The staff, food, and scene always deliver. In my top 5 of all time.
Food wasn’t as good as I’ve had there
I chose this spot for my wedding reception - a downtown classic! Desserts are outstanding.
Food was surely good enough and mostly as expected. Server was on point, friendly and made good suggestions. Then came the wine (after I finished my negroni). The glass was decent but at the last 1/3 of it got an unusually large sip of sediment. I mentioned it to the server and pointed to the glass that clearly showed the remaining sediment that I didnt swallow. Her response was "that happens often with that wine". Really? Very bad answer on so many levels. I asked her to mention it to management and she said she would. On principal, either comp the drink, re-pour or at least have management come over and say something?!? Put a bad taste in my mouth. Literally. Bad form guys...
Solid brunch and drinks in a classic, old school atmosphere.
We had a nice time, food was ok, but nothing to rave about.
Had not been to Odeon in many years; used to enjoy it a lot, and enjoyed it this time also. But its tables (have they added more?) are so crowded, hard for servers to get through; hard for customers to get in and out, much less make one's way to the restroom. Even by NY standards, really crowded. Food is good although overpriced. Ambience is best part.
This neighborhood restaurant has been around for years, but it never tires. The space is warm and inviting as are the staff and the french bistro food is excellent. I would recommend.
Very nice menu and good, prompt service. The Oysters were especially fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is a bit old-school, put we would definitely go back!
Service was unusually good; Paris Bistro fare and atmosphere
Great atmosphere in a restaurant that does not have too many tourists. Service was brilliant at the table a bit stiff greeting at the door but otherwise truly worth a visit!
It was a great dinner with really great service! Salmon was amazing and the steak was fantastic and cook to perfection, which isn’t an easy task! And the warm donuts for dessert...... AWESOME! Definitely worth going!
Solid bistro fare. In a non-foodie city this would be outstanding, but in NY it’s just ok. If you’re looking for traditional, it’s a good bet.
An 11:00 breakfast/lunch on a cold Saturday morning was the perfect way to begin the weekend. By the time we left, the restaurant was filled. Going earlier is definitely more pleasant.
Always a good experience although the classic Odeon frisée salad just isn’t what it once was. Much smaller, few, small lardons.
I have ALWAYS loved the ODEON, been going there for YEARS and its essential character
has never changed, maye a bit less of a BIG "HOTSPOT" for hipsters and such, but the gain
is in the comfort of QUALITY LONGEVITY in a city where so much feels it has to CHANGE
all the time.
I would say, a CLASSIC of the sort that I welcome. Reliable food, not TOOOOO crazy expensive,
and noise level does not PREVENT real conversation.
PLUS the barperson will make me a BULLSHOT, a cocktail from the mid twentieth century that
I ADORE and that few bother with anymore, so that ALONE kind of assures my loyalty....
First table very cramped and being bumped into by other diners. Second table was fine but kirchen rannout if day’s specials and half the table’s entrees were served 30 minutes before the other half’s. Waiter not very interested in his job. Food was nice but not great. Love the ambiance though. This was a bad night even if the restaurant filled at first was soon half empty.
Excellent service. Accommodated our party of 8 with large round table at last minute change. Food top notch. Nice bar. Will return soon.
Outstanding classic; one of the few remaining invariant New York institutions.
Odeon has been around for decades. Still as much fun as it was in the 80s. Go and enjoy.
I ordered a $17 salad for lunch and it was very small. They should mention not big enough for an entree.
THE ODEON , since its inception , has been a worthwhile restaurant to go to , especially at Lunch Time when the noise level is low. Food is good , service also and the Art Deco look is very pleasing and calming
The purple sticky rice bowl is wonderful! The sriracha broth is so flavorful and adds a great depth of flavor! Also, donuts with raspberry jam and caramel sauces are always a good idea and these ones are warm and delightful.
I loved the new purple rice bowl. Hope that stays on the menu forever.
Nice neighborhood place to go. Good food and atmosphere.
We arrived late for our reservation but the hosts were very accommodating. We had a small wait in the bar area which was vibrant. When we were showed to our table it was lovely. Really cosy restaurant which is candle lit. You can hear the chat around the restaurant but it was at the perfect level to create atmosphere and you could still hold a conversation. Our waiter was very pleasant and looked after us well. The food was delicious and all in all it was a great evening and I am very glad we chose this place for our first night in New York. You can tell this place has a lot of history and the fact that it was very busy shows it is still very much a popular place to dine. The staff are friendly and welcoming and I would recommend this restaurant to colleagues, family and friends.
Odeon is my standby for everyday dining and also for special occasions. It has a nice environment and it is generally easy to get a reservation last minute. It is, however, quite expensive. They also don't like to substitute ingredients, but will take something off though.
Wonderful late-night dinner and wine after a show. Still glamorous and fun after all these years!
I have aways wanted to dine at the ODEON. Ever since I read Bright Lights Big City and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. The atmosphere was perfect for chatting and discussing. I would HIGHLY recommand The ODEON was a perfect place to meet in NYC
We had high expectations that weren’t met. The soup of the day was unremarkeable. The frisée salad was too salty. The service was punctual but not warm. It’s a popular place which makes it a bit crowded and noisy.
Always and forever great.
Food was pretty good. Classic NY restaurant
Casual brunch. Lively but not busy, quick service, good attention, great food.
Odeon continues to delight their customers... I started going to Odeon in 1985. 30 years later, I like it even more now than I did then. They are consistent with good service, fun atmosphere and delicious food!
Good food but we were chatting fir 15 mins after our coffee n we were basically thrown out... manager appeared with our checked coats without us asking..
been going for years always steady and reliable and great interior
Weekday lunch at Odeon is more relaxed than dinner and a better chance to take in the fabulous decor. Same reliable food, including a perfect baby kale Caesar.
This place is an icon and staple for over 30 years for a reason. The wine selection is top notch. The food very very good bistro food. The ambiance and history make it that much more desirable than most other places down that sort of town. The wait was about 20 minutes past my reservation but it was Valentine’s Day so not that bad. The food was coursed and just 5 stars across the board. The steak tartare is perfect. The scallops hmmm so perfectly cooked and the blues crab salad was so fresh and well balanced. The wait staff was very friendly and perfectly attentive not too little not too much. The front of house was slo very warm and welcoming and they dealt with other unfriendly patrons very professionally. I will always eat here when I’m i the neighborhood. Until next time!
