The Odeon Ratings and Reviews
I can always count on the Odeon for a great time.
This time it was brunch with an old friend in from London. We had a delicious meal in a cosy booth and chatted for an hour just catching up. The room was full but no one chased us away. My guest had the eggs benedict and warm doughnuts for desert! I had a simple egg dish with hot tea. We shared stories, photos, and I am so pleased that we had this time together. She is taking a new job, and will be moving onto Bagdad, Iraq soon. She'll have a risky living and work environment soon. But for today, we had a safe unhurried time to enjoy a great mean and good company. Thanks Odeon!
I've been eating here for years, and EVERY SINGLE TIME it's a superlative experience! I travel a lot for work, and as part of my job, tend to 'dine, not just eat', and the Odeon is definitely a place to dine.
Get a cocktail, some apps, wine, an entree & some 'extras' (bottom left page of the menu), and don't skip dessert! And enjoy/savor the whole experience - well worth it! My typical tab is around $130 p/p, w/good wine, just FYI.
The Odeon is a solid choice in lower Manhattan. The food is good, the service is dependable, and the drinks are well made. They also handle gluten free requests well for those of us who are allergic to wheat, gluten, and their grainy friends. (There isn't a separate gluten free menu, per se, but the servers are well informed, and they always consult/alert the chef.) The space is a little loud, so it isn't really a spot for quiet conversation. That said, it has authentic charm and ambience, so I'd never rule it out for date night or a casual dinner with a couple of friends. I wouldn't recommend it, however, for big groups. It also isn't the kind of place where rambunctious kids under 10 can run around without being dangerously underfoot.
I searched for a restaurant with reasonable portions and prices. I was promised a $30 steak; it was $40. So I had the pork chop -- which was $28 -- and delicious. The waiter was attentive and efficient without being cloying or a pest. The restaurant is a a bit loud, but overall a very good experience, even though the internet lied to me about the $30 steak.
A bustling night, filled to overflowing with happy diners--at least we were. The stuffed squash blossoms have been fabulous all summer but soon they'll be gone--a shame. The mussels and the ravioli were good as usual as were our drinks. One of our continuing favorite go-to restaurants.
Always consistent and enjoyable. Even with the increase in business, the staff remains humble and warm. A family with two poorly behaving children arrived and were seated next to us which could have completely ruined our dinner. The Server and Hostess quickly moved us to a table as far away as possible so the evening was saved.
Quick, attentive service, superb choices, fine food, relaxed atmosphere with plenty of people watching--I've been going to Odeon on and off for 20-some years and never been letdown, never had a mediocre experience. Will be meeting a friend there for lunch later this week...
Odeon is still wonderful after all these years.
First time I dined at the Odeon was when Tribeca barely was Tribeca. We had a terrific meal, the service was great and the atmosphere was very hip.
Now, nearly 40 years later, Odeon has morphed from hip to establishment, which in this case, is NOT a bad thing.
The food is still terrific, the service is very efficient and friendly and the place is still buzzing with happy diners....from even demographic. Great wine list as well.
I will not wait another 40 years to return!
So Disappointing .... Gathered 8 friends for a festive 50th birthday dinner and reunion at Odeon - the birthday girls favorite place for many many years ... although the noise level at the bar and dining room was boisterously loud ... within minutes of being seated we were told there were complaints of our noise level - looking around to see who the were, we were only surrounded by calm, happy people . Confused , we called the manager over , his attention as well as the rest of the staff could best be described as disinterested. when asking his name so we could report the bad service and bad experience to the owners , he replied - just tell them I'm ' Mr. Awesome ' .... food was tolerable , but won't be back . So sad that our fond memories of this place have been flushed down the toilet.
