The Old Bavaria Haus Ratings and Reviews
Very lovely place, flowers on the tables. Great food ( choice and quality) amazing value, well trained, friendly and professional staff. We had Valentine's Day dinner- no waiting at all, our Wiener snitzels came in no time. really nice place, we will for sure come back again.
Our waiter was very over busy perhaps because he was on his own. A young chap delivered bread but offered no other help. The waiter was great but too rushed. It was Valentine’s Day though so we get it. The food was great. We will be back for regular date nights. We have to try all the schnitzels.
The food here was good as usual. The crazy lady at the front table ruined the experience for the other 4 tables in the room. A staff member was having a private celebration in the other room. Would have been a better experience if our table was in the other room. We work in the hospitality field, so would notice more then most. But all the other tables commented out loud how disruptive the crazy lady was. We were the voluntary sounding block (we gave the waitress permission to vent)
Our reservation was at 19h30, we had to wait until 19h50 before someone realized that few people were waiting in the entrance. At 20h00 our table still wasn't ready... We had to wait another 10 min to get the menus and when we mentioned the wait to the host (who seemed to be the person in charge that night) he reluctantly offered us a beer. I'm not sure if they were short staff but the service was poor. We were hoping to find a new spot for German comfort food but just for the service, we won't go back.
Food was really delicious. Came out nice and hot which is awesome. But took quite a long time to get the food. I often don't notice if the wait for food is long, but I noticed this time as it was a particularly long wait time. Even so, I would totally recommend this place.
The house is very quaint and the restaurant has some very delicious Bavarian cuisine. I recommend the combo platter which includes schnitzel, beef rouladen, bratwurst, and spätzle.
Please note that this location is busy most days of the week but they do have quite a few tables. However, if you desire a more quiet time for dinner, I recommend coming after 7:30 pm.
As usual, we were immediately seated. The service was just right, prompt but not intrusive. The highlight, of course, was the wonderful food. We all enjoyed escargot as an appetizer. It is always difficult to choose the entre, but this time we enjoyed Chicken Breast Tofino, Schnitzel Rockefeller and Roasted Garlic Potato Pancakes and Spatzle "Taegar Art". Oh, the Black Forest sauce and the red cabbage is to die for. Until next time!
We booked our table 2 weeks ago through Open Table. We arrived 20 mins earlier and not all my friends had arrived. However, we had our table within 5 minutes. Few minutes later, a waitress told us they needed our table for next customer and giving us less than 2 hours for dining. Normally this is enough for a dinner but this is Christmas friends gathering, we told her that we were not told when we made the reservation and we couldn’t gauranteed about that. For the whole dinner, everything was in rush like no water, no clean up, no follow up, no service just want to give us the bill and leave. Anyway, not worth it overall unless you don’t mind paying restaurants price but getting fast food service aka NO SERVICE.
We attended for a family member's birthday. Cheryl, our server, was fun, personable and efficient. Food was great and we were pleased that they could split one meal between our two grand children. Great wine selection as well. I was the only one who had been there before and the rest of our party was very impressed for their first time there.
Generally we enjoyed our meal, and we were pleased that our server spoke German. We were disappointed in the table we received though. We did make our reservation 2 months in advance, and I informed the restaurant that we were bringing in a young girl from Munich to celebrate her 16th birthday. We thought the decor would remind her of home. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas, but the table we were given was right by the door and in a drafty location. I asked if we could move to another one in the middle of the room, but was informed it was already reserved. That is understandable. However, There were other tables set up for 4 people that would have been fine, and I believe that the hostess could have offered us another option.
