The menu is very limited for one. The prices and the quality of the food do not match. The iced tea was made from a powder and you would think that fresh, brewed iced tea would have been served for this restaurant. Overall, it was a big
Disappointing menu variety and prices are high, and drinks are expensive. Ambience is good, noise level is controlled and not an issue.
Great location for pre-theatre dining...we wouldn't expect GREAT food and drink value as the location is part of the equation, but the combination of high prices and limited selection is just too much.
We didn't have huge expectations for this place, but we were thrilled with our dinner. The Nickel is a perfect example of doing a few things, but do them very well. So the menu isn't huge, but everything we had was excellent. I can't believe they weren't busier on a Friday night. The bar tender ,EJ, was also excellent and did some custom cocktails for us.
Great location. Amazing food. The staff was friendly & attentive. Great location too.
The server was kind and offered that they were extremely short staffed and the menu was much different than what was online. The food that we ordered was average and quite expensive for what we ordered. Unfortunately, we were not super thrilled and most likely won't be back for the restaurant. The hotel was stellar though!
proximity to DCPA was great, our server was very good she was efficient and enthusiastic. The food was very well prepared and met our expectations. The only real downside was that the menu was limited due to staffing shortages.
Excellent breakfast! Food was inventive and delicious, our waitress was friendly and accomodating! Got the biggest cup of coffee I have received at a restaurant too, which I loved! Would definitely go again next time I stay at Hotel Teatro!
We asked for distancing and were perfectly accommodated. The food was excellent, and the service good. It was nice to be able to talk and hear with no loud tables to drown out our conversation.
The Nickel seems to be suffering compared to our prior visits. Though our wait person was very nice, she seemed disorganized and the service was very slow. Several things we had to ask for more than once. Though our food was tasty, the prices have increased by at least 50% or more, making it a less attractive option for pre theater dining. You can do better Nickel!
Flatbread appetizer is great - as is the duck. Service is very attentive and friendly.
New Years early outing.
The service was good and the food was very delicious!
Wonderful ambiance for a date night. Food was outstanding and service was stellar. Have a Manhattan cocktail in the library. The best!
Nice restaurant close to DPAC. Good and service were excellent.
Pre Nutcracker Dinner
We waited quite a while for drinks from the bar. Three of our five meals arrived cold, so we sent them back and one of them came back still cold and the pasta was dried out. The staff was great, and we were comp’d the cold meal and they offered us free dessert. Don’t sit at the table by the door as it is cold and drafty when the hostel door opened and closed.
Best espresso martini I’ve ever had!
My husband and I greatly enjoyed our dining experience at The Nickel. Our server was friendly, informative, and attentive to us during our dining experience. The caprese appetizer was my favorite part of the meal. Something about the blend of flavors was refreshing. My steak was cooked the way I liked it and topped off with a Malbec wine made for an enjoyable evening.
The perfect dinner. Excellent service from hostess to server to kitchen. Creative menu, very well prepared and presented.
Terrific pre-Nutcracker ballet meal. I took a friend—an older woman with some mobility issues—to a pre-ballet dinner. The staff were very gracious, the service excellent, and the food was terrific. We valet-parked ($25) and walked down from the restaurant to the Ellie. Highly recommended anytime but especially before an evening in DPAC.
Very nice dinner pre-theater, and added bonus of valet parking. Food exceeded our expectations and staff was outstanding. Will return!
The food was delicious, I had the pork chops and my husband the fish and chips. Plus, the prices are very good, considering it's downtown. My main issue was the dessert. We had the peach cake dessert, it had obviously been sitting the the fridge for awhile. Very bland flavor. We'll go again, but next time try the other dessert. The dessert should get as much attention as the main course. We did have to ask for drink refills; however with the shortage of wait staff, that wasn't too surprising. Almost forgot, we also had the house salad and it was excellent.
Excellent food. I got beef, husband short ribs both delicious. Appetizer we got Brie Flatbread was so tasty
limited menu and they got rid of the charcuterie board
Special "THANK YOU" to our waiter, Daniel, who was very knowledgeable about the menu. He went out of his way and found some ice cream to go with our desert even though it was not offered on the menu (not sure why). And special "THANK YOU" to the bartender who made an apple martini drink without any apples because I originally tried to order an apple martini, but it was not on the menu. Our experience was awesome. The staff was top notch and went out of their way to show us hospitality. We look forward to going again. Yes, we would recommend The Nickel to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience. - Thanks again, Dan and Bill
The food was spectacular, portions were perfect both for dinner and breakfast. Staff was amazing. It was my 40th birthday and we also stayed at the hotel. They made us feel so so special. Definitely recommend both the restaurant and the hotel.
The Nickel is a comfortable and convenient place to have dinner before a show at the Denver Performing Arts Center. They offer discounted valet parking for diners and the restaurant staff are warm and professional. Cocktails are excellent. The food is uneven. Starters such as the caprese salad and the grilled peach salad were good, and one guest enjoyed his hamburger. However the pork chop was unpleasantly full of fat and gristle; probably an inexpensive cut. Dessert, a filled chocolate cup, was overly sweet and not especially tasty.
Our entrees were slow coming out of the kitchen, and when they were served, the food wasn’t hot.
Great sweet corn polenta! Short ribs melt in your mouth
The artificial flowers at the entrance go Hotel Teatro were not working for me. Tacky. Also, when you offer grilled peaches in a salad, you need to deliver. Apparently the salad chefs do not realize that people read the menu and the descriptions of the food they are ordering. The peaches were not grilled and tasted like hard canned peaches. We understand that people have mentioned this in the past and the chefs choose not to pay attention. Generally, the food was fine, but nothing great. Still, our experience was good and we like the proximity to the DCPA.
Nada our server was amazing! She was attentive without being in the way. And so friendly! Every recommendation she made was out of this world. This place is so underrated. We absolutely loved our meal (short ribs, steak, and desserts). It's the best restaurant we've been to in Denver (better than Rioja and all the other buzzy restaurants). It's so comfy and warm with an inviting bar. It's even within walking distance to DCPA's arts complex. I highly recommend this place! You won't be disappointed.
They are open early for breakfast which is a plus. Service was excellent and the coffee was very good in a very large cup. Overall, it’s a breakfast place to go to on my next visit to Denver.
It wasn’t The Nickel of old with a great brunch, Bloody Mary bar, etc. Could have been any hotel restaurant. Non-descript, no reason to go back except the service..
A very limited menu, but excellent food. We'll go back!!
The peach dishes were good and fresh but I felt the menu options weren’t great
Appears to be a very stripped down version of this restaurant. Limited menu, limited staff. Everything very salty. Adequate for a bite for hotel guests, but nothing more at this time.
The food was very good. Wish the silver-dollar pancakes had been available as a side (doubt they would really make a full meal by themselves).
The food was fantastic and for the price was even better. This wonderful place is not as much as other restaurants down town but the food quality is on par with other 5 star restaurants. The menu was a bit short and we were sad to no longer see the charcuterie board present among other dishes. However, our entre's were superb. The restaurant was a tad cold as well but every thing else was wonderful. Will definitely be going back soon.
Beautiful decore; comfortable seating; responsive staff. Pork chop is a winner, as is the burger.
