This is a great place to eat. I will definitely be back.!
The host is very friendly and accommodating
The Emilys are amazing! Thanks for a great dinner.
Excellent restaurant, all participants enjoyed their meals
Second time this week and was not disappointed! Thanks again for the great service Emily. Every time I come by it feels like a home away from home. Today I had the linguine but without the shrimp and it was absolutely heavenly. A very unique cream sauce that I would highly recommend trying. I’m also a huge fan on the sparkling rosé. Thanks for a great dinner once again.
Fantastic service by Emily! Everything from my wine (the rosé), soup du jour (pumpkin and coconut cream), the daily special (breaded veal cutlets topped with a delicious caper sauce and served with mashed potatoes, roasted carrots and green beans) and dessert (the maple cheesecake) were to die for! I highly recommended this spot! Management is doing a fantastic job!
Very nice evening celebrating a birthday. Food very good. Would recommend it.
The meal was very good and lived up to expectations. The bar chose our bottle wine and it also was very good. It was our 39th anniversary and would have preferred table seating in a less busy area. However, the restaurant drama was quite entertaining!
We had a wonderful experience dining at The Norsemen. I never write reviews but am compelled to for this experience. We were staying nearby and wanted a nice evening out for dinner. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting, and the staff were very kind and attentive.
We brought our young infant with us and we felt very welcomed by the neighboring tables. Thank you so much to the Norseman staff and owners for making the night out so enjoyable.
We are old patron, from way back, truly we were delightfully surprised at the quality of the food, the presentation and flavours.
We will be back.
The starters were fabulous but the main and dessert were very very disappointed. The lamb had no flavour, and dessert was - well I'm sorry... - boring. I'm not sure I will give it a try again. It's too bad because the place is great.
Great food. Unfortunately the service was terrible, probably worse I’ve ever had. The restaurant was not busy and there were only 2 servers yet we never saw ours unless delivering something. Had to hunt them down ourselves.
Excellent food and good service. Muskoka fine dining in a rustic setting. Highly recommended.
We had been to the Walker Lake Lodge 40 years prior and wanted to see it again now as the Norsemen Restaurant. It was a very nostalgic and romantic way to celebrate our 50th Anniversary.
The food was great and the service was excellent. We were not rushed and felt like they appreciated our patronage.
My wife and I were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. There are not many 'fine dining' choices in the area where our cottage is. We had an excellent meal with friendly and professional service, excellent food and good wine selection. Could not have enjoyed the evening more.
Live music made conversation difficult!! Otherwise a pleasant evening, food good
Thanks for the great food and atmosphere for our anniversary
The live music was nice touch too
I found this restaurant on a google search as some friends were meeting in Huntsville; well we found a gold mine!!! what an incredible restaurant! the food was incredible!!! delicious and well prepared and presented; the staff and owner treated us like they knew us forever; the decor and locale and surroundings...so so beautiful; and the best bathroom I've ever seen in a restaurant!!! Definitely will return and definitely will tell others and recommend this restaurant!!
Left a review on TripAdvisor but, in short, one of our favorite restaurants ANYWHERE. New owners Mallary & her other half are doing a bang up job. Fabulous entrees, always with a twist. Go... you will be so glad you did.
Excellent food with exceptionally friendly staff. We would recommend Norsemen and will be returning!
Sat for one hour, not served. Had reservations. Apologized to repeatedly. Was told they usually only have ten customers Thursday nights... waitress then brought someone elses food to our table and took it away. One waitress and three other staff doing nothing much. Nice paintings hanging inside though but otherwise get your act together. Ended up eating at chucks roadhouse all dressed up for wings at 9 PM lol
The dining room is bright and open. Tables well spaced. Food was delicious and well presented. Guitarist nice touch.
Amazing and friendly staff with a delicious menu! It’s a quaint and cozy restaurant that is perfect for date nights or special occasions. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend it!!
The new owners have done a fabulous job updating the restaurant and the menu. The food was excellent -- we had juicy and tender steak, and fresh fish with delicious lentils -- and everyone sent empty plates back to the kitchen! The hostess, Mallary, was attentive and enthusiastic without being intrusive. There was live piano music playing in the adjoining room, which created a lovely ambiance. I would definitely go back to the Norsemen and would recommend it to friends.
New owners since last August have redecorated which is an improvement, however have taken away the Muskoka eclectic ambiance.
Food is still good but pricey and some of previously unique offerings have been removed. The night we dined the owner/ manager was there with a group of family and friends with two children under two. There was also a guitar player who was far too loud for the size of the room. Both of these seriously distracted from what used to be a quiet romantic environment.
In our minds no longer classifies as fine dining except for the food and drink prices which are both on the high side.
