The North End Barbeque and Moonshine
Excellent server and delicious food.
We sat outside and our server was the bartender. She was a good server, though they seemed a bit understaffed. The food was very good. Their pulled pork sandwich was delicious, and the fries are outstanding, though very rich. My date enjoyed the Frosé enough for me to try to reverse engineer it. Their whiskey selection is top notch. I’d recommend for great BBQ and solid casual dining.
Food is to expensive for mediocre service. Ice water refill, no ice and stuff floating in the pitcher. Ice tea... had to ask for lemon, had to ask for a sugar caddy. No refil. I consider myself a regular and I tip at 25% no matter what. Looks like you've had employee turnover.
Server was either bad or overwhelmed. Food came out way late. she asked us for desert order before food came out. other than that. pretty good. best bbq in the city
Air-conditioning was not working which was unfortunate as it was during heat wave. Probably would have went elsewhere had we been told at the door. Quite uncomfortable.
We were sat in the bar area at a table and the bartender was trying to cover our table as well as keeping up with bar. Because of that, service was very lacking. Bartenders just can't cover both, especially on a busy Saturday night.
Food was very good.
Air conditioning out was 82 inside other than that everything was very good. Problem was we recommended to 3 other couples and that was their first time.
Delicious BBQ food. Pulled pork platter with 2 sides for $14 is a steal. Had enough food/leftovers for 2 meals!
Good BBQ, food and drinks. I prefer beef brisket form the point of the brisket and not the flat. It is very most and fatty. I am surprised how many BBQ establishments do not offer this selection. Equally surprised that the wait staff is generally unaware of the difference.
The North End continues to be a favorite restaurant since it opened. It is our go to for outings with family and friends. Ellen is our favorite server.
The meat, chicken and ribs, were bland and had no smoke flavor. The fried fish was salty and mushy. My 6 yr old didn't even like the mac and cheese! I will never be back!
Would return, good experience. Food was very good, server was nice.
Love it! Good food, good service, good atmosphere.
We were in on a Saturday evening around 8:00 pm. It was busy, but not overly busy. We waited approximately an hour and 15 minutes for our food. The pulled pork was so fatty, I asked to have it replaced. The turkey breast looked like deli meat. Very pricey and nothing special.
WE CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK! For a southern girl, BBQ is in my blood. The food was delicious and the service was amazing.
Awesome server and awesome food!
6PM on a Friday night. We walked in and found the host stand occupied by 3 hostesses and 1 server who was the one to greet us because the hostesses were too busy giggling about something, his greeting "Just two?". I asked Mr. Server if there should be more of us and he wandered off...
We were quickly seated and greeted by our server within a minute or two. Our server was funny, engaging and extremely knowledgeable of both the food and their extensive collections of whiskey. As a matter of fact, I thought he was one of the top servers we had ever encountered until 1) He became overwhelmed with 5 tables including a party of 7 and 2) We overheard him telling every other table he had the same stories and same jokes the same way..... It should be noted that the other servers on the floor had far fewer guests and this is obviously a failure of the host desk and ultimately management, whom we never saw.
To start my wife had their 'spicy' mule which was one of the best cocktails either of us had ever had. We ordered the onion rings which were too salty and greasy. The BBQ was above average....for Indy which doesn't say much. The chopped brisket was excellent with a good balance of fat / lean while the slices were bone dry as soon as they hit the table. The spareribs were excellent pieces of meat with almost zero flavor of seasoning or smoke while my wife's baby backs were almost too salty to eat with a pleasant but faint fruitwood smoke flavor. The pulled pork was again lacking in flavor and while the house made sausage was delicious it was far too dry to eat without sauce. Sides ordered included beans (good), fries (good but VERY greasy), mac 'n cheese (quite good) and cornbread (very dry).
I'm glad we went, been on our list of places to try for a while but not worth a return.
love this place! We will definitely come back! We try a different each time. We have never been displeased.
