We were earlier than anticipated. Staff was a little to slow and too schematic to react on this. Food was great!
This was a very nice experience. The restaurant was clean and we felt very welcome. Unfortunately we had poor view with lots of rain. The view would have been stunning if it was clear.
The food portions are small for the cost, but what we got was very tasty.
Very good food! The breads with butter were awesome! Great deal to get to the mountain without buying for the sky rides!
Waiter was not confident with his service, seemed very confused and stressed, but a very pleasant man regardless.
Best beef tenderloin I’ve ever had. Recommend 100%
I must say The Observatory is a hidden gem in Vancouver. By hidden I mean most people would associate a restaurant on top of a tourist spot to be, frankly, a tourist trap. The Observatory is not a tourist trap and is anything you would expect from a fine restaurant. I am extremely impressed with the juiciness and tastiness of the pork jowls and baked oyster. Will definitely visit again.
We just got engaged and had a lovely time the staff we so attentive and thoughtful - they put on the dessert plate ‘congratulations’. We loved it and can’t wait to come back!
Great service. My husband is a picky vegetarian with lots of restrictions, the manager and head chef create a delisious and nutritious meal for him. that was impressive.
Your restaurant was where I proposed to my wife 25 years ago. We had not been back since then. We came back to celebrate her birthday & our 25th Anniversary this last Thursday. It was a romantic dinner, with great food & great service!
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Early seating enabled good window seat and quiet atmosphere. Great server (Cynthia). Appetizer (baked oysters) delicious and dessert (trifle) too. One of us liked salmon and octopus. New menu and main course of pork jowls was not to my liking. Much too much fat, but perhaps I should have realized this in advance. In short, a great evening on top of Grouse!
Excellent meal and in-restaurant service. Ambiance was very nice and sound-level was low. The only question we had is why one is expected to wait until just before one’s meal to take the skyride up to the top of Grouse? Why not leave that more open to the customer?
It was great
We came back after being married in the Chalet at Grouse Mountain 6 years ago. Overall, the meal and experience were both great. After a lovely salad starter, we both ordered the two fish dishes, and both were well composed and flavourful. I think my salmon dish edged out the cod by just a smidge, but both were quite tasty. Of course the views out were spectacular as we watched the sun set over the horizon, but the dining room itself is starting to look dated and could benefit from an update soon. We were seated by someone less experienced, but ended the evening with a very friendly and personable waitress who timed our meal well. She even brought us a surprise anniversary dessert made of sorbet and chocolate - yum! I have recommended this restaurant to friends and coworkers since our visit, and we would definitely come back again ourselves.
The service was exceptionalities!
The food and the view were exceptional. Service was impeccable. We really enjoyed ourselves at the observatory and are most likely to do it again for another fine-dining experience.
Service & view are great!
My Salmon was surprisingly unflavoured.
Price / value is reasonable
Beautiful spot, great views, fun experience, friendly staff, worth the trip, decent food doesn’t live up to the ambiance
Fabulous food, fabulous staff, service and of course the views are amazing.
If we were being very nit picky we would just comment that most of the customers were there celebrating special events when we were there and there was a dress code stated on the website so it was a shame that people were allowed in in very casual shorts, hiking Lycra and haversacks. Just a tiny thing but ....
still would like to reiterate it was a wonderful experience.
We loved the food, personnel were amazing and welcoming, view was spectacular. However, charging for extra pieces of bread was really shocking...
Food is delicous and the scene is very beautiful after rain. I will recommmend restaurant for family meeting or date
Nice view and good service. We had a great time having dinner after exploring the mountain.
Once in a lifetime view, but if you're not anywhere near the windows the ambiance isn't even as good as the cafe next door.
Server wasn't very polite, they forgot some things, and the food is good but not the best value.
We enjoyed the food , service and ambiance at the Observatory. Shall definitely come back again.
Great food and ambiance. Also very good service. Love it!
First time here and although the plate was hot, the food was NOT. Sent back and had to wait quite awhile for replacement. While having entree, a tartar appetizer was brought out. I didn't think appropriate after we already started the entree. For the price paid, I would have expected better. Service was alright as it wasn't server's fault. Did get glasses of wine knocked off bill. It was for our anniversary but the restaurant didn't really live up to our expectations for a special occasion.
The server that we had did very minimal work. She barely checked up on us and when she did, it was a monotoned voiced. I felt her service was not up to par with the standards and values of the restaurant. With that in mind, I gave her the tip that reflected her service and she was not too happy with that and she left abruptly.
I really enjoyed the restaurant. The staff were super friendly. The food was an amazing culinary experience, we had the 5 course meal with wine pairing. Would highly recommend for special occasions as the view is stunning
We had a very nice sea food dinner and evening at Grouse Mountain. It was a birthday for my wife and she just loved it.
If it wasn’t for the view, the food would have been absolute atrocious. Too many things going on in the dish, no distinct flavour. Just threw everything at the plate and hope it sticks. Stay away from the fish, really really dry and salty.
Go up there and enjoy the view but eat somewhere else.
It's expensive and the food selections are limited. Some plates are good while some are not. The chicken and the beef are very good, but the vegetarian one left something to be desired. The service was very good. The view, of course, is amazing!
Great, picturesque view out of the large window. Service was quick and responsive and very accommodating and the food was quite good as well.
Amazing dinner. Amazing treatment. Easy parking. Delicious food! Loved Renata!
The food was excellent, as was the view. It was an anniversary celebration and the service and staff could not have been nicer. Pricing was comparable to other similar caliber restaurants; food presentation was appetizing and we were not “hustled” through our meal to make room for other diners.
Lovely view, the food was beautifully presented and tasted very nice.
Food and Services was great. The tasting menu was creative and delicious.
We ordered the Five Course Tasting Menu and felt the courses were quite similar in taste. Also, the red wine pairings were not appropriate.
Our impression is The Observatory relies on its location and view and doesn't feel it needs to compete with other restaurants for its food quality.
Good for tourists but not locals as other restaurants offer better food and value for money.
Excellent food in a great setting, the former is not always a given
This one my son's and I first time in Vancouver and I wanted to do something special for the last day of work/visit. The views were spectacular, ambiance was wonderful, the wine list was large enough to have a nice variety and our waitress and supporting group were great if not sometimes slow. My only suggestion would be have a little larger selection for the entrees. I booked the reservation for late evening and was not disappointed by the sunset and the city lights twinkling off the Bay. We also saw a Fireworks display that evening. If asked, yes I would return.
Great experience, food was very tasty and service was outstanding! It was my wife's bday and they even made a courtesy special dessert with a nice msg. That was so nice! Thanks again!
Chicken was soooooo good! Octopus appetizer was a bit chewy.
