The North Fork Table & Inn Ratings and Reviews
Delicious, creative food. On our most recent visit, we enjoyed the tuna tartare appetizer with taro chips, seared scallops, rack of lamb, and Claudia's delicious sugar and spice doughnuts. The restaurant consists of two relatively small rooms, and is quiet and comfortable.
There was an extremely noisy/obnoxious table of six in our dining room which spoiled the first 75% of our evening (and everyone else seated there). I wish the manager could have asked them to lower their voices - but it seemed that there wasn't any type of manager on the premises.
The service was very weak. We were never asked if we wanted a second drink until we were almost done with our meal. The servers need more training and a manager should be passing through the dining room periodically.
The food was wonderful!
I have been to this restaurant several times, in fact we always have it on our list when we visit the North Fork. It is far and away the best restaurant we have visited on Long Island and it rates well with any of the highly rated restaurants we visit in NYC. Food is always excellent as is the service. Each time I return I am excited to be reminded why I love the place so much. Anyone looking for a high quality fine dining experience would be well served to give this restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed.
Dined at the north fork table and inn for our anniversary the other evening. great service beautiful venue good wine selection delicious appetizers, then the main course arrived and we were so taken aback at the minuscule portions. For entree prices in the $40 range, we both expected more. 4 dime sized scallops does not a meal make, and we left, after paying a bill of over $200, so hungry and dissatisfied. On the way home we actually stopped for pizza at Michaelangelos down the road. I'm sorry North Fork Table and Inn, but you will never see us again.
I've never written a review here but wanted to share my disappointing experience at North Fork Table & Inn. My husband and I had been looking forward to going there for years and saved it for the last night of our long weekend getaway on the North Fork, so our expectations were high. We were anticipating a real dining experience. What we got was just another fine restaurant meal, which was delicious, but nothing too special. Maybe that's because we didn't do the tasting menu. I ordered a la carte (the gazpacho was a bit bitter; lamb and chocolate torte were excellent), and my husband got the 3-course pri fixe (which ended up being a little more expensive than if he'd ordered the items a la carte, so watch out for that). The real disappointment of the meal was the service. Our waitress was prompt, and did and said all the right things, but was unenthusiastic, and seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else. I'm not sure what might have been going on in her personal life, maybe she was tired at the end of a long weekend and a busy summer, but it felt like she was just going through the motions. In every interaction she seemed a little annoyed with a tinge of an eye roll. She didn't introduce herself or the restaurant. She didn't walk us through the menu items or ingredients. We asked for her favorite dishes and she rattled off a list without any explanations or descriptions. Maybe the staff there are instructed not to chitchat or dilly-dally, but if I'm paying $45 for lamb, I want to hear what's so special about it and also have time to savor it. Our starters came within minutes of ordering them - no time to settle in and enjoy each other's company and wine. Our entrees probably would have been just as quick, but I bought us some time in-between courses by telling the bus staff over and over again that I wasn't done with my starter yet. Overall, I would say the restaurant offers a good meal but an underwhelming experience, at least if you don't get the tasting menu.
So many friends had recommended North Fork Table and Inn that we thought our high expectations might wind up leading to disappointment. Not the case! The food and service are top notch and we thoroughly enjoyed every course of the tasting menu with wine pairing. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful, not pretentious. Definitely worth it!
This was our third time eating here and again, the food and service did not fail. However, I found it peculiar why we were seated in the back room. It appeared that they sat people back there that were under dressed (in shorts). We were not! I felt like the riffraff.
My friend and I have been looking to try the NFTI for many years. We've enjoyed their food truck many times. Finally had dinner and truly enjoyed the 3 course price fix with the added wine tasting. It was a spectacular dinner and the atmosphere was special yet very comfortable. Similar to other reviews the staff needs a bit more training and attention to detail at these prices. But an exceptional dining experience.
celebrated our anniversary on the North Fork for the weekend with dinner Sat night at North Fork Table & Inn. great ambiance, great service and great food. we started with drinks at the bar while table was getting ready. once we sat, appetizers ordered were the cheese plate and half dozen oysters. for dinner we ordered the braised pork and the duck. both were great and good sized portion. opted against dessert and only got coffee. i don't remember our waiter's name but he was great.
It had been several years since the last time I was here and at the time it had a perfect Zagat rating. How the mighty have fallen. Appetizers we're fine, but nothing special. Main course of scallops were fine, but truffle cavatelli was decent at best. Dessert on the other hand was awesome. Bottom line was I might be a little hard because this was was a real favorite and at their prices decent doesn't cut it.