Business lunch. I usually suggest this place for meeting in the area. Not too loud. Great BBQ salmon.
The food and service both were excellent. Very impressed, since we had a party of 7 at a late hour on Mother’s Day - after they had been swamped all day. We actually closed down the place without feeling hurried or hassled. We will return.
Absolutely one of my top favorite restaurants. Best bbq ever. I have never had anything there that wasn't simply amazing.
Will plan on going back soon
While the food was good and plentiful, service could have been better. Drinks became empty on several occasions and our server was nowhere to be found.
Bar was great , food was awesome and the service was very timely
We decided to dine at North End because it’s part of the ownership of Late Harvest. I guess because of that I expected more. It’s casual, folksy dining. Be prepared for a menu of meat and carbs with a couple of vegetable options. Some at my table ordered brisket, one a burger and I ordered pulled pork. The friends enjoyed the brisket, the burger patties appeared shrunken and small in comparison to the bun while I found the pork dry. All in all a perfectly fine dining experience but not a repeat.
Wonderful food. Great service
Always great service. Alcoholic beverages are always top notch, no mixes, well made. Food is good. One of our favorite spots.
We were pleasantly surprised! Food was great and there were even healthy choices! Great service.
Usually an excellent experience but Saturday left 6 regular customers wondering if we would return. Server rarely visited table. It took forever to get drinks and water refills were non existent. We were a table of adults willing to pay for more drinks but the size of the pour was awful. We had to go to the bar for refills because server didn’t attend to table.
Food was cold upon delivery but went ahead and ate because we wanted forever for the food.
Not sure if GM changed or what but this was a poorly run restaurant Saturday evening.
4 of us went Sat night 4/13/19 we were seated outside on the heated enclosed patio. (nice) I was pleasantly surprised they had Fresh Char Grilled Oysters with garlic/parmesan chili oil and WOW were they good. I had the St Louis cut spare ribs and they were great not fall off the bone but bite through with mild smoke flavor. My wife had the Brisket as did one of our friends I sampled some and it was very good. The side dishes were also top notch, the wait staff were spot on and attentive.
Reasonably priced and GOOD Q. The whiskey selection is also great
We will be back for sure
Waiter was trying to hurry us. We told him it was my husbands bday twice and he didn’t do anything. Plus, we put that in our reservation.
Great restaurant. We love the drink called easy lover. Love the atmosphere. Drinks were a little slow getting to us but all in all great experience.
It had been awhile since visiting. Great service, our food choices were great. BBQ salmon and the special, which were pork bellies. Great drinks from the bar!
Once again, a lovely dinner at North End. Bar seating works best for us when the outdoor area isn’t available. My go-to meal is the chopped salad with brisket added on....and a side of the best collards I’ve ever had. Noise in the bar is somewhat high, but doesn’t detract from an enjoyable night. Great cocktails.
Food was delicious and came out fast! As a team the service was great! Our server was scarce and never introduced herself.
Brisket has been dry the last couple of times and today was no different. Out of the first 3 bourbons that I asked for. Drinks took a longer time than expect to arrive once ordered.
Dinner was good. We really enjoyed all the food that we ordered. The drinks are a tad over priced however they were very good. Guess you can say you get what you pay for.
Overall we were happy with the North End BBQ.
I love North Side BBQ. I go there probably 4-6x/year, and typically sit either at or in the bar. Last week, I sat in the dining room and drew the short straw with a table against the far west wall. Don't get me wrong, I still love NSBBQ, I just don't love that table. The service was outstanding! Harry recommended a new whiskey, so of course I obliged. It was delicious, as expected. The food was really good (I don't love the green beans/zucchini mix). I met my cousin and her husband there for their rookie visit. They loved it to and will be back. P.S. Best whiskey list in Indy. No joke.
One of my regular haunts when I don’t feel like cooking. I prefer to sit in the bar area and the service is always impeccable. The bartenders are also very knowledgeable and their bourbon selection is top notch.
