I booked to stay at the Old Drum on my wedding night - the pub has rooms above it. Unfortunately when I arrived they were closed (despite the fact we arrived well before their closing time). We spent nearly half an hour outside in the rain trying to get in before we had to try and find somewhere else to stay - all of this happening in the rain on the night of our wedding! When we contacted the pub the next day they said we had lied (despite evidence to show we phoned them multiple times) and that they would still be charging us for them room - and that if we had a problem with this we should 'see us in court'. It later emerged that the staff closed early. Obviously awful customer service, but above all this, just really not very nice to treat people like this! I'd be very wary about booking here, and to think about whether this is the kind of person you would like to give your business to. There are lots of lovely places in Petersfield. Avoid here and try somewhere else.

We wanted somewhere that we could walk to from our home, a good atmosphere, great creative food and good service for a close group of friends who eat out a great deal, particularly in London. Wonderful - we'll call again.

Food was tasty but none of our party of four liked the limited starters. Service was very slow and manager/chief older waiter was arrogant and even argued that we had ordered the desserts five minutes after we thought we had!! We still had to wait for 35 minutes for the desserts and consequently kept our taxi waiting. Three of them were tarte tatin which he said was cooked fresh and to order. It looked more like an apple turnover when it came and it certainly was not a tarte. We left no tip and won't be dining there again. Have heard others complaining about the staff.

We had a family get together ages were 15 to 55 . The ambiance and quality of the food was great. The staff were knowledgeable and very friendly. We all enjoyed the occasion and would recommend it to friends. The service was a little slow and the food a bit pricy but that did not dampen our evening

Booked table x2 midweek on a Thurs night. Turned up and told to 'go and find table' in dining room ourselves - nice! Order taken in timely fashion, main course & 1 bottle wine, 2 coffees. There was only one other table of diners, so ambience not ideal. Anyway, my biggest bugbear was my main course and it's size - I had ordered chicken with parma ham (£17). I got the smallest piece of chicken I've ever seen that was dried to the bone and guess what it came with - 2 tablespoons of pea puree and a 'jam tart' size potato thing. How on earth was that supposed to feed an adult and how dare they charge £17 for 6 mouthfuls of food. I ordered a latte and what came was lukewarm, brown coloured water - simply not good enough. Will never eat here again and do not recommend it at all. Penny pinching of the worst kind, served by staff who couldn't give two hoots about customer service with chefs who cannot cook. Avoid.

We went for a Saturday lunch, and virtually had the dining area to ourselves. One of the two wines (by the glass) we chose was not available, but the quality of the replacement was good. A simple, fairly short menu, and despite being warned that our orders were 'prepare from scratch' so could take a while, we received our food quickly. The quality was lovely and the food tasted good, but I felt the portion sizes could have been more generous for the price. The fish & chips was a good size, however, looking at other diners' choices. We would go back.

I booked this pub for a family Sunday lunch. When we arrived, we realised their was no vegetarian option (something we couldn't find out in advance because the website was under construction) and my sister is vegetarian. We had no alternative but to leave and find an alternative restaurant to eat in. Although 3 out of the 4 of us eat meat, we were all surprised to visit a pub in 2015, that has no vegetarian option. We were really disappointed that we had to leave, as the pub is lovely inside.

The food was good but it was a very limited menu, the sea bream was off so that left a choice of burger or fish and chips, or salad. We won't go back until there is a better menu. Not as good as it should be.

The place is quite new - at least to me - as a gastropub. Petersfield is short of nice places to eat other than the chains, so it is a welcome addition. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the staff friendly. The food was very good indeed but the choice was limited as one or two of the main courses were unavailable at 7.30pm on a Wednesday evening. The food was also not very good value - for example I thought that menu price of £21 for a steak is a lot in east Hampshire. In all £30 each for a soft drink, two courses plus coffee and a glass of wine was just on the acceptable side.
