The Olde Dog Inn at Herongate Tye is a picturesque Essex weather boarded inn. Known to date from the early 16th century, the pub has been serving good beer and food for hundreds of years. A wealth of traditional features greets you upon arrival with low-beamed ceilings, exposed fireplaces and a friendly atmosphere.

Once again The Olde Dog Inn has been voted by OpenTable diners as one of the best. Thank you so much to all our customers that dined with us and left a review.

*Bookings for tables of more than 6 people require a £10pp deposit which will be deducted from your bill on the day. Please note that deposits are non-refundable. If more that 48 hours’ notice is given for cancellation, we will be happy to move your deposit to a future booking or provide a gift voucher for the amount.

This was the first time here ,,,it did not disappoint , there were 4 dinning ,, All about the pub was appealing the decor etc A real true olde English pub/restaurant The food was excellent served up by staff who really enjoyed their job , quite an extensive menu , and good selection of beer etc We were greeted with enthusiasm by the staff also a warm welcome from the locals that were there , We enjoyed a really memorable evening We will certainly be visiting here again very soon ,,,, i would certainly recommend THE OLDE DOG to all , give it a go we did and did not regret it 👍👍👍👍

Visited here many times and always enjoyed. Never had a bad meal, staff courteous, food great, lots of choice and a perfect cosy pub for an autumn day or evening

The food was fabulous. Home prepapred & home cooked. No mass produced products. Roast potatoes crispy & flavoursome. Roast beef melted in your mouth. Dessert Pecan & Toffee roulade yummy. Will definitely be taking my parents back. Nice selection of Ales Plenty of parking. And if you do have children a nice little enclosed play area.

The young man serving us was great and very helpful with advice and recommendations. The food was delicious and service brilliant, highly recommend this restaurant and will be back again for another lovely Sunday roast

Very busy, had new staff who didn’t have a clue. Tossing their long untied hair about. They took us to our seats and then left us half hour before coming back to ask if we wanted drinks. Then promptly walked away without asking if we were ready to order our food. Brought our drinks over and again whisked off without our food order. Another half hour someone came and asked if were ready to order. Food arrived twenty minutes later and was lovely, but when we asked to order more drink, were told to go to the bar. Not good, could understand if we were outside, but we wasn’t. After our main meal arrived all lovely again, we wasn’t asked if we needed and condiments etc. I also had to take a knife from another table. We also decided that we weren’t going even ask for the dessert menu this time, and we just wanted to leave and didn’t ask for the bill until we went to the bar, instead of waiting for it at the table. This has put us off coming here, but the food was lovely as usual, just the service let it down.

A good variety of food for choice and did not take too long too long to complete the order considering the amount of people at the Old Dog that evening. Had a very good evening.
