The North End at 4580 (fka Restaurant 4580) Ratings and Reviews
My sister and her husband came in from out of town. We ate here in June and it was great. This time 2 of our burgers were raw inside for medium well done burger.
My sisters bun was burnt. When we told the waiter he didn’t apologize or he hadn’t check in on us of how our food was. We actually saw him shrug his shoulders like what would you like me to do about it.
We were going to come here for my niece’s birthday next weekend but changed our mind.
Comfortable old favorite. We had not been here for awhile. Good to go back. Barcelona Calamari as good as ever. Mussels were great. Tried the Cajun cassoulet. Unusual with black-eyed peas and pork belly, but tasty. Cup of gumbo was excellent. Server was friendly and attentive. We'll be back more often.
The overall experience was disappointing to say the least. The food was bland, the service worse. The waitress literally had 12 pens in her pocket but did not write our order down and got it all wrong. Forgot all of the salads and simply said oops. No apology no offer to get the salads just oops. My vegetarian roasted veggie pasta consisted of pasta and two scraps of shredded broccoli; maybe one mushroom was hidden in there. Won't be back.
We came across this restaurant through open table. We were looking for a place to eat in town Boulder but the weekend was busy due to homecoming and so we went to North Boulder which we had never been to before and we got lucky. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We sat in the back dining area which could use a little more ambiance but the food and wine made up for it. I had the scallops, my husband had the risotto with salmon and my son had the steak special. All were so, so good. There was a nice selection of wine from different regions - Italy, France and California.
We will definitely dine there again the next time we’re in town
It's disappointing that we can't really eat out at places where other customers aren't on phones, watching videos with the sound on, giving phones to kids to play games or watch stuff, receiving texts and calls with beeping or ringers on, sound tones going off for calls, or vibrations. Restaurants should have strict policies around this; we dine out 50% less because of this 21st rich white people problem.
The seating is too crowded.
The waitstaff is good 75% of the time and the food is good most of the time.
We probably won't go back much even though we've been pretty loyal since it was opened by Marty and his wife. Though the service improved w new ownership, it seems the clientele devolved and now includes kids almost every time we try to have a quiet night out.
The noise levels are worse w kids and with more and more inconsiderate humans that talk way too loudly for dining, it's now no longer enjoyable. It saddens us that the dining experience has devolved. We used to enjoy the quiet adult setting and more spacious seating arrangements.
Let us know if new policies or changes occur, we'll try again but we've had poor quality experiences the last 3 times and would rather go for a guaranteed excellent experience at black cat, arugula, or one of the few places that still has a higher class clientele that's respectful of others.
Parents w kids should go to places kids enjoy vs forcing them to have a boring adult experience that makes everyone else's experience miserable, loud, and uncomfortable.
Lots of parents rarely get a quiet night out together so it seems other parents would understand that taking their kids to a more romantic, elegant and fine dining restaurant would be bad form.
Maybe owners will want to reclaim their restaurants as a sacred space for connection, real conversation and fun without electronics or rude humans present. We'll see.
Super evening out for a family dinner. The food was great and the wine selection excellent and reasonably priced. It is lively and energetic so we didn't have to worry about our energy level being there with all of our adult kids. The service was attentive and always timely. Would definately recommend.
We were in town to visit our student at CU and decided to try The North End. The menu and pictures online looked promising and the mobile link I looked at said happy hour all day on Sundays. We were a little early for our reservation but were seated right away as it wasn't very busy. When the waiter asked about drinks I inquired about the happy hour and he said that was only for the bar area. Seriously?! So I could walk the 20 feet to the bar and order a drink at happy hour prices but couldn't order the same at our table? Plus the website did not specify the bar only. My husband ordered grilled calamari as an appetizer but when it came to the table there was nothing grilled about it. He ate it and said it tasted ok but would have been much better had it actually been grilled. On the recommendation of the waiter I ordered the lobster mac and cheese. I went to take the first bite and the "cheesy sauce" was the consistency of milk. I asked the waiter if that is how it's supposed to be and he said, "It's a cream based sauce but it looks like they just didn't reduce it enough. It's really good though" and walked away. On that note, I decided to give it a try in spite of the runny sauce. The lobster was nice and fresh, but the dish was overly salted and I just couldn't get past the runny sauce. At the table next to us, two people ordered a blackened fish dish and both sent it back because the fish came out undercooked and there wasn't a trace of anything blackened about it. Our younger daughter had the pasta with butter...how do you mess that up? The butter had that sitting out on the counter too long kind of taste. The fries were good and my husband enjoyed his burger. For the poor quality of food it is way overpriced. We won't be going back next time we're in town.
Well, James outdid himself. I am an old friend. Just put on my reservation that I was bringing a large party and he put us in his private dining area. We had the best time. My friends and I were able to visit and laugh and tell stories. We didn't feel rushed
and everyone enjoyed the drinks, appetizers and their entrees. The North End has become a gem in North Boulder. The chef is imaginative (the special was a pork ribeye- who knew?). Run to this place. It's special.
My husband and I went this past weekend for dinner and our tastebuds were BLOWN AWAY!!!! Highly, highly recommend!!! Having a gluten allergy it’s so hard to find things that already come made gluten free and that are delicious 😋 This place was above and beyond our expectations! We are already planning visit #2!!!
Some of our favorites:
-bacon wrapped dates stuffed w/ chorizo
-crispy pork belly lettuce wraps
-creole shrimp & grits
-frites w/ truffle oil
-flourless chocolate torte
My wife and I have frequented Restaurant 4580 on numerous occasions, though we haven't submitted an OpenTable review for a while. We go there because we know the food will be nicely prepared and the service is excellent. 4580 is not a foodie place, nor should it be. It has a good basic menu, prepared with fresh ingredients and you never feel rushed to finish your meal. This time, my wife had the salmon which she found a bit undercooked, but the potatoes and surrounding vegetables were fine. I had the lamb chops which were about what I expected, and the sauce on the plate was quite good. My wife had apple pie ala mode, which she said was excellent - just like home made. I had a chocolate sundae - always a good ending. I had a couple glasses of Tempranillo and my wife had one of their special cocktails - all good. We continue to recommend 4580 for a comfortable, reliable and reasonably-priced meal.
Looking for a great spot to dine outside and bring your dog - this is it! Had a lovely dinner with family on the patio. Perfect temperature on an August evening. Staff was super friendly and dog-loving. The food was delicious too! Good drinks and really enjoyed the main entreés. Plus they brought a bowl of water for my mother's German Shepard. We will definitely be back for another visit.
This place has an outdoor patio that can be reserved. Very helpful if you have a dog with you. Food was unique, well prepared and fast. The Bison short ribs were an excellent comfort food dish, and the vegetarian pasta was unique with crumbled veggie burger, both my wife and daughter enjoyed that.
Last-minute reservation for dinner with friends, decided to try someplace none of us had been. Very happy we did! Food, ambiance, drinks, service, all outstanding. Creative menu and drink choices, everything we ordered was delicious. Great gluten-free options, not just afterthoughts like some restaurants. Everything was perfect. And the flourless chocolate torte was the best chocolate dessert I've ever had. Will be going back for sure!
The lamb chops ($28) were leathery and chewy. They were supposed to be grilled . The Shrimp dish was too salty. Overall the description sounded good, I have had grilled lamb chops at different restaurants and they are always seasoned and the meat comes off easily, here the meat was in combat with the knife.
Disappointed in the experience.
