   The service was good and the ambience good, but the food wasn't hot and the plates were cold.

   We were not warned beforehand that a works Christmas “do” was being held in the SAME room. About a hundred people,with a noise level to match.People constantly placing their drinks on our table etc. If it wasn’t for the fact that we had “paid” for our meal beforehand by virtue of a “Gourmet Guide “ Brochure,we would have walked straight out. The manager gave us a complimentary bottle of wine at the end as a peace offering - but the whole thing was entirely unacceptable. Our last trip to the Oak House… Richard Smith

   Having booked a table in the restaurant we were disappointed to find out that it was closed for a wedding so we were given a table in the bar. There was limited choice on the menu for two non meat eaters and one of us had cauliflower cheese which was so runny it was like soup. When we mentioned this to the waitress she seemed totally uninterested. The toasted sandwich wasn't really toasted. All in all it was a very disappointing experience.

   Very pleased we found The Pheasant at Wookey it was exactly what we were after. There had been a misunderstanding about the booking but that was no problem and swiftly sorted out. We had a lovely meal in a great pub. The icing on the cake was the landlord bringing out a fudge cake with a candle and singing Happy Birthday as he delivered it. Fantastic place. Highly recommended.

   Room 1 decor was a little tired. Some of the restaurant and bar seating was worn and grubby. Having saying that, the staff were great. Good music played in bar / restaurant areas. Good pub grub menu. Nice ‘dog friendly’ hotel and restaurant.

   The food and service was amazing. There was a birthday party celebration going on at the same time which was a bit loud at times but this was not the fault of the hotel or the staff and the birthday revellers were very friendly. Really enjoyed the meal we had and would definitely eat there again when I’m in the area

   We did not eat at the restaurant. On arrival, the place was empty. We asked for a menu but the only food on offer was a reduced bar menu - pizzas and snacks. Their excuse was they'd had a wedding that afternoon and had no kitchen staff. No one had informed us of this and I was left very embarrassed as I have two very good friends with me whom I hadn't seen for over 10 years. Thank goodness for The Lamb across the town square who accommodated us at the last minute and served a delicious meal.

   We had booked the upstairs area but on arrival found it to be empty and so lacked atmosphere. We waited at the bar to be served and to request changing our booked table to down in the bar where there were other diners. We were totally ignored by the guy behind the bar, leaving the bar to go and serve meals. No ‘sorry, I’ll be back with you in a minute’. We were very disappointed with the menu. Basically pizzas, burgers, fish and chips or rump steak. What a shame as the venue is lovely inside and has a prime location in the beautiful village square with fabulous outside seating, this place could be a goldmine but unfortunately we shan’t be returning. Not everyone wants to eat pizzas and burgers!!

   Really good food in this pub hotel restaurant lovely hosts who pointed us in the right direction for things to do in the area. The trio of tapas was gorgeous and the chicken and ham hock terrine was to die for we would recommend The Oakhouse in Axbridge set on the corner beautiful little square.
