The Oar Steak and Seafood Grill
Only reason noise was a band was playing.
No complaints, the guy they had playing was extremely good. No complaints at all about anything.
Good quick service, great food. Nice ambiance.
Food, atmosphere and service were perfect
It was a nice location by the water. It wasn't exactly what I wanted for a cozy quiet date. The bar area was a bit loud, the ambience was to bright and tables too close to have a private conversation. Good place to go with a group or family. If you are looking for date place to woo someone I wouldn't recommend it.
Or is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is excellent, the staff is very friendly, and we love the ambience.
We went here for Valentine's day. The staff were very pleasant and friendly and the restaurant was very energetic. The Valentine's menu had a good selection and they had a cute little candy table we're you could take some candy home with you free of charge. We really liked the appetizer and soup and the desserts were amazing. However our dinner the pasta and seafood was on the bland side and the sauce was on the water side however the seafood was cooked very well. My boyfriend got the buffalo ravioli. They tasted okay but we're very flat and barely filled with anything. Because the appetizers and the desserts were so good. We will definitely give this place another try and just hope because of the busy holiday that the food was a little rushed and maybe didn't get the normal attention they give their food normally.
should have been more too choose from on menu very limited
Very disappointed in our night out. The place was congested, the staff over worked. Took forever to get a drink order in, expensive meal for not a great night out.
This is a hidden gem - lively , romantically and great food . Steak or seafood , all great . Live music on sat night a bonus !
The food was good for restaurant week. We ordered a bottle of wine and it came to the table open and poured into 2 glasses. Not a good thing...
It wasn’t horrible, but I don’t think I will miss out on anything if I never went back.
Absolutely delicious food and genuinely friendly staff. I live in queens but it was worth the drive. Can't wait to go back.
Great time at the Oar House - perfect martini at the bar with nice live music ... delicious dinner and wonderful service from Stephanie . My Chilean Sea Bass was amazing - we will be back soon 😃
We tried this during restaurant week and was a disappointing experience
The service slow the food was minimal
And not good
My lobster croquet was all potato no lobster at first I had the swordfish it was so dry I had to send it back
My husband and I had the sea bass and we were both sick the next day
Great restaurant with great service and food.
Their restaurant week menu was one of the best dinners I’ve had at the Oar. We started with an extra course of the seafood bisque which was amazing. The lobster croquet and the center cut filet were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The scallops were amazing as was the swordfish. They ran out of the mousse dessert but were able to make one for me which was worth the entire visit.
Food and service is always top notch . Staff is always friendly
My book club met there for restaurant week and it was perfect! It was a cold blustery night but inside was cozy and welcoming. I had the oyster sushi as an appetizer which was light and refreshing avocado, chilled oyster and perfect ahi tuna served on the half shell. Shrimp and rigatoni with spinach in a delicious garlic broth was the entree -perfectly cooked and yummy! Dessert for me was bread pudding and I was glad I had room for it! My friends sampled the scallops, roasted squash salad and the crab cake- plates were cleaned! The swordfish entree also wasbenjoyed. Dessert was a light and fluffy chocolate mousse which they unanimous loved! I would absolutely return and recommend the Oar- I loved it the service was outstanding too! Our waitress was sweet and patient and the support staff terrific as well
Came here for Restaurant week. Delish!!!!
This was our first time dining here. We were pleasantly surprised!! The view was outstanding and we must come back during the warmer months! Our waitress, Kim was extremely pleasant and made us feel at home and was able to answer all of our questions about the menu as well about the oars hanging neatly throughout. She was so enthusiastic that it made us fall in love with the place before we ordered. The clam chowder was delicious and had huge pieces of clams in it. The swordfish was delectable! The table next to ours ordered the Porterhouse for two that comes out on a sizzling grill and the smell was intoxicating. We will have to try that next!!
Excellent and immediate service. Greeted warmly by hostess, waitress. Selections were awesome. Chai drink aka cocktail was on point. The salads were crisp, served on chilled plates and delectable to my palate. Wait till you see the desert display oh my ! Steak was cooked to order, potato was piping hot, shrimp cocktail delightful A must visit. A+
Food was delicious and fresh...may have been the best swordfish I have ever had...salad was fresh and tasty..great experience and will definitely be back..live accoustic music was a pleasant surprise on a Saturday night
We dine earlier on Saturday's and found the service to be exceptional and friendly. Our food was prepared as we requested and the wine was chilled properly.
First time at The Oar and we were really pleased - the food was excellent (although not cheap). Even though we had some people with us who didn't eat fish, everyone was happy with their meal. I had the prime rib and it was awesome! The live music was great - but don't expect quiet conversation since it was pretty loud on our side of the dining room. The service was good - but the wait was very long between courses. I would definitely come again to see if that is better next time. Overall we had a great time and would definitely recommend you try The Oar.
I always think of this place as a go to summer location, however I decided to go there Christmas week and was really happy that the specials and drinks were amazing! Very friendly staff and great service! We will be back! SOON!
Overall it was a good night out with friends and we will be coming back in the future.
Never a bad meal place looks great since renovations friendly staff
It was decorated so beautiful and the sun was setting which was a perfect scene...hostess was AMAZING and so accommodating. Other then that I was not happy with the food. I paid a lot for very little and not what I asked for.
First time here. Treated my department to a pre-holiday dinner. The food was exceptional, as was the service and the ambience. I will return with friends as well as a date night with my wife.
Went for dinner before the Patchogue Theater. Everything put on that table was phenominal. Will be going back.
Incredible food, beautiful views and live music was great! We always have a fabulous experience when we dine at The Oar!
Everything was good except they ran out of several items such as the chicken dish and the vegetable of the day
Food was great and service was even better! Chilean sea bass was delicious. The rest of the family had filet mignon and the prime rib and they loved it. Even my 5 year old enjoyed this place very much and loved the boat his food come out in! I’m looking forward to coming back especially when the weather warms up!
Went to dinner with friends and enjoyed the restaurant week menu. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent.
Amazing food, service and price for Restaurant Week!
I rarely go to the Oar for dinner because I prefer their lunch menu. However, they are in the process of overhauling their wine and food menus. We chose to eat here because do not offer a prix fixe menu and the options sounded good. My shrimp dish and crab cake appetizer was outstanding and my friend said the swordfish was cooked perfectly.
Such a great night. The owner came around to make sure everything was OK! Food was delicious!
We came to The Oar to celebrate our anniversary during Restaurant Week. The menu was great - something for everyone. The wine specials were a great value. Food was excellent and served in a very attractive way. The waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. I would definitely go back to The Oar and try some of their regular menu selections.
Beautiful we really enjoyed our appetizers, drinks, Dinner was perfectly seasoned just delicious, I’ll definitely visit again. My only problem upon arrival the greeting at the front was cold!!! Not sure what the young lady expected when we walked in!! We definitely felt unwelcome then once seated it was a great experience.
Great food! Had the 29.00 special. Bass with horseradish sauce and rice. Salad and lobster wontons!
First Time, will be back with Friends Service and Food was outstanding
The food is consistent, delicious and served by friendly, very competent staff. We love it here.
