Very good food.. excellent service..nice ambience...except for the loud lady guest beside us.
Many complained about for the food quality so we don't have our expectation high.
The food is actually good, and it may be a few dollars per dishes more expensive than its city peers but consider you are saving lift tickets, this is a deal!
Service is very attentive and friendly!
The Observatory went above and beyond my expectation. The exceptional view over Vancouver atop Grouse Mountain was expected. The quality of food and service is at least on par with the spectacular scenery.
The food is very good in taste, but I must confess there is place for improvement of the overall - the quantities should be a bit larger.
The service was very good too, but I felt the dish explanations the waiter was doing when delivering at the table was forced - that's OK for us, because we didn't even care about that.
The location is spectacular. When you book, I recommend to leave a note to the restaurant, asking for your table to be by the window.
The value for the money... Not bad, but it could be much better if the food quantity was a bit higher.
We enjoy it!my niece whose visiting from Spain love the place and the food!
Lovely setting. The food is excellent. We had the roasted carrots, the farmhouse chicken and the blood orange trifle and they really well prepared. I've paid the same at other restaurants that did not come close. We will definitely go again.
The dining experience at the Observatory was excellent. The food, service, setting and overall experience was lovely.
However, considering we attended a Christmas Day dinner. I did expect that there might have been a few extra touches to remind us of the occasion such as a Christmas cracker per person, complimentary drink, servers dressed in seasonal colours, table settings and room decorated in festive arrangements.
While pleasant, apart from a tree, there was little to remind us that December 25 is a special day.
We have a very relax Christmas Day dinner. Service is good and view is beautiful. The only thing not perfect was the wait time for gondola down the mountain. Overall was very enjoyable.
Good afternoon. My wife and I had dinner on Christmas night. Most everything was perfect. Clear night, window table, good food, walk in the light park afterwards, oh and go to the front of the line on the gondola was excellent. But there were two items that I'd like to comment on;
1. We were told of the 18% tip as we were being seated. Maybe it was in the booking literature but I didn't see it. A tip is for the customer to add based on how they felt the service and food ranked. To us, 18% is the high end of a tip and for it to be forced on the customer is not right. Maybe a large table, but not two persons. That 18% is being based also on an expensive bottle of wine that is already marked way up. Not right. Our tip came in at something like 50+ dollars for two people. This is excessive!
2. We were aware of the dress code and were dressed appropriately. A table was seated next to us that wore ski touques during dinner. Enforce your dress code! I can go to the lounge if I want to dine with people in there ski gear.
very good, my family loves it!
The 3 course tasting lunch was excellent - I particularly enjoyed the fish main course. The staff provided a mini birthday cake and candle for my son's birthday, which was unexpected.
The only negative was that I found the room a bit too cold - I almost had to put my coat on.
Excellent service, quality food and amazing view
I've been up to Grouse many times but it was my first time eating at the Observatory and I was not disappointed. The ambience up here during the holidays is magical and an experience not to miss. And I can't begin to rave about the food....just amazingly delectable. Definitely a place to visit for locals or tourists.
This a good l venue to celebrate special occasions. The experience is very nice and different.
Grouse Mountain certainly retains its reputation as one of Vancouver’s great dining out experiences. It begins with the approach to the gondola operator at the base who greets you by name! To have such an alpine experience right in our backyard is extraordinary. The food is superb, the ambiance unmatched. Recommended. Ralph Sultan
Food was good. portion was slight small but it was good.
Food choice was limited and service mediocre. One would expect more from “high end” in Vancouver
The staff was very accommodating to assist our son and daughter to plan a 40th anniversary for my husband and myself. It was a relaxing evening to remember
Service was slow..took awhile to get seated because nobody was at the front desk. Food was too salty, and portions are ok but nothing special. Didn’t feel that high end and probably wouldn’t come back.
Excellent service, food was outstanding.
Great ambience, the staff are extraordinarily knowledgeable about what is on your plate, what is available and seem to have quite a few relevant and interesting anecdotes. The views, oh, the views from the appropriately name “Observatory” are so magical and breathtaking. The view paired with the meal as if it were a fine wine, it seemed to accentuate the taste. You definitely pay for what you get and the experience was well with the price.
The food was good but it took so long to finally get seated .. like 20 min and when we were done we had to wait 10 min just to get our coats because no one was ever at the fron t desk. Did not feel like a high end restaurant other than the food
Quite amazing night out with my wife
The restaurant is nice and cozy with beautiful view. Service was very good.
For food it was okay, nothing to brag about wish they had more options. We order baked oysters, chicken for 2 and the tart for dessert.
Our waitress was great
Knowledgeable and helpful
Helped guide us in our selection of wines
Seemed to REALLY enjoy her work
From Northern Ontario, can't wait to come back
Excellent view, service, vegetarian appetizers and meal. The fact that you don’t have to pay the $55.00 to get up the hill with a reservation here is icing in the cake. Although it stipulates you can only go up an hour early, on the Thursday of our reservation, we were let up almost 2 hours early when we didn’t plan travel time properly. It allowed us time to enjoy the whole area before our reservations and take plenty of pics of the beautiful sunset.
Would recommend with hesitation to price verses portion size.
everything was good but the service was amazing! thanks for that
Excellent service and delicious food, not to mention the million dollar view! The only negative is the restaurant is a bit too dark which makes it difficult to read the menu and see the dishes clearly.
Great view and enjoyable meal. Ride up and back very nice.
The view was spectacular and the service was amazing. I have to say it was the best experience I have had in Canada
Good food, great ambiance and an experience worth remembering. The service staff were especially courteous, well informed and extremely helpful. Their warm welcome added to the overall wonderful experience.
Going up and down the muntain on the Skyride in the dark added to the excitement!
Great food! In fact one of the best we have ever had in addition to good service and great ambience. The Observatary is now our favorite restaurant in Vancouver. We really had a good night.
Service not as good as the food.
My boyfriend and I went to The Observatory for our anniversary dinner last week of October. The service was great, they gave us the table by the window just as requested on the OpenTable reservation. James was our main server, but Heidi also assisted us in the desserts' choice. We highly recommend them! For dinner, we had the chicken for two, which was a great portion and delicious! Thank you for a great night!
For an experience that costs nearly $300 for two, you would expect the service to be exquisite and the attention to detail on par with any fine dining establishment (or even a modest casual eatery). Unfortunately, that was not the case here. Despite being told that diners have a two hour limit at the outset, I ordered the recommended five course tasting - an experience I later learned, that is supposed to last 2.5 hours. It is most unfortunate to anyone else in the party who does not order this because their main entrees will not be served until nearly 2 hours after ordering. In any other restaurant, this would be unthinkable - but when we raised the issue to management, we were told that this was standard. We had to repeatedly ask for water (at least twice before it was served) and the service was sloppy (their fingers/hands grazed the tops of utensils as they were being placed on the table several times). I had high hopes here, especially since I drove across North America and planned a vacation around Grouse Mountain, with the dinner as the pinnacle of the experience. Unfortunately, it was a huge let down.
Great restaurant, delicious food, excellent service, amazing views
Amazing experience. Surrounded by awesome server and cook. Appreciated eat with the most beautiful view on metro Vancouver. I'll be right back.
