The Oar Steak and Seafood Grill
Excellent food. Great atmosphere. LOVE eating outside on the water. Our waiter, Nick was outstanding!
Just a lovely place to be, all around...food service location
I always love it here! Great seafood menu with tasty, interesting things! Friendly staff! A bit noisy during Happy Hour but you can request a table far from the bar Im sure. Love it!
The restaurant itself was visually pleasing and inviting, however there was a small smell and flies. I ordered a gluten free entree and added a lobster tail to it which did not specify on the menu that it came with breadcrumbs or rice with barley in it. After letting the waitress know they took the lobster tail in the back rinsed off the bread crumbs and reserved it to me. Fortunately for me they did not rinse off all the breadcrumbs and I realize what had been done. I also asked about the rice and was told that the barley was lentil which was ont true and ridiculous. She also forgot both my drink and my husbands drink we didn't get it until the end of the meal. Once we left the restaurant the then canceled my open table Reservation to try and stop me from leave a review. We will not return.
We had a great time, Stephanie made my mother in laws birthday a memorable one, so kind ,sweet and efficient!
We love the Oar, never a bad meal!!!
The food was great. The only thing I could say negative is that it would have been helpful to have signs outside from the parking lot directing you to the restaurant. The first building you come to, I think, is the catering hall. The restaurant is actually in the back on the side.
Awesome service and excellent meal. Great evening!
Such a good time with family
The oysters appetizer was delicious, but after that it was downhill. The acoustics in the restaurant make it impossible to hold a conversation. The swordfish over risotto was dry and over cooked. Fortunately our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately, the only way we will return is if we go just to get done oysters and sit outside. There are plenty of other local options for that.
Drove from Brooklyn NY to have lunch here with friends. Upon arriving and informing the hostess that it would be a party of 8 instead of 6 I detected a slightly annoyed attitude and was told we could not be seated until all 8 arrived. We said we'd like to order drinks..from the bar we were told and when the rest of your party gets here you'll be seated. Not sure I get that logic sure seems quite inhospitable to me but after we were seated we had a great server who went above and beyond for us. The food was so so but we were there for the company so it really didn't matter to me. Unfortunately I won't be going back even though I am in the that area quite frequently to visit family. As they say one and done.
Love the oar! It’s such a great place
Good food, service and atmosphere
Not the best have had better there
Every time I've been to the Oar House it's been great!
Great waterfront scenery. Food and service was excellent. Highly recommend.
Good, though overpriced, food with ordinary service. Add a star for the view.
Chilean Sea Bass excellent. Water refills good. Noise level horrible. My back was to the bar at a round table at window and I had to ask friends to speak loudly. I requested a quiet table and should have been in back rm. I asked waitress to move and she said it wd not make any difference.
Bright & brilliant new décor....always great dining experience!
Everything was very good except noisy, sun glare (they need shades) and pricey.
The food is great! Really enjoyed our dinner out here.
At first we were brought to sit in the front which was nice but immediately the smell of smoke consumed us before we could even sit down. We asked to move to the back, dock side view, and we were much happier. There's no smoking inside but there's separate door access near the bar where people can smoke in an enclosed area outside and that's why we smelled it.
Still my favorite place to dine as long as we stay away from that side.
Absolutely fabulous the service the meal the manger and the owner came by to make sure our meal was perfect . Will go back very soon. Love it .
Loved this hidden gem in the heart of Patchogue!
The restaurant was loud. Although the food was very tasty, it could have been served much hotter. The dinner portions were on the smaller side. The bread pudding was served with a half scoop of ice cream which really seemed like nothing.
The food was pretty good, I think that the portion was rather small but I guess that’s what I should have expected for a prix fix menu. I felt bad for our waitress, she was dealing with an entire room of tables by herself, I guess they didn’t plan on it being so busy for restaurant week. The New England Clam Chowder was excellent, though I thought my jumbo shrimp were anything but jumbo. The chocolate chip bread pudding was amazing and was loaded with chocolate chips.
Everything was wonderful. The service was great and the food was excellent.
The service from Kim was phenomenal! She was attentive, energetic, knowledgeable and overall the best service we have had on Long Island.
Food was great, however noise level was very loud. Noise coming from a large table who were very loud.
One of our favorites. Great food!
If you enjoy seafood, please consider this restaurant. Super fresh selections and a wonderful and attentive staff. The restaurant has a great nautical flair. Thank you to their chefs and waitstaff for a flavorful and delicious meal. They were also sensitive to guests with allergies and cooked to order for us :)
Again the food was good. Watching the boat parade and having dinner is a great experience.
The food was great and we love the place, service was fine. If I had a complaint it would be that it took a while after we were sat to take drink order and while I was eating still they tried to take my plate. I had to explain I was still eating. But I still would recommend and we will be back.
Food was ok. Appetizers were good the lobster Won Tons were doughy sauces were average . seafood chowder was good . my husband got the French onion tasted like Manhattan clam chowder to him and he is a cook ..made up for that withbgis entree bountiful on the diavolo... I got the special surf n turf... Was alright steak wasn't done the way in had asked .. Was noisey as we were sat next to the bar .. Our server Sam was wonderful very attentive...
Outstanding food and service
We love going to The Oar, during the nicer months. It has an awesome outside area to eat right on the water. The food is always good and the staff friendly. It is nice during the colder months as well but we really like going here when it is warm out. The view is really nice and they usually have entertainment out on the deck on the weekends.
Awesome food and place! Can't wait to go back!
Food and service were good. Will go back but not on a Friday night. Noise was way too loud.
Popular restaurant and I found out why! The food and service were excellent. From drinks, through appetizers, dinner and dessert, our entire party was impressed. Can't wait to return...
I suggest making a reservation because the 1st time I went it was closed for a party. The second time I went there was a wait. Finally the 3rd time I went I made a reset and was seated right away. The food was great. When it came time for the bill the waitress told me I had $40.00 left to spend on my Groupon. When I added up the bill on my own I was only $4.00 off. I feel I was mislead on how much I spent so I would spend more money. I highly suggest adding up your bill on your own.
I had the roast duck. It was two legs w/ thighs but no breast. You had no choice on how you wanted it cook. It came only one way which was slightly over cooked and dry. My wife had the scallops which were very good. We started with the tuna tartar and PEI mussels. Both were very nice. It was "steak night" Thursday and so very crowded and the service was a little slow. We arrived close to 7pm, had appetizers and entree only and didn't leave until 9:30. All in all it was a good experience.
