The Nickel - Hotel Teatro

Setting and service were good. But the food was just ok. Asparagus salad terrific, but then the rest was bland.
It took 15 minutes to get a cup of coffee and nearly 40 minutes for our food after ordering. We were told the food was being plated and when it arrived the food was cold. So disappointed as I was looking forward to brunch there. We wont be back.
Great menu and delicious food and drink. We love eating and drinking at the Nickel.
We've been to The Nickel several times, usually when we have theater tickets. The Nickel never disappoints. The menu is unique, using locally sourced ingredients, and is always satisfying. The service is impeccable (Jameson, this time around). I cannot recommended The Nickel enough.
45th anniversary dinner pre theater. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Mo was a great server. Highly recommend.
Loved building our own charcuterie board and the sweet potato chili was delicious! Service was great and we'll go back again. Only four stars for value because the wine was overpriced.
Wonderful Mother’s Day brunch with photos included. It was awesome!
Limited but diverse brunch menu. Food & service excellent. Deco rustic and clever. Pastries tasty. Pricing good. Highly recommend.
I am hesitant to recommend The Nickel. It was the perfect location and light meal that we needed. The food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. A very limited menu that is pricey. It was odd not to offer any Mother's Day specials. The sunflower was nice. The photograph was not anything special. Cell phone pictures work as well. Our server was outstanding! Great place to get a quick bite before a DCPA performance. There are other restaurants in the area with a better menu that I would recommend.
We love to go to the Nickel before heading to the opera! The staff is superb!
Food wise.... uh. No.
You can see that the chef tries.. but the food is as bland as it can get. I will parrot other reviews: drinks are great and innovative... but the food is simply way over priced hotel banquet food
Slow service for pre theatre meal. Mussels over cooked and tasteless.
Excellent! The pork belly menu entree was delicious, my husband and kids had it. I had the salmon which was divine. I highly recommend The Nickel!
The setting, food and service were great. It was very pricey however with price of entree only covering the meat with a limited selection of costly but delicious side dishes for additional $$.
Great spot, we had 2 different servers working together?? Or one was ending a shift? Service was slow towards the end. Food was good, a bit pricey.
The service was great! Really made a special occasion even more special!
This is a nice restaurant conveniently located next to the performing arts center. It has a nice atmosphere and decor. The food is another story. The steak is a butcher's cut so you cannot choose your steak. The steak came out a bit cold and it was not a very good steak. The sharing dishes were also lacking in quality. The potato dish had quite a few burnt potatoes and the cheese broccolini sauce was very watered down.
Service was great, food was plentiful, ambiance was fantastic.
That was my first meal at Teatro. I will go again.
We enjoy eating there but would like to see a few more options on the menu.
Food was cold and and must have sat in yth kitchen for a very long time because it took forever to get. The noise level was through the roof.
We were really disappointed. We had 3 simple drinks, 2 mains, and 2 sides. The scallops were skimpy (for $29.00 without a vegetable), the fried catfish was over-breaded, though the greens that came alongside were nicely cooked, and the arugula salad was really just a bunch of arugula with no dressing that we could taste. The only really nice dish was the large serving of braised Brussel sprouts (meant to be shared). Our check with tip was $143.00 for the two of us; we thought it was overpriced. I suspect that if we'd sat at the bar for a drink and a board of cured meats and cheeses, we'd have been happier.
Excellent meal, wine, service! Great experience overall.
From time to time we dine at The Nickel before attending the symphony--and we've always been pleased with the food and the service. This time everything was positively exceptional--we had some of the best Manhattans we've ever had and (even though it was a busy Saturday night) the kitchen cooked a dinner for my husband that wasn't on the menu any more. They really make the extra effort to give you a great dining experience. We REALLY like the dining room, the menu and the thoughtful kitchen and wait staff. GO! OFTEN!!
The restaurant environment was nice, and I enjoyed the modern look and comfy seats. However, I did not enjoy my brunch of Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was tough and the breading was thick and hard to cut. The waffle itself was not anything special. BUT I really did enjoy my Bloody Mary because of the flavor and the option to dress it the way I wanted at the toppings bar. My friends ordered the Classic Benedict and they seemed to enjoy their meals.
