Trout appetizer was well done
Entrees were nicely presented and flavors were
Bread pudding was out of this world
As always, the service and the food were great. James welcomed us and was obviously glad to see us. We were with another couple. They liked the place very much.
Always a fantastic time at this restaurant! Wait staff is very good and the food is always delicious! Our true "go-to" restaurant.
Always good. Love the Lobster mac'n'cheese. Nice creative wine list. The owner is always friendly and helpful with wine selections.
Salmon added to tricolor beet salad- DELICIOUS! friend lunch on a snowy day- it was very quiet in the restaurant- hope business is normally better because this place was great!
This is our neighborhood eatery. Excellent food and service. Great atmosphere.
Great Place for a variety of food and good wine selection
You could order anything on the menu and it will be great
Food was so so.
James has done a great job up keeping the menu up to date. The duck and my veggie pasta were doe to perfection and the chocolate bread pudding is to die for with a portion good for at least 2. Wine were good as well as the cocktails and priced accordingly. Great spot for dinner or tapas ( smaller portions). Great place to dine in North Boulder
Our group had a very nice evening at 4580. Food was tasty, the room was quiet, which is becoming more difficult in Boulder. Starters were a bit small for the price, but tasty.
Great burger on a gluten free bun. Great risotto! Great scallops. Been there many times and always enjoy it.
Went for the pre fix Valentines Day dinner with my fiance. Price was fair, but my pot pie was cold and server wasn't very responsive. Overall, it was an OK place, but since I don't live near it I probably wouldn't go there again.
mediocre food and service
Food is very good. I was a bit disappointed in the fact that when seated we were placed on the bench table ( one chair and a shared bench seat), my husband asked if we could sit by a window (just another table with 2 chairs would have worked) They told us (this was at 5:30) that they were reserved. (there were tow open window seats) at 6:40 a couple was seated at one of the tables, leaving one still open. We had completed our meal and left.
The service was good, they were very friendly. We were sat next to a very loud table even though the dining room was empty. I couldn’t hear my wife speaking. We moved tables and the bacon wrapped dates were very good. My wife ordered the crispy duck and it came soggy, I had the special which was steak and a poached lobster tail. When it arrived the lobster was cut into tiny pieces and piled on top of flavorless strips of steak. It tasted like it had been left out on a counter all day. I commented about the fact that they described the special as a lobster tail and then brought me claw meat. After sending both dishes back mine was brought out with the explanation that it was tail and claw meat. They brought out another duck breast and while it was crispy this time it was a salt bomb. Neither of us were able to eat the meals, so we asked for the check and left. We will not be back. It was very disappointing.
Our dining experience here at North End at 4580 was perfect for a family get together! Our server was so efficient, knowledgeable and so patient, especially with my two grandchildren. Entrees were perfectly prepared, the menu has great choices to that meet all food preferences. My grandson has life threatening food allergies and the kitchen met his needs with a "thumbs up" from him! The tuna was especially enjoyed by my son as was the dinner pasta special, by my daughter-in-law! We are frequent diners at this restaurant and always leave, later, with very happy stomachs and smiles!
This place is very good! Some time back they transformed it and it is an entirely different restaurant, both in the layout, and the menu. The food is elegantly prepared with caring. Everything we had was enjoyed.
We were there for Xmas Eve dinner and were disappointed. Having been to The North End at 4580 several times before and had very good meals, my expectation was for another good one. But this time the food was just mediocre. We won't be going back any time soon.
Six of us had dinner here after the CU holiday show. The service was very attentive and took care in getting some special requests correct. The drinks were delicious as was the food. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
Just returned to 4580 after several years away and were pleasantly surprised by the great food and service. A great option on the north side of the city and James, your host, runs a well operated venue
My sister and her husband came in from out of town. We ate here in June and it was great. This time 2 of our burgers were raw inside for medium well done burger.
My sisters bun was burnt. When we told the waiter he didn’t apologize or he hadn’t check in on us of how our food was. We actually saw him shrug his shoulders like what would you like me to do about it.
We were going to come here for my niece’s birthday next weekend but changed our mind.
Comfortable old favorite. We had not been here for awhile. Good to go back. Barcelona Calamari as good as ever. Mussels were great. Tried the Cajun cassoulet. Unusual with black-eyed peas and pork belly, but tasty. Cup of gumbo was excellent. Server was friendly and attentive. We'll be back more often.
The overall experience was disappointing to say the least. The food was bland, the service worse. The waitress literally had 12 pens in her pocket but did not write our order down and got it all wrong. Forgot all of the salads and simply said oops. No apology no offer to get the salads just oops. My vegetarian roasted veggie pasta consisted of pasta and two scraps of shredded broccoli; maybe one mushroom was hidden in there. Won't be back.
Fantastic restaurant overall. Great food & service, and has served as our "go to" restaurant for years.
