I first visited the Old Chain Pier 58 years ago ( in the hay day of Betty - the bamboo spectacled owner). Despite many changes in ownership, the pub has maintained its ambience and charm. My 20 year old granddaughter enjoyed the experience as much as I. Not for nothing is it the favourite luncheon place of my old ex rugby playing contemporaries. Top tip is the Cullen Skink, but followed closely by mussels and fish and chips.

Noisy because there was a large family group in at the same time. Server took quite a time to come and take drink and food orders, but the food when it arrived was delicious. Had to go looking for server to ask for desserts and then again for our bill.

Great food as always, especially the fish! There was confusion over the day we had booked, but they managed to seat our party of 6 at very short notice and were really accommodating. My mate had a lovely birthday dinner. Thanks!

This was a disappointment. I submitted the following to trip advisor:- Pre booked via Open table for 7.00pm. prior to restaurant opening. Arrived to find 2 tables reserved. One for 7 and the other 8 pm. People at 7.00 pm table having a drink who offered to move. Staff then hastily started to prepare another table, not reserved, in a cramped location. We were refused the, now empty, 7.00 pm table and told it was reserved for 7.30. The only alternative was in another room where a special party of 20 was being held. Isolated incident??...No. This has happened twice before. Advice..if it is a special occasion you have booked for then double-check or go somewhere more reliable

Recommended to us by our daughter and have to say it was an excellent place to eat casually on a Sunday evening with stunning views of the firth. My great-grandmother was a Newhaven fishwife and I remember visiting this area as a child. Great ambience in the restaurant.
