About The Oak Room at the Granville Inn
Dinner reservations are for The Oak Room dining experience and it's menu. We do not accept reservations for our Tavern. The Tavern menu and seating are first come first served basis. During lunch we do seat in both spaces and Oak Room seating may be requested. The Historic Granville Inn is a nationally registered historic landmark & full service hotel. Established in 1924, it exemplifies the Arts & Crafts movement. Prominent architect Frank Packard included native sandstone, richly stained oak paneling, & English cottage influences. The contemporary American menu features seasonal ingredients & classic cooking techniques. Executive Chef Chad Lavely utilizes local produce, hand-cut steaks, seafood, artisan cheese , hand-crafted bread & house made desserts. Enjoy heritage cocktails in the cozy Tavern wine, craft beers, and seasonal drinks.

The Oak Room at the Granville Inn Ratings and Reviews
The Granville Inn is beautiful. The Oak Room was not open so we ate in an adjoining bar area. It was not very busy. The gluten free choices were not good. I had a rice, bean, corn bowl. It was very spicy and very expensive. I asked for the rice pudding for dessert, but they did not have any. We will not be going back. The next time we go to Granville, we are going to Whit's for ice cream.
Do not go if you don't have at least an hour to spend there. The the of us went and arrived 10 mins before the reservation. There was not many people there and no one waiting when we arrived. We were seated 15 mins later. It took 10 minutes for a server to arrive and take it drinks and another 10 before she came back to take our food order. Meanwhile two tables that arrived after us were able to get their orders in with another server. Our food arrived 20 mins later right after one of the two other tables got theirs. Food was delicious. Server only stopped by once to get refills and it was like pulling teeth.
This is one of the better restaurants in the Kenyon/Denison area. We enjoyed our meal and the service was very friendly but the room was so cold that it ruined the experience. While we mentioned it a few times to our waitress, it was never properly adjusted. The mushroom appetizer was good. Salads were just okay. I had the scallop entree and the scallops were very tasty but the side dish was rather blah. My husband really enjoyed his salmon - not overcooked - but again, he didn't care for the side. Our daughter had the lamb which was cooked properly. The dish itself was a bit ambitious. As good as it seems to get in this area of Ohio.
We had made reservations for Sunday brunch weeks before, but when we arrived and we're seated we had to wait almost 15 minutes just to see a waitress, even though many were around. They appeared a little unorganized! Otherwise, our food was very good and the service became better.
Brother & sister-in-law visiting from out of state. We had tasty meals. The Tavern was not busy. My sister-in-law's grilled cheese with veggies included toasted, rather than grilled bread and mostly raw red pepper that she couldn't eat. No beverage refill until we finished dining. Couldn't even get the server's attention. It's the little things that make the difference between a good and great experience.
Another excellent meal at the Granville Inn. We love the Monday night wine and dine special. It's a great value in a great atmosphere . We had incredible service as usual from Wendy . She always makes the dining experience that much better . I had the mushroom Ragu appetizer and the crab Louie entrée both were delectable and I consumed every morsel !
Our first visit in many years since a renovation. A beautiful, historic place. We visited on a Saturday evening and the dining room wasn't completely full when we arrived, but did fill up. Our food was very good and exactly as ordered, however our service was very slow, particularly between appetizers and main course - a total of about 2.5 hours for 2 people(?). Fortunately, we did not have tickets/another place to be afterward. Will likely revisit one day, but not very soon.
One night get away with my wife. The Inn and Oak Room Restaurant are excellent. Atmosphere is very romantic and the food was excellent. I had the Scallops and my wife had the Steak Diane. We shared a Blackberry Cobbler which was to die for! The only reason I did not give 5 stars was due to the air conditioning. We were seated at a nice table under a window at the back of the room. The AC vent was above us and when it kicked on there was quite a bit of air flow. The waitress was trying her best to short cycle the flow by adjusting the thermostat but it was still very noticeable. It never became uncomfortable so would not consider it a major issue. We will definitely try to come back as we really enjoyed our stay and meal.
This was my third visit in the past 3 months. I have nothing but positive thoughts about the Oak Room. I have tried different choices from a surprisingly innovative menu: Tuna with muscles, salmon, Steak Diane. All three were wonderfully done. The service is very attentive and helpful.
It was my birthday and we were
meeting my daughter-in-laws parents for lunch. We unfortunately sat inside and it was like an igloo.
I had to put a napkin around myself to stay warm!!! We then went on the patio so we could talk after the meal. The waitress indicated she couldn't turn down air-conditioning.
We had a fantastic anniversary dinner at the Granville Inn! We were able to eat outside on the patio and both the food and the ambiance was wonderful. Our server Wendy was outstanding and very informative about the food and history of the restaurant. I would definitely recommend it!
We waited 20 minutes for anyone to come to our table.
We waited 35 minutes after we placed our order for the food. The waitress was congenial but it seemed she was too busy to attend to us in a timely manner. It was about 25 minutes after we got the food before we saw the waitress again.Chicken salad tauted as Lazarus' recipe was very disappointing. The portion was small and the chicken was very tough. There was not enough dressing. Not near the quality chicken salad that Lazarus made.
We had taken our friends there for a birthday celebration and were embarrassed by the poor service and quality of the food.
Since reopening, nothing on the menu stands out. But what's worse is the service. Painfully slow (we refilled our own waters after not seeing the waitress for 20+ minutes) and waited 30 minutes for our checks, which were then picked up and taken to the cash register one-by-one for our party for four... Completely inefficient and overall underwhelming. Go anywhere else.
