The Old Village Inn Ratings and Reviews
Went as a special night out as a couple. Food was very good, excellent service even though it appeared they were managing a large group. We were seated by a secondary door that unfortunately was used a few times causing a cold draft during our meal. There was also a couple seated nearby during the course of our meal that were somewhat disruptive, engaging other tables in conversation, loud conversation, etc.
Not really something that could have been expected but still diminished our overall experience.
The setting was lovely by the windows in the evening looking down a decorated main street. It will be worth another visit...
We have eaten at the OVI many times. The food is always great, the service prompt and professional and the atmosphere is comfortable.
During a recent visit, our group started with pot stickers and a salad. We then ordered the prime rib, veggie pasta, mushroom ravioli with chicken and the lobster special. Our food was delicious, well prepared and reasonably priced.
We have eaten in the OVI bar also-- different menu and environment---louder and more active-- but a great place for a simple meal.
Good food, especially the seafood soups. The poach pear salad serving size was generous and was delicious, but the dinning experience is marred by the the ambiance. Seating is spread over a few rooms, some more desirable than others. All rooms need new rugs, painting, and redecorated.
We eat here every year when we visit Ogunquit. This is my most favorite restaurant and not just in Ogunquit, but everywhere. Their menu is super, the food is always well prepared and I've never had a bad meal there, ever. I've made some bad choices but the food is always excellent. That being said, my husband ordered a dish made up of grilled romaine lettuce with sliced flat iron steak which he didn't care for, just ok. Steak was medium rather than medium rare but he didn't think it warranted returning. He could have and I know they would have made another one easily enough but he didn't want to wait to eat. Bad choice on his part but this is the most consistent restaurant to put out great food and I've eaten here every year for the last 40 yrs. Be sure to make a reservation during busy times. Great, great, great place!
This is a great place to have diner. The food is used in a pure way. I mean not spoiled with lots of cheese or presented as a car accident.
We had the boneless ribs, the salmon out of the oven and all was very tastefull. Portions are more then enough. Not to big like at other places we have been.
The waitress served us well and friendly.
The ambiance of Old Village Inn is beyond compare. Set in the perfect Maine seaside town of Ogunquit , this restaurant has been a favorite for my family for generations (literally) and has always maintained its fine reputation for excellent food and service. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgable for both the menu and the wine list , even suggesting several "don't miss" sites in the area. It is the perfect place for every occasion.
I was more than disappointed in my experience at The Old Village Inn. The night started well, with nice crab cakes as an app, however it was downhill from there. When our main entrees arrived both my stuffed haddock and my wife's stake were lukewarm at best. That most certainly put a damper on the meal. Overall the service was fine, however it could not make up for the cold food and extremely small portions. Considering the prices I expected much better.
My wife & I had a wonderful dinner here! The service was outstanding & the noise level such that we could actually carry on a conversation- even speaking very low at some points. I ordered beef torneados that were cooked exactly as I requested; they were delicious! My wife had the seafood stuffed haddock with a lobster sauce over the top. The sauce was very light & perfectly complimented the fish. Veggies were also cooked perfectly- not too hard, not too soft & the side of mixed wild grains was an unusual & very tasty accompaniment. Having started our diner with salads we had no room for dessert. We will not hesitate to return to the Old Village Inn the next time we are in Ogunquit
Very beautiful restaurant. Decor of an old village inn. Food was amazing. Great portion sizes and presented nicely. Ambiance very nice for special occasion or nice dinner for 2. My only negative feedback is some areas are a little tight quarters to get around tables.
