The Old Fourth Street Filling Station
We really enjoyed our second visit to this restaurant as a family. The food is delicious. You guys really need to serve the crab bisque everyday though!! I hate we missed it😢
The lunch was fabulous, as was the staff and overall atmosphere. We dined on the patio...the weather was perfect! Just an overall wonderful experience! I had my supervisor and one of my key clients joining me and they also commented on how wonderful the food and the overall setting was. The food was prepared perfectly, tasted delicious, our server was most friendly and accommodating. Thanks for a wonderful experience. I will most certainly return!
Took my friend there for her 21st birthday and made outside reservations. Got there and they put us inside and had to wait to be moved inside. It was inconvenient, especially for my friends first experience. Need to pay attention to online reservations. Bartender was great with mixing our drinks.
We ate outdoor. It was a Saturday evening. The hostess was able to seat us when our Open Table time arrived.
The server was great. The food was tasty and enjoyable.
We saw that a very large group of approx thirty had already been seated. We learned they ordered a large number of appetizers. Because the kitchen was back logged trying to fulfill the order of the large group, our appetizer took a long time. Our server apologized and kept us apprised of the progress of our order and let us know once the kitchen had it in the oven. The manager stopped by our table and personally apologized for the delay. She told us that we would not be charged. The restaurant was very responsive to making our experience pleasant and enjoyable. Although the delay was annoying, I was satisfied that they went above and beyond my expectation to address it.
We look forward to returning.
Was very disappointed not to have brunch options as they offer on Sundays. The wheat berry bread offered wiry the club sandwich was nothing more that wheat toast. The meats were fresh, but would have gone to a deli if I wanted only sandwiches with my friends.
Great meal and great location.
We were there for Sunday brunch and were immediately seated. Our waitress was super nice and attentive, but not hovering. We had the tomato bisque, southwestern chicken Caesar salad and the Benedict with the tenderloin and crab cakes. Everything was super delicious, huge portions--neither one of us could finish our meal. I highly recommend!
Food was excellent and the service was also excellent, can't wait to go back!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Winston Salem for lunch, dinner, brunch... always great.
We had a birthday brunch on the patio. Our server Omar was very nice!
We ordered an entire strawberry cake and although it was good, it was a little dry. Not sure if that is normal or not. Otherwise the food was wonderful and they have the best patio of any restaurant!!
Great service and food
Great place for an enjoyable meal
One of my favorite brunches (and restaurants) in all of Winston!
One of my favorite restaurants in Winston. However we expected them to be more pet-friendly, considering the very large outdoor courtyard they feature in the restaurant. Unfortunately two of our out-of-town guests could not stay for breakfast due to their limited allowance for pets, as their in-house dog was traveling with them. We were offered sidewalk seating only, but that area is difficult to accommodate a large group.
I would still recommend this restaurant because of the food but the service was incredibly slow. It took quite some time to receive our drinks and it was not that busy.
Very nice dinner with family on the patio
Couldn’t eat at the restaurant because two big dogs - a German Shepard and a Doberman - were sitting at the entrance to the restaurant. My party included people who had been attacked by dogs. I understand wanting to be dog - friendly, but you have to realize not everyone likes dogs. We won’t be back.
Just a flat out wonderful time from beginning to end. Really enjoyed every aspect of this gem of a restaurant. Come hungry as the portion sizes are plentiful. Flavors for each of the dishes were superb. Great service and ambiance that is super comfortable.
I do not recommend any business, only tell if asked.
Excellent meal in a nice restaurant!
The one restaurant in Winston-Salem where I have never had a bad meal. My favorite is the filet napoleon. Service was a little spotty and the wrong items were brought to a few of us, but the error was in our favor with a larger steak than was ordered. Everyone loved their entrees, and the brownie and ice cream was a nice touch for the birthday recipients.
Love this place! Great food and drinks! Pleasant outside seating!
Date night with my boyfriend was lovely. We were in town celebrating my birthday. We sat outside in the lovely courtyard, and our server was excellent. He was friendly and attentive. Boyfriend is a chef and big foodie, and he can be quite picky. He loved his meal though (summer pasta), and my southwestern flank steak was perfect. We had a great meal together. Highly recommend.
The food was good but Sunday after 3 and before 5 seems to be an odd time as they are in between brunch and dinner so some items were not available. When we looked online before visiting we believed the dinner menu would be available at that time so the items we were looking forward to were not ready. Maybe some more indication of menu time frames would be ideal. Overall we were very well taken care of and enjoyed what we ended up getting.
Drove up from Waynesville NC and from California that were in Raleigh. Winston Salem was a middle point for all. Place was recommended by a friend that lives there. Ambiance was great, most food ok, but Eggs Benedict were supposed to have crab cake and you ran out of crabs, you offered to do something with lobster instead an you ran out of that. We settled for a simple version, but they too cooked, more of a boiled egg than eggs Benedict.
Normally I give the Filling Station 5 Stars, but I'm not sure what was going on during Sunday brunch this time. They started by serving us poppy seed muffins that were completely burnt all the way around and tough in the middle; I would have been embarrassed to send those out of my kitchen. Then when our food came out (our regular orders of shrimp and grits, the monte cristo sandwich, however, we will definitely go back because 9 times out of 10 they are amazing! It must have just been an extremely off day.
Group of six for Sunday brunch. Service and food were very good. Love the patio dining here.
Weather was great as we sat outside for dinner. Special birthday occasion. Everything was great. Would eat there again.
It was awesome
Sunday brunch was wonderful and our waitress was very efficient and sweet. We would definately return.
Arrived about 15 minutes prior to our reservation on a busy Saturday night, but were seated right away. Great selection of wines by the glass. The shrimp and grits were delicious, although a little on the spicy side. The seafood pasta was also delicious. Unfortunately, we did not save room for dessert. Service was very good.
It was a special occasion so I made a reservation for lunch on Saturday. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived. Once we were seated, we found our table to be old and wobbly and the upholstery on the chairs was dirty. Went there for the oyster salad and they were out of oysters. Service was the only good thing about the experience.
Perhaps our late reservation contributed to the Caesar Salad being soggy. The prosciutto wasn't a great addition to the salad. The Signature Caolina Shrimp and Grits was good but the sauce was a bit too creamy for me. My son agreed the food was much better when we went a couple years prior.
My GNO group enjoys Fourth Street often, but our visit 8/22/19 was subpar. Our server was not present. No second drinks nor refilling of water. I love the Tuscan chicken, but this time is was swimming in broth - not at all like it's normal, delicious presentation.
Another small item is that our birthday girl was not offered a dessert. We do not expect this, but it has always been offered except this time...I did mention that our server was not present, right?
Will not keep us from coming back, as this was abnormal for this normally delightful little gem.
Food was good, service was very nice and prices were very reasonable.
Our server Kayla was great, very helpful and accommodating.
A wonderful evening on the patio. The weather was perfect and the food and service was excellent. We are already plannng our next evening there.
We had excellent food (two seafood and one vegetarian (eggplant Napoleon)), plus calamari appetizer. The portions were OK, the food came quicky, and the service was fine, and not obtrusive. I mostly gave it 4 stars overall because it was loud, the decor is pretty unimpressive, and there's nothing unusual about the menu.
Having been there before, I was surprised that the food was not as hot as usual...as though it had been sitting around before being brought to our table. Getting our order taken was slow.
Made reservations and when we arrived the place was padlocked shut. Had to divert last minute to another restaurant.
We had a party of 7 and enjoyed an outside dining experience. The server knew what to do to accommodate food restrictions, which is always a plus for us. Everyone’s food was delicious.
