I’ve been to the Old Warsaw several times over the past several years. It has an old style traditional atmosphere and service, and has some menu items you rarely see anymore (like lobster thermidor). It has always been an enjoyable experience but this last visit, they seemed to have lost their sense of timing.
Except for the rolls, EVERY dish was brought out, well, lukewarm at best, and sometimes downright cold. As one might imagine, this really detracted from the overall experience. There were only 12 customers in the place, so it hardly could be attributed to the workload, and in a place that’s been around this long, could only be attributed to a serious lack of attention. I sincerely hope this was a singular event and is corrected immediately.
We had a great time. Their interesting preparation for Escargot with a sauce was excellent and a nice surprise. The dinner rolls were fabulous. The lobster and crab appetizer was loaded with lobster. A bargain. The asparagus was badly prepared but overall it did not detract from a fine dinner.
This was our first time visiting and it was our Anniversary and we wanted something nice, romantic and cozy. I would have enjoyed a better table away from others but it was find.
I really enjoy the gentalman that played the piano. He arrived shortly after our dinner was over, but we still got to enjoy the music. Everything was good. Next time we will make a later reservation. I think we were to early.
Lobster Bisque was watered down,no sign of cream, steak was great , lobster was tough and hard to find on our plate.

Our dinners were exquisite. The room was beautiful. Service was attentive and polite (not too familiar or chummy). We enjoyed the piano music, but unfortunately we were immediately beside the piano, which made conversation at our table a little difficult. If we had been seated a bit farther from it I would rate our dining experience five stars across the board. Very reasonable prices, too, for such a nice evening.
If you want to enjoy classic menu items that you haven't seen since the 60's, this is the place. Live piano, rich wood paneled walls, old world wait staff and service. The Old Warsaw is a gem. Give the beef Wellington a try... or the lobster thermidor. Great cocktails... excellent desserts.
I have dined here before and it was a great experience but this time it was horrible. The food was totally unacceptable and the service was just a little above that. The only thing that saved the evening was the piano player, he was great. Before this experience I would highly recommended this restaurant but after Saturday’s experience I won’t go back myself let alone recommend to someone else. I understand it could have been an off night but it was so bad I would prefer to spend my time and money at one of the many good restaurants in the Dallas area.
Overall the food was good but not for the money, the atmosphere was very nice with a gentleman playing piano. When we first arrived we waited 5 minutes for someone to even greet us at the front. When we were sat a patron at another table said out loud we have been waiting for someone to take our drink orders for 10 minutes.
Obviously having service issues. I could find better restaurants in Dallas with the same quality food and better quality service to spend my money.
After years of wanting to go to Old Warsaw, made reservations for 715p Sunday. Arrived a bit early, then with a totally empty main dining room, was seated at the corner table at the entrance to the kitchen, a terrible table with lots of waitstaff traffic every minute passing directly in front of our table. Our waitress spoke with a heavy accent, had to have her repeat nearly everything. Only other patrons in the place was a private party of 25 in the second dining room.
Ordered wine, waited ten minutes for that. Had to order appetizer, entree, and desert all up front, for some reason. Then waited 20 minutes for the appetizer to arrive. Then ANOTHER 30 minutes for the sirloin & lobster...all while we watched the staff parade back and forth in front of our table. Our waitress? No idea where she was... All this time I'm calculating a tip for a $150 meal: $30? Hell no. $25? No way. $20? Hasn't come close to earning that. $15? Begrudgingly paid...(but she earned less than half of that). I get better service at Waffle House.
Ordered our steaks medium well and medium, but came just medium and rare, cold center. Lobster tails were small and tough, and pretty much mutilated, but had a nice sauce. Busboy staff did keep water glasses full and wine poured.
My tepidly warm apple pie desert was no better than grocery store freezer, but the small scoop of ice cream was very good. After we had finished both deserts, THEN they brought out a slice of birthday cake...had to take that home, since we had already finished the other deserts. Never offered coffee.