We question whether it is any longer worth the trip to the woods when there are several equally good or better establishments closer to town
Valentine’s Day/birthday dinner. Dining out, sans children, and dressed to the nines is a RARE event. I had high hopes the food would be sensational. It was. And the wine pairing: perfect.
I had the steak and while the meat was great combined with French fries seemed strange. My suggestion would be to offer a baked potato. French fries seem to go more with a hamburger or lower quality food not a higher end meal.
My wife had the fish which only had lentils. The meal seemed incomplete without vegetables.
Overall we enjoyed our visit.
The entire evening was great...the food was excellent, the menu selections are unique, cooked and plated very well. The wine list is varied and affordable with some very nice labels to choose from. Desserts were well worth loosening the belt for. All in all...very enjoyable.
Wonderful food, friendly service, great view! We attended the Limberlost Art Tour and then had dinner at one of our favourite Muskoka restaurants. The Norseman has a good selection of game meat that is always a treat to eat. Their preparation of venison was perfect.
Unexpected first rate restaurant in rustic lodge setting in the middle of lake country, every bit as good as anything in major urban setting. Wonderful and unique dressing for salad nicoise, fresh pasta cooked perfectly al dente, absolutely delicious home made marinara sauce.
My husband said it was one of the best steaks he had ever had!
The Norseman Restaurant was one of the worst restaurants I have ever been too! The restaurant service was extremely slow and was told by the server there was one new chef in the kitchen and it was a Saturday night! When my husband and I finally were served we received undercooked Cornish Hens! The restaurant did apologize and asked us if we wanted anything else on the menu instead so my husband had beef and I had the pasta and unfortunately my pasta was again undercooked. In addition, there was no good view of the lake from inside the restaurant which was requested when the reservation was made which was disappointing as the restaurant calls themselves "a lakeside bistro" and the interior if the restaurant was outdated and smelled musty. The restaurant said also they could not make cappuccino as they ran out of coffee beans for the machine. I will definitely not be returning to this so called "fine dining" restaurant.
We have eaten at the Norseman a number of times especially when we want a great meal and a lovely setting. The restaurant has never disappointed us and the chef they have now is truly talented and the service we received was very good. If you are in or travelling through the Huntsville area I would highly recommend The Norseman.
Great little restaurant in a wooded area. Beautiful scenery, wish we came during the summer when their patio is open
Amazing!! Will definitely dine there again!!
Very good menu. The only restaurant in Huntsville (that we could find) that served game meat (venison). Barramundi (Australian fish) was also excellent.
We have dined several times, but on this occasion we were extremely disappointed with the entire experience. Slow service and unco operative staff and management.
They had zero interest in satisfying our requests and we actually decided to leave, and to go somewhere where our business was appreciated! It was early evening and not at all busy, so no excuses!
Delicious food from an interesting menu- something for everyone. Exceptional and attentive service from our server who has been there for over 14 years. Would definitely recommend.
My buddy and I were in Muskoka for the weekend to play some golf. I was looking for something nice for our first dinner. The reviews were mixed. It's in a remote place, but has a beautiful lakeside setting. It was quiet. The service was great. Very unique menu and the food was good. Would definitely recommend.
The ambiance is wonderful, an old lodge with a centre fireplace that radiates heat even on the coldest of nights. The ceasar was very tasty, shrimp cocktail was tastier than most, the roast beef came with Yorkshire pudding and delicious gravy to dip in and a good variety of vegetables all followed by creme brûlée that was a beautiful finishing touch to a lovely dinner.
Service was very good and the price was reasonable for the quality of food.
We brought my boyfriend's mom here for her birthday as the restaurant was recommended by some good friends - we were told the food was good. The food was good…the rest of the experience was meh.
First, upon entering, there was no maitre d or hostess at the front to greet us. None of the wait staff acknowledged our group. I had to grab the attention of a gentleman behind the bar to get us seated.
Once we were seated, our waitress was a bit over the top. She spoke to us like we were in kindergarten. Notably looked frazzled and got my boyfriend's drink order wrong twice.
The meal took a long time to get served. All the wait staff were apologetic for the wait and offered more bread.
The whole experience felt unorganized. At most establishments, there is one server assigned to a group of tables. We had at least three different servers come and ask us the same question and also had the bill brought to us on several occasions when it already had been paid. :S
As an aside - I felt bad for the table seated behind us. A group of 15 to 20. They had arrived before us and were just getting their apps served and we had already finished our mains.
I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt and attribute this experience to having the regular trained wait staff being gone due to summer's end. The food was good, but the service was not great. We were expecting a great experience and it really wasn't…it was disappointing especially because we decided to celebrate a birthday here.
