We have celebrated several special occasions at the North Fork Table & Inn and we were very happy with dinner on this night. The food which included a beautiful beet salad called the Whole Beet was both pretty to look at and delicious! We also had duck breast and beef striploin which were excellent. For dessert, the gingerbread cake was seasonal and wonderful. The service was also excellent - our server, Emma, was attentive and friendly. The whole experience was very pleasant; it’s a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion.

Such a pretty cozy spot in Southold. Ingredients are all thoughtfully sourced and everything is impeccably done. Service was excellent. The only reason it’s not a perfect review is because I am vegetarian / dairy free and there was very little I could eat on the menu.

We had another wonderful meal New Years Eve. The food was amazing. The strip loin and Channel Bass were tasty and came out nice and hot. As starters we had the Whole Beet and potato leek soup. Both good but the soup could have been alittle hotter for me. But still enjoyed. Always get the bread which is so good. The place never disappoints.

Very pretty restaurant, we were given a corner table. Good drinks, friendly waiter. Appetizers came & when they cleared our plates, they cleared the bread and butter plates too. When our meal was served, we asked the waiter for more bread. Bread plates were delivered but the bread & butter never did. On top of that, we couldn't seem to get our water glasses refilled. Someone was walking around with a pitcher, never came to us. I asked the hostess, no luck. Finally the waiter came to check on us. He was mortified that we never got the bread (which at that point , our food was finished) & he found someone to give us water.
So, while we enjoyed our food, there was somehow a disconnect with the service, which I found quite surprising. A gentleman was walking around visiting tables but never stopped at our table of 4. I think the corner table may have been the issue?

For a weekday night was well attended, service was great.
The roast duck was extremely salty, the portion was very adequate.
the fish dish was very bland and quite pricey with unremarkable garnish.

Very disappointed.

North Fork Table has maintained an exceptionally high standard of cuisine and service through the many years that I have been dining there. Everything about this last visit was in line with that dedication to perfection. A superb new menu - in particular a glorious variation of bay scallops in an Asian flavoured broth that left me craving more - and its always interesting wine list combined to make this once again an outstanding way to spend an evening in Southold.

I have read some of the negative reviews - few though they are - with absolute puzzlement. I have never had anything less than a superb experience in my countless visits to this restaurant.

The food and wine list are a notch above everything else in the area, with a focus on sourcing from the best local purveyors. Then comes dessert, which is just out of this world.

First time Dining and my wife and I would definitely return. We had ala cart menu and started with the chesse platter and risotto balls. Both were amazing with a bottle of wine. For dinner, we both had the steak, which was delicious and cut like butter. The deserts were also delicious. Overall, a terrific evening and it appears you can bring your own wine if you prefer. Saw other tables with wine from local wineries. Wine list was sufficient and favored local ones.

We had reserved this place for a quiet dinner with a dear friend from overseas - Friday eve 830
Quiet time - not too many customers in the dining room

We ordered the risotto as an appetizer and found it for the price over cooked ( almost soggy and soup like) - appetizer portion $28 - for that price we expected much better

My friend ordered the Duck breast cooked “ RARE” and it came over cooked -had to send back for another duck cooked properly as ordered

I ordered the Tuna Tartare as an appetizer and it was rather unremarkable - just a cube of chopped Tuna in some seasonings - no avocado or other flavors that usually accompany a tartare dish

My steak was fine and cooked as ordered -
The mashed potatoes were mushy and soft

The service was adequate and polite but waiter was hard to find after the meal was served

When we received the overcooked duck my guest had to get
Up and look for our server to get his attention to get the duck replaced

The ambiance is warm and cozy
The food for the quality was overpriced and under performed

Disappointing from a meal quality value point of view

I had made the reservation for my 25th Wedding Anniversary while on the North Fork for the weekend. My wife and I and 2 guests arrived at 7:20 for a 7:30 reservation and waited over 15 minutes for a table while there were multiple tables open. Inexperienced hostesses did not communicate with us as we waited at the entrance getting a cold chill every time the door opened. Once we were seated, we waited and waited and waited, likely 10 minutes for someone to approach the table and welcome us and offer service. A wonderful server came to the table and acknowledged our anniversary with champagne (very nice), but then handed it over to his partner, Glen, who was overwhelmed and inattentive. Our conclusion was that the restaurant was understaffed as we waited long periods of time before we received bread (only after request) and then ordered our meals and then received our food, and after all that, the food was just ok. I was originally disappointed that the Inn was sold out because I thought we wanted to stay there but now I'm glad we didn't. Shame on you, North Fork table and Inn.

This was our second time at this restaurant and both times we found the execution to be poor. Last time, we waited 40 minutes to be seated for our reservation and this time, though they sat us only a few minutes past our reservation time, we were seated in what is effectively a passageway between the two main dining rooms. Our disappointment continued when our foie gras appetizers arrived cold. When I raised this issue with our waitress she proceeded to explain that the foie gras was seared so it might not be hot all the way through (I've had seared foie gras many times and, while it might not be served piping hot it's certainly not supposed to be COLD) - and then simply said she was sorry we weren't pleased. At $28 a pop for an appetizer that came to the table cold, I would have thought there would at least be a glass of wine or dessert on the house. The rest of the meal was fine but nothing to rave about. After two disappointing outings, we won't be coming back the next time we are visiting he North Fork from Manhattan.

Great...as usual. Sets the bar high for all Long Island. Stephan is finally making the menu his own. All was great, but Peconic scallops with wild mushrooms in broth was beyond. And Claudia’s doughnuts, what can I say?

Romantic anniversary date night. Excellent service truly complimented the outstanding food. An incredible evening starting with the hazelnut soup and risotto fritters. For entrees the duck confit and pork belly and to finish a delicious Napoleon. From the food to drink to ambience, we enjoyed every aspect of our dinner experience.

Hard rock soundtrack was hardly conducive to elegant dining. Dining room was elegant but dim, and got darker as the evening progressed, promoting drowsiness. Wait staff was rather clueless. However, ingredients were top notch, and the preparations and presentation were imaginative. Wine pairing were also imaginative and, although, they did not work for me, I realize that this is just a matter of taste.

We attended on a Sunday evening in late October so the restaurant was not crowded and the staffing level was spot on. We enjoyed a glass of complimentary champagne to start with. The appetizers and main course were both excellent and we finished with delicious desserts. Will visit again as our travels allow.

Wow. Just wow.

On Saturday night, North Fork Table & Inn surpassed Union Square Cafe as my favorite meal of the year.

Great traditional cocktails.

Possibly the best rack of lamb I’ve ever had (lavender spiced), incredible Sea scallops, followed by Claudia Fleming’s amazing phyllo Napoleon, all served by Ema, the perfect server.

Damn.

Everything was delicious. Fois gras and raw tuna seemed like an odd combination but it worked beautifully. Glad we got the truffled pasta as an appetizer. A full plate of that would have been too much. The steak and duck were both excellent. Dessert was the best course. Service was friendly yet professional. I can see why this restaurant is considered one of the best on the North Fork.

Sadly, we had a horrible experience on 10/14. Not only did we wait almost 30 mins to be seated but then proceeded to wait 25 mins to be served water and the restaurant was very warm. We kept getting an "apology" from the waiter but no actual service. While our appetizers came in somewhat of a timely manner, it took over 30 mins for our entrees to arrive (neither one of which needed an extraordinary long time to cook). My steak was luke warm at best and my husband's fish, while spicy, was unremarkable. We had come into the restaurant with very high expectations given recommendations from friends but we were sorely disappointed.