Old Warsaw? Completely disappointing experience. Maybe worth $60 if we had a decent table and service. Go again? Nope...never. Recommend it? Not even to folks I don't like....
So easy to make dinner reservations through Open Table! Pick your restaurant choice, date, time and number of guests. They do the rest!
Food however, lacked spark. Prime rib my husband received was overcooked, but he didn't want to send it back since it took so long to come out. Advertised "lobster tail" was technically correct, but tiny. All of it would fit on one spoon.
We were the only patrons in the restaurant at the time, so we didn't understand why it took almost 20 minutes to get our appetizers! We like to dine early before the crowds come in.
We must have been there on an off night. The food was good, but not special. Bread was terrible. The chef must be a tarragon fan, because there was way too much in the escargot. Lobster thermidor was good enough, brussel sprouts were plain, and the chocolate soufflet sauce tasted like it was Hershey's syrup. The coffee was so bad, I sent it back. It was a big disappointment.
If you miss quiet restaurants where you can actually have a conversation while you enjoy great food and wine, Old Warsaw is the place to go. Yes, they encourage dressing well and it's nice to see diners who treat going to this restaurant as if it's a special occasion - even when it isn't. The seafood and steaks are top quality and the desserts, many of which are cooked table side, are delicious. All of this while enjoying live background piano.
This was NOT a good experience, especially considering that I thought this was a fine dining establishment. The food was not that good for an expensive meal and the service was attentive but not friendly, in fact almost rude. We won't be doing this again for sure. My fish was cooked perfectly, but not seasoned well; nor was the accompanying rice and spinach. My wife got the lobster thermidor which was just OK.
It was horrible. The hostess who doubles as a waitress and quite possibly a bartender, didn't acknowledge our existence for 15 minutes and then sat a party of ten ahead of us. Mind you we got there first and had a reservation.
The magic of the old Warsaw is gone. All that is left is horrendous service and an evening of abuse and a total waste of your dollars.
Heed my warning, stay away from this place. The valet opening the door for you will be the best service you get all night. It goes south as soon as you enter the door.
I will not recommend this restaurant for my worst enemy. It was an hour and a half of torture.
My wife and I went there for our 10th anniversary and it was not a letdown. We had the house specialty salad, beef wellington, and cherries jubilee. There was not a single bad bite the whole meal. The Wellington just melted in the mouth and the dessert was wonderful! From the moment we arrived with a COMPLIMENTARY valet service to the time we left, the whole staff made us feel very special. Everything was perfect! We highly recommend eating here. $$$
This was our first time. We had seen ad in Guide for Lobster Week. We learned you need to ask for "ad" menu. But we did order from it and our meals were delicious. We had the bisque-ok, the crab cake with lobster-very nice. I had lobster thermidor-very good, and he had red snapper with lobster on top. All very tasty and served hot. We were seated close to the kitchen-could hear the blender and a large group(16+) of people came as were eating. Made it a little hard to hear the piano-which was very nicely played. Think we would go again for a special occasion. The staff was very friendly and accessible.
Was an old line great spot in the past - not anymore. Don't go for a quality meal. Service was passable but the food was poor, turns out 'Lobster Week' doesn't have anything except frozen lobster 'pieces' and the staff and billing were so inaccurate (or deceitful) we had to send the bill back for correction and most items were listed as 'misc. food'. Just stay away - there are lots of better options in the area.
My wife and I celebrated my 70th birthday. The ambiance was perfect and the food marvelous. I was disappointed they did not have my favorite bread pudding as advertised due to a “supply” issue. The lobster crepe with champagne sauce was spectacular as was the wine pairing.
I cannot remember having a poorer experience at any restaurant worldwide.
We had an 8pm reservation for 4, and specifically told at least 3 employees this was a special birthday for a lady in our party. No acknowledgement of our request was ever made.
We arrived and there was no one at the hostess/maitre d' stand. We waited a couple minutes and took a seat at the empty bar (without bartender), when I believe the hostess asked if we had a reservation and when we we said yes she seated us.
