About The Oak Kitchen

Chef Jayson Holzworth's product-driven cooking philosophy ensures the freshest and most seasonally relevant ingredients are the centerpiece for each visit to our California bistro. The Oak Kitchen offers a daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner experience focused on these simple culinary principles.
Each Sunday, The Oak Kitchen plays host to Bluegrass Brunch; featuring fresh seafood, made-to-order eggs, organic market-inspired salads, chef-carved meats, lavish desserts, and live bluegrass music from Silver Mountain String Band.

We enjoyed our walk through the beautiful grounds of the Ojai Valley Inn and found the restaurant overlooking the golf course, right on the edge of a fairway and some magnificent oak trees. Amazing view and ambiance to enjoy an outdoor lunch! The food is pricey but good and we weren't surprised at the cost given the unbelievable setting. We were celebrating a birthday and day in Ojai and it was fun to contrast the hotel with the artsy little town.
Loved The Oak Kitchen at Ojai Valley Inn. I went to the Oak for Sunday Buffet Brunch. First, every one of the Staff was friendly, helpful, and happy.
The buffet brunch was not huge, but not small. The muffins of the eggs benedict were burnt and should not have been served, but overall the eggs were cooked well and good. (it happens)
The crab claws were very good and cooked right. Nice large shrimps, but the one I got was undercooked.
The Oak Kitchen makes homemade granola which is excellent and you can buy it in their store Libby. I had the granola with fresh fruits and yogurt.
The buffet has an omlete bar, carving station, desserts, salads, meats, and cheeses.
Although not all the food was perfect, there was lots to choose from .
After brunch the property is beautiful and relaxing to walk around with a live band, golfers, and people lounging.
I will definately be back.
Absolutely wonderful dinner at dusk with great food and live soft rock music. We had a table overlooking the golf golf course and a fall-themed display with hay bales and pumpkins. The musician was outstanding, some people were dancing and overall pleasant evening. Had to try the brussel sprouts, of course. Our table enjoyed the scallops, chicken, steak, and salmon. Everyone's plates were empty and we were all elated about this special Saturday night out at the Inn.
We came in to celebrate a birthday. It was 105 degrees and the bell boys did not offer a scuttle to the restaurant. In heat, like the day we were there, and Martin was not busy, it would have been nice to extend the service. Our server was sweet but poorly trained. At the table I had to ask for water 3 times. Poor service, slow and inefficient. My salmon was over cooked and presented in a deep dish bowl so awkward to cut and weak in flavor. The peaches in the cobbler were Not ripe. And we had to ask for a glass of wine twice after we ordered it. Beautiful view of oak trees, but disappointed and hardly worth the drive.
Amazing! Live music on Saturdays with Kevin Obrien playing under the oak trees. Great view and ambiance. Plenty of space indoors and outdoors weather permitting. Outside there are heat lamps and a cover for rain. Even with music outdoors it is still easy to have a conversation. Great place for a date night, special occasion, or even a casual meal. Our favorite place to eat in Ojai.
Celebrated our 10 year anniversary and had a great meal! The roasted brussel sprouts are a must try as an appetizer. My wife had really good scallops and my duck breasts was cooked perfectly. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. We will be coming back for dinner and look forward to trying the Sunday brunch.
Exceptional dining experience with a special someone. Top quality brunch. Broad options, each delicious. Lovely setting. Warm, attentive service. Enhanced by skilled musicians who warranted pausing to listen, but did not distract from conversation. Pricey? Yes! Worth the experience? Indeed.
It was outstanding, the raviolis were delicious. We had a refreshing and tasty mojito that I would highly recommend. Also the rolls are amazing. I say the ambiance was enjoyable since we had the indoor part of The Oak restaurant to our selves due too everyone requesting to eat outdoors to enjoy the beautiful view and weather. Me and my husband are locals so we preferred to enjoy the beautiful view from indoors and stay cool. Everyone was super attentive and polite. Thanks to our server Favi for an outstanding dedication to her work.
This was our first visit to the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. What a fabulous place! The Oak Kitchen offers a sublime outdoor dining experience. Your view is of a beautiful tree-lined golf course, ringed by mountains that turn varying shades of pink and purple as the sun sets. It is absolutely gorgeous.
My wife and I both noted how attentive, informed, well-trained, and downright happy the staff seemed. They were all friendly without being cloying, and made suggestions and shared their own favorites in a really helpful and appropriate manner. Our server, Ally, was remarkable - she clearly loved working their and conveyed the enthusiasm she felt for being connected with such a beautiful inn.
The food was outstanding - fresh, local, creative, and delicious. It was all beautifully presented. We did not delve into the wine list; each of us just had a glass, but I'm sure an oenophile would be happy too.
All in all, a truly fantastic dining experience. We will be back.
Food was exceptionally fresh and quite delicious. Fernando was a wonderful waitperson, very attentive and kind. When we were first seated, the fan in the small building (kitchen?) was very loud and when we said something, the staff immediately offered to turn it off and did so quickly and kindly. Outdoor setting is spectacular. We loved the experience!
Great place to go for a relaxing brunch with great scenery and high quality and good tasting food to meet any diet which buffets don't usually have. It wasn't overcrowded and you could hear the table conversation easily. Very accommodating and kid friendly and the bluegrass music was really nice and a great addition and not too loud. We are local, but felt as though we were on vacation. We will definitely return!
This is the first time we have eaten Sunday brunch here and we were very happy. The mimosas flowed freely and the buffet was excellent, particularly the seafood. It was a perfect way to spend a Sunday morning/afternoon eating lovely food in a lovely setting with lovely live music.
I took my Mom who is 90 and everyone was wonderful. It was a bit of a feat to get a cart to drive us to the Oaks and in through Jimmys and up to the Oaks Restaurant. The website is terrible and it took 30 minutes to find the restaurant choices and the menus and then the menu never stated that we could only do the Bluegrass Brunch. But Mom and I tucked in to the buffet and it was well worth the price!!
Our family took my wife to Mother's Day brunch. There are two brunches on premise. We didn't know about the other brunch from the website we used which is open table. No matter we received an excellent brunch with excellent service. Our reservation was for 1 and we were sat by 1:30. Previous guests took longer than calculated. No matter. Food an music was very good.