Since we live nearby, we often go to this restaurant. For us, it provides what we are looking for on our night out, really good food, great service, a good wine list with wine served at the proper temperature and a nice ambiance.
Bacon wrapped dates and fried burratta are fantastic, pork belly small plate was delicious but the black-eye peas were undercooked. Oddly enough, they didn't have any bottled still water.
Great service and food. First Bite didn’t disappoint with the menu!
Outstanding food, impeccable service per usual. Cool new items on the menu along with first bite weekend.
We wanted to take our daughter, who was visiting from Gunnison out for dinner on Saturday night during 1st Bite Boulder. This was the only one that sounded like a good menu for us that we could get into at a reasonable hour.
The menu for First Bite Boulder was delicious: lots of great food and options for everyone.
We came across this restaurant through open table. We were looking for a place to eat in town Boulder but the weekend was busy due to homecoming and so we went to North Boulder which we had never been to before and we got lucky. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We sat in the back dining area which could use a little more ambiance but the food and wine made up for it. I had the scallops, my husband had the risotto with salmon and my son had the steak special. All were so, so good. There was a nice selection of wine from different regions - Italy, France and California.
We will definitely dine there again the next time we’re in town
It's disappointing that we can't really eat out at places where other customers aren't on phones, watching videos with the sound on, giving phones to kids to play games or watch stuff, receiving texts and calls with beeping or ringers on, sound tones going off for calls, or vibrations. Restaurants should have strict policies around this; we dine out 50% less because of this 21st rich white people problem.
The seating is too crowded.
The waitstaff is good 75% of the time and the food is good most of the time.
We probably won't go back much even though we've been pretty loyal since it was opened by Marty and his wife. Though the service improved w new ownership, it seems the clientele devolved and now includes kids almost every time we try to have a quiet night out.
The noise levels are worse w kids and with more and more inconsiderate humans that talk way too loudly for dining, it's now no longer enjoyable. It saddens us that the dining experience has devolved. We used to enjoy the quiet adult setting and more spacious seating arrangements.
Let us know if new policies or changes occur, we'll try again but we've had poor quality experiences the last 3 times and would rather go for a guaranteed excellent experience at black cat, arugula, or one of the few places that still has a higher class clientele that's respectful of others.
Parents w kids should go to places kids enjoy vs forcing them to have a boring adult experience that makes everyone else's experience miserable, loud, and uncomfortable.
Lots of parents rarely get a quiet night out together so it seems other parents would understand that taking their kids to a more romantic, elegant and fine dining restaurant would be bad form.
Maybe owners will want to reclaim their restaurants as a sacred space for connection, real conversation and fun without electronics or rude humans present. We'll see.
Wonderful spot - north Boulder - good food and service. Would recommend for lunch.
Super evening out for a family dinner. The food was great and the wine selection excellent and reasonably priced. It is lively and energetic so we didn't have to worry about our energy level being there with all of our adult kids. The service was attentive and always timely. Would definately recommend.
The food was good, our server was good, but the noise level in the main dining room was very high. I had requested a quiet table...it was anything but.
We were in town to visit our student at CU and decided to try The North End. The menu and pictures online looked promising and the mobile link I looked at said happy hour all day on Sundays. We were a little early for our reservation but were seated right away as it wasn't very busy. When the waiter asked about drinks I inquired about the happy hour and he said that was only for the bar area. Seriously?! So I could walk the 20 feet to the bar and order a drink at happy hour prices but couldn't order the same at our table? Plus the website did not specify the bar only. My husband ordered grilled calamari as an appetizer but when it came to the table there was nothing grilled about it. He ate it and said it tasted ok but would have been much better had it actually been grilled. On the recommendation of the waiter I ordered the lobster mac and cheese. I went to take the first bite and the "cheesy sauce" was the consistency of milk. I asked the waiter if that is how it's supposed to be and he said, "It's a cream based sauce but it looks like they just didn't reduce it enough. It's really good though" and walked away. On that note, I decided to give it a try in spite of the runny sauce. The lobster was nice and fresh, but the dish was overly salted and I just couldn't get past the runny sauce. At the table next to us, two people ordered a blackened fish dish and both sent it back because the fish came out undercooked and there wasn't a trace of anything blackened about it. Our younger daughter had the pasta with butter...how do you mess that up? The butter had that sitting out on the counter too long kind of taste. The fries were good and my husband enjoyed his burger. For the poor quality of food it is way overpriced. We won't be going back next time we're in town.
Exceptional service and cuisine, per usual. Thank you
Well, James outdid himself. I am an old friend. Just put on my reservation that I was bringing a large party and he put us in his private dining area. We had the best time. My friends and I were able to visit and laugh and tell stories. We didn't feel rushed
and everyone enjoyed the drinks, appetizers and their entrees. The North End has become a gem in North Boulder. The chef is imaginative (the special was a pork ribeye- who knew?). Run to this place. It's special.
Excellent service. Good food, but the cookie for dessert took WAY too long.