The hostess also turned out to be our waitress. We ordered cocktails and the Cosmos that were delivered lacked a hint of lime.
The menu was delivered without the evening specials. When we asked, we were given two rather than 4.
When we were given the wine list, no mention was made of specials, so when we asked they brought the nightly specials menu and the wine specials were on the back.
We ordered our meal and one of the appetizers was caviar which was supposed to have a shot of Vodka with it. Had to ask for the vodka. The salad that was delivered contained lettuce that had probably sat out all day.
The main courses were average at best, but the filet that was ordered "medium" was delivered "rare". The filet had a side of lobster mac and cheese. It never showed up so we asked for it. It was the sorriest excuse for a side dish ever. It wasn't hot, and looked like they kitchen just poured some milk over it to "look creamy". There was no seasoning in this dish.
The desserts appeared to be mass produced rather than made in house, but were ok.
With all the great restaurants in Dallas, I can't imagine going here again.
Simply put, this place is very poorly run and now the subject of a joke. Service was awful and the food is average.
It was a bit surreal in that there was no host, only a couple waiters and no bartender. The waits were long, our entree was delivered before our starters, and the staff seemed like robots. There was almost no interaction outside the absolute minimum transaction.
Weird wine list and few hallmarks of a true fine dining establishment.
Upsides, the throwback room and the piano player oh, and the people watching.
Hostess was a snob, totally unfriendly,unresponsive, basically worthless. Never even acknowledged guests until they threw a fit. Waiter somewhat better, but not a lot. Bone-in prime ribeye was over cooked & likely select grade it was so gnarly. The grilled red snapper was over done & rubbery. We were then crazy enough to order cherries jubilee, were prepared 3 tables away.....but at least they were good.
We celebrated an anniversary here and the food was really good, the service impeccable. The piano playing was wonderful, taking request after request. Things to be aware of - I had the filet and it was coated in a brown sauce that I would have preferred being told about (I like my steak to deliver taste just from the steak)... My wife's jumbo scallop on top of the cooked bass really wasn't very jumbo. But overall we had a wonderful meal. The other thing (good for us!) was that the restaurant had just a few diners on a Saturday evening so I was surprised at that - it did allow for wonderful conversation and piano. Overall, we'll be going back.
The place has changed, gotten smaller and was so noisy (between the bar, the kitchen & wait staff and the too loud piano music) I was barely able to carry on a conversation with my table guests, which was one of the smaller tables too. It was the most disappointing evening I have had at, what I thought was, still a high-end restaurant. Not sure that I will ever go there again.
Excellent BD dinner here. Atmosphere is old fashioned formal dining. Expect a quiet, unhurried experience and European-style service in an ambiance of dark wood, white table cloths, and a live piano player. Nice wine list. We chose a Chateau Talbot 1999 which has held up very well. The server did a professional job with a reticent cork. My Caesar was good albeit a bit on the creamy side. Her baked goat cheese was a nice surprise. Unfortunately the kitchen was down to only one Beef Wellington which she got for her BD; I sufficed with a Petite Filet Mignon. Both cooked exactly to order. Side of au gratin potatoes was good although a bit bland. Chocolate and raspberry soufflés were very nice and fluffy. Service is European, which can confuse Americans. They do not hover and incessantly walk by your table and ask is "Everything OK?" Instead, they stand at the edges of the room attentively. If you need service, look up, catch their eye, and they will be there promptly. Neither our wine nor water glasses ever got near empty. Valet was prompt and friendly. Yes, he was in a tshirt and jeans, but with it 100F outside I don't blame him. He also got her car door and escorted us into the restaurant. Two improvements - the steak knives need to be sharp (even if the meat is tender), and the bathrooms needs some repair. Recommended for a special dinner.
the atmosphere was not quite the same as the old location. the big empty room adjacent to the main dining room was odd. the bar being in the dining room was not ideal. the service was just OK, not great for that type of fine dining. seemed to be minimally staffed. even though they were told in advance, there was no acknowledgement of it being our anniversary. the food was very good as usual.
