an excellent side dish).