Great experience as always. Anthony has been my server the last few visits and is outstanding. Highly recommend.
We came in at 11:15 and they were only serving from their brunch menu. There aren’t many options for kids on that menu, and they already had breakfast, so they ended up just having toast and a side of fruit. I am a vegetarian and there were not many options for me either. I ordered the Nickel salad which was TINY and not nearly enough to consider a meal. My husband and I also each ordered a mimosa which were $10 each and served in small champagne flutes. The ambiance was beautiful, but the food was expensive for what you get, and there were not enough choices for that time of day. I NEVER write bad reviews, but I was really disappointed!
Great cocktail menu and well executed. Enjoyed everything we ordered. Great locale, especially before a show at the DCPA. Love the ambience.
The Nickel was terrific for dinner. Ambiance, food, service all were on point. I would happily go again when in Denver
Very disappointed. First after we were seated the waiter took almost 15 minutes to come. As we were going to a concert we needed to order quickly. We ordered the first time we saw him. Between the time we arrived to the time we got our food it was more than 50 minutes. We ordered the sweet potato to share. This is a crazy item and in no way meant to be shared. The waiter did the right thing it took it off the bill. We had the Chilean sea bass and it was the smallest portion ever. It may have been small but it was tasty. It was extremely noisy and hard to have a conversation over dinner.
I have been to The Nickel so many times before and had great experiences but this last visit was so very disappointing. In my reservation, I noted we had theatre tickets, which the host and server both confirmed. Our charcuterie plate arrived timely but after waiting over an hour for our entrees, we had to abandon our dinner to make our show on time. The waiter did take our entrees off our bill but no other accommodation. We left disappointed and hungry. Will think twice before dining here again before a show, even arriving 2 hours before the show was not enough for dinner! Such a disappointment.
Food was excellent. Easy to get in and out to make the ballet.
We came for drinks, snacks and dessert after the theater. Everything was great and our server was outstanding
the BEST place to go before a show or with out-of-town guests. Great service always. Food is wonderful.
It was a really cold, snowy day. In their defense maybe some employees did not show up. However it took 30 minutes (arrived 11:15 for an 11:30 reservation and we were seated promptly). Our 2 eggs Benedict were served about 11:45. I had asked for my eggs to be firm and they jiggled so as he put down the plate I had them taken back. Both dishes were lukewarm. My friend said his eggs were so runny he should have used a spoon. The potatoes were so cold that I asked for some hot ones. We wanted to see a desert menu but when it wasn’t brought, I waved to the hostess to bring our check since we were going to DCPA. To their credit, they did not charge me for my meal. Great spot for before DCPA but I doubt I would go back.
The drinks were great (hand crafted cocktails) but the food was pretty disappointing. We ordered the scallops and the short ribs. The scallops themselves were tasty but super small (no bigger than a quarter). The "black garlic" was nothing more than a balsamic reduction sauce that was so vinegar-y I couldn't even eat it. And the short ribs were a big pile of fat (gross). We expected those to be fatty (as short ribs are) but what came on the plate was literally a blob of cooked fat with a little bit of meat on one side. Yuck. The brussel sprouts and baby potatoes were both good but nothing special. I will go back for the cocktails but I don't think I'd eat dinner there again with all the other great options located downtown.
All around, a great dining experience. The service was spot on. Our server and the bar staff were able to accommodate my wife's request for a cocktail that is no longer on their menu. The server was very conscientious about getting us through dinner before our show at the DCPA. The food was great. I would highly recommend the Nickel.
We were promptly seated and greeted by our server. He explained the menu to us as it was restaurant week and gave us time to make our choices. The food was great and the service was excellent. I would return there again.
Food was expensive for being very basic. Service was not particularly quick. Fun concept drinks though
Food was fresh but lacked great flavor - we had scallops and short ribs. Even the lemon volcano cake lacked lemon flavor. Brussels sprouts with blueberries was unexpected but those flavors worked quite well together.
Table was smudgy - was clean but did not look clean.
